:00:00. > :00:09.It's 8.16. This is Newsround with me Ricky. On the menu this Thursday.
:00:10. > :00:14.Scientists show how the universe evolved, with an amazing computer
:00:15. > :00:16.animation. Why this guy's home will be changing its name. This is
:00:17. > :00:26.Newsround. It's six months since one of the
:00:27. > :00:30.most powerful typhoons ever recorded tore into the Philippines in
:00:31. > :00:33.south-east Asia. Typhoon Haiyan left some parts of islands completely
:00:34. > :00:38.flattened. More than 6,000 people died. Millions were left homeless.
:00:39. > :00:42.The BBC's Rupert Wingfield-Hayes has been to the city of Tacloban, one of
:00:43. > :00:47.the worst-hit areas, to see how the country's coping half a year on. If
:00:48. > :00:51.you go into the centre of Tacloban which is on the other side of the
:00:52. > :00:55.bay from here, life looks very much like it's getting back to normal.
:00:56. > :00:59.There are bustling streets full of cars and people, the shops are open,
:01:00. > :01:03.they are stuffed full of goods. But down here on the coast, which was
:01:04. > :01:07.hit by far the hardest, by the typhoon, things are very different.
:01:08. > :01:10.People are still living in tents. If they are lucky they have been able
:01:11. > :01:14.to construct a shack covered with a tarpaulin. There is still an
:01:15. > :01:19.enormous aid operation going on here helping people out. Some of it is
:01:20. > :01:24.very well coordinated. Some of it far less, but it is, nevertheless,
:01:25. > :01:29.definitely making a huge difference. Nobody here is going hungry and no
:01:30. > :01:32.one is without some form of shelter. But the question now, six months on,
:01:33. > :01:37.is how are these people going to restart their lives? How are they
:01:38. > :01:40.going to find work? Where will they find money from? They've lost their
:01:41. > :01:43.homes, they've lost their cars, they've lost their businesses, their
:01:44. > :01:48.fishing boats, and now they have nothing. The question now is how do
:01:49. > :01:52.you start your life over again? And don't forget on the website you can
:01:53. > :01:55.still watch our special reports from when Leah went to the Philippines
:01:56. > :01:58.shortly after the typhoon hit. You'll also find a picture gallery
:01:59. > :02:02.of the children she met while she was out there. Next, a team of
:02:03. > :02:06.international scientists has recreated the birth and growth of
:02:07. > :02:10.the Universe in their lab. The computer model shows how the first
:02:11. > :02:12.galaxies formed around clumps of a mysterious, invisible substance
:02:13. > :02:18.called dark matter, squeezing 14 billion years into just
:02:19. > :02:21.two-and-a-half minutes. It's the first time the Universe has been
:02:22. > :02:27.modelled so extensively and in such great quality. And what we can see
:02:28. > :02:33.here is how gas and stars and eventually planets and us form in
:02:34. > :02:37.this universe. And the amazing thing about this simulation is that it is
:02:38. > :02:40.really strikingly close to the real universe. The Premier League trophy
:02:41. > :02:46.is within Manchester City's grasp, after last night's 4-0 win over
:02:47. > :02:49.Aston Villa. The pick of the goals was this solo effort from Yaya
:02:50. > :02:52.Toure. It was Manchester City's 100th league goal of the season.
:02:53. > :02:56.They are now two points clear of Liverpool with one game to play and
:02:57. > :03:00.have a better goal difference. At the other end of the table,
:03:01. > :03:02.Sunderland's 2-0 win over West Brom completed their incredible escape
:03:03. > :03:06.from relegation. It's their fourth win in a row. Less than a month ago
:03:07. > :03:10.they were languishing at the bottom of the table, seven points from
:03:11. > :03:19.safety. And the boss is pretty pleased with the turnaround. It was
:03:20. > :03:22.an incredible escape. It was a miracle, it was something unique, it
:03:23. > :03:25.was something special. The connection on the pitch between the
:03:26. > :03:28.players in the last few games in an incredible way. Connection with the
:03:29. > :03:32.fans every single game in an incredible way. There's only one
:03:33. > :03:36.result - win football games. To tennis now. Andy Murray is through
:03:37. > :03:40.to the third round of the Madrid Masters. In his first match for more
:03:41. > :03:43.than a month, the number seven seed beat Spain's Nicolas Almagro in
:03:44. > :03:47.three sets. He dedicated the win to his friend and former British number
:03:48. > :03:53.one Elena Baltacha, who died of liver cancer earlier this week. The
:03:54. > :03:56.most important thing as an athlete is to reach your potential and
:03:57. > :04:04.that's the sign of a champion, really. And she definitely did that.
:04:05. > :04:10.She had an incredible work ethic. So, yeah, it was obviously a sad few
:04:11. > :04:15.weeks. But hopefully, soon, we can start to celebrate everything that
:04:16. > :04:18.she did that was great. Remember the recent row over this? It's the
:04:19. > :04:21.painting by the street artist Banksy, which caused an argument
:04:22. > :04:27.after the youth club on whose door it was painted, removed the pic and
:04:28. > :04:31.took it inside for safe keeping. It was then moved to a museum, but now
:04:32. > :04:35.the artist has written to the club, saying he's happy for them to hang
:04:36. > :04:39.onto it. And last up to a change of name for this guy's home. The giant
:04:40. > :04:43.dinosaur has pride of place in the Central hall of London's Natural
:04:44. > :04:46.History Museum. But the Hall will be renamed the Hintze Hall after the
:04:47. > :04:49.couple who've given a huge ?5 million donation. It's the largest
:04:50. > :04:52.single donation in the museum's history, and will be used to
:04:53. > :04:55.maintain collections and for scientific research behind the
:04:56. > :04:58.scenes. In That's all from me, Newsround's back this afternoon. Bye
:04:59. > :05:00.bye.
