:00:22. > :00:31.leaving Manchester United and the near miss for the trackers trying to

:00:31. > :00:34.cross Antarctica. Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has

:00:34. > :00:39.announced after 26 years in charge of the most successful club in

:00:39. > :00:43.England he's retiring at the end of the season. Already big names around

:00:43. > :00:49.the world, including Christiano Ronaldo are reacting and reflecting

:00:49. > :00:52.on what has been a remarkable reign. Sir Alex, the most successful

:00:52. > :00:57.manager in the history of the British game. Manchester United

:00:57. > :01:05.manager for more than 26 years. Winning an incredible 38 trophies

:01:05. > :01:09.for the club, including 13 League titles, five FA Cups, four League

:01:09. > :01:13.Cups and the Champions League twice. This is what he looked like back in

:01:13. > :01:20.1986, arriving for his first game in charge. But the fans had to wait

:01:20. > :01:25.four years for his first trophy, the 1990 FA Cup. In 1999, they became

:01:25. > :01:29.the only English team to win the famous League, FA Cup and Champions

:01:29. > :01:35.League treble and he still had time for clashes with some big-name

:01:35. > :01:39.players off the pitch, famously getting rid of David Beckham during

:01:39. > :01:42.a row. There have been five Prime Ministers, 12 England managers and

:01:43. > :01:47.19 different Manchester City bosses, but he's not leaving the club

:01:47. > :01:53.entirely and will become a director and ambassador.

:01:53. > :01:57.Such a great career, and so much success and plenty of reactions to

:01:57. > :02:04.the decision. The Prime Minister has said Ferguson's record was

:02:04. > :02:09.exceptional. Michael Owen said he was the world's best manager, adding

:02:09. > :02:14.Manchester United without him doesn't seem right and Christiano

:02:14. > :02:19.Ronaldo, who was a player for Manchester United, tweeted, " Thanks

:02:19. > :02:24.for everything, boss." I've had a season ticket for two years and it's

:02:24. > :02:29.quite shocking that he's left, so I'm pretty devastated. He's been

:02:29. > :02:37.ling them for so many years and he has shown how good a manager he can

:02:37. > :02:42.be. I don't think he can be dept. The best in the world. -- topped.

:02:42. > :02:48.The best manager in the world. is outside Old Trafford. Here we

:02:48. > :02:52.are, the home of Manchester United, Old Trafford. So much talk about Sir

:02:52. > :02:56.Alex Ferguson retiring. A big shock to everyone. Joining me now is

:02:56. > :03:01.Catherine, BBC Sports presenter. The big question now is what happens

:03:01. > :03:06.next? Well, Leah, David Moyes is looking increasingly likely to be

:03:06. > :03:10.the successor. He's currently the Everton boss and he's been at

:03:10. > :03:13.Goodison for 12 years and given that Sir Alex Ferguson has been here for

:03:13. > :03:17.26 years, you can tell that loyalty is very important to the bosses here

:03:17. > :03:22.at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho's name was also in the frame. He used

:03:22. > :03:25.to manage Chelsea. He has gone over to Real Madrid, so he has real

:03:25. > :03:29.experience in managing top European football, which is what Manchester

:03:29. > :03:31.United want to continue doing in the years ahead, something that perhaps

:03:31. > :03:36.David Moyes hasn't had much experience in, but he's the front

:03:36. > :03:42.runner when it comes to replacing Sir Alex and the club say they want

:03:42. > :03:45.to make an announcement before the weekend. On Sunday, he will lead out

:03:45. > :03:51.the team against Swansea at home. What happens after that and in the

:03:51. > :03:55.next season is out of his hands. Back to you. Thank you

:03:55. > :03:59.To the day's other news and Government has sent out its latest

:03:59. > :04:03.plans for the year ahead. The Queen read them out in her annual speech

:04:03. > :04:11.to mark the State Opening of Parliament. A big ceremony that like

:04:15. > :04:18.wife attended the ceremony for the first time in 17 years. They planned

:04:18. > :04:22.to impose tough new rules from people from foreign countries coming

:04:22. > :04:25.to live in the UK. The plans have to be approved by Parliament before

:04:25. > :04:30.becoming the law. The Queen also said that the Government's first

:04:30. > :04:36.priority would be to improve the UK's money problems. My Lords and

:04:36. > :04:42.members of the House of Commons, my Government's legislative programme
