:01:19. > :01:21.rid of a lot of their trees on the mountains,

:01:22. > :01:23.so all the rain water comes down into the settlements below,

:01:24. > :01:27.Because they are poorer than their neighbours in the

:01:28. > :01:30.Dominican Republic, the structures in Haiti are not quite as good,

:01:31. > :01:33.so the houses start being destroyed when you get these very strong winds

:01:34. > :01:36.from tropical storms and hurricanes, as they move in.

:01:37. > :01:39.Haiti is very poor, so buildings and things like water

:01:44. > :01:46.And many people do not have enough money to repair their homes.

:01:47. > :01:49.It means they are going to need a lot of help from other

:01:58. > :02:00.The latest on the hurricane is that it has weakened and is moving

:02:01. > :02:03.near the coast of South Carolina in the United States.

:02:07. > :02:10.There is tons of stuff at Newsround online about Hurricane Matthew,

:02:30. > :02:32.reserves where elephants live, to find out what it is like growing

:02:33. > :02:36.up so close to these amazing creatures.

:02:37. > :02:39.In Afrikaans, "olifant" means elephant.

:02:40. > :02:56.Some of their classes are taken outside and

:02:57. > :02:58.a lot of the lessons learn about animals.

:02:59. > :03:06.And even thir awards have a bit of a theme.

:03:07. > :03:09.The school is only 20 minutes away from nature reserves

:03:10. > :03:11.and loads of incredible animals, including elephants,

:03:12. > :03:14.It is not just the children here who are

:03:15. > :03:24.They are very popular around the world,

:03:25. > :03:26.including this school in the United Kingdom.

:03:27. > :03:27.They have even named their class after them.

:03:28. > :03:31.And they have got some big questions for the children living in

:03:32. > :03:34.What is it like living near elephants?
