:00:14. > :00:17.First, to the thousands of children affected by the floods in Cumbria.

:00:18. > :00:20.Hundreds are still off school after their classrooms and homes

:00:21. > :00:25.And many kids in Lancashire don't have any electricity,

:00:26. > :00:29.But the power's been put back on in around 10,000 houses.

:00:30. > :00:32.Dozens of children who've been affected by the flooding in the

:00:33. > :00:35.North West of England had to leave all their clothes and toys behind at

:00:36. > :00:40.home and move to temporary shelters until the water disappears.

:00:41. > :00:43.Other families have been clearing out their damaged homes, throwing

:00:44. > :00:46.away carpets and sofas that have been ruined by the smelly water.

:00:47. > :00:48.These kids have been getting food, clothes and towels

:00:49. > :01:05.from volunteers at a special community centre in Cumbria.

:01:06. > :01:14.What went over the radiators, it has been making the captures float. And

:01:15. > :01:17.we have had all of the table floating and it is all around, just

:01:18. > :01:25.devastating. It is just really satisfying that

:01:26. > :01:30.people are actually helping. And the community, it is just really great.

:01:31. > :01:34.I have been trying to help my brother because he has been flooded

:01:35. > :01:39.out. And he had to get relief so we were able to help him.

:01:40. > :01:41.It's not just people who've had to be rescued.

:01:42. > :01:44.This dog was carried to safety from deep flood water in Corbridge,

:01:45. > :01:47.And this donkey was lucky to be rescued from thick mud in Kerry,

:01:48. > :01:51.Volunteers used a small boat and a life belt to drag him to safety.

:02:23. > :02:24.he got more than he bargained for in his broccoli.

:02:25. > :02:27.Animal lover Charlie isn't short of pets.

:02:28. > :02:30.Max the dog, Snowy the rabbit, turtles Dippy and Dipper, Dougie

:02:31. > :02:41.But last year, all Charlie really wanted for Christmas was a lizard.

:02:42. > :02:50.I said - no chance, we have that many animals in this

:02:51. > :02:55.I got the veg out and I thought I would do it on Christmas Eve,

:02:56. > :02:59.chopping my veg up at the sink and as I was chopping it up

:03:00. > :03:01.and putting it into the saucepan, there was a lizard.

:03:02. > :03:04.My husband was sat there, so I shouted "Greg, there's

:03:05. > :03:10.His name is Brock because my mum found him in broccoli.

:03:11. > :03:16.She ran into the kitchen with a sandwich box,

:03:17. > :03:20.so when I went to see what it was, to my surprise, it was a gecko.

:03:21. > :03:23.The RSPCA had said they couldn't pick it up on Christmas Day,

:03:24. > :03:26.but when I heard them say they couldn't pick it up, I thought they

:03:27. > :03:31.They said that if we got the right stuff and the right crickets,

:03:32. > :03:37.Geckos are not found in cold climates like here in the UK.

:03:38. > :03:39.As reptiles, they can't produce their own body

:03:40. > :03:47.heat, so they prefer to live in warm countries like Spain for example.

:03:48. > :03:50.It's very important to do the research when it comes to reptiles.

:03:51. > :03:59.You've got to think of the type of climate they come from.

:04:00. > :04:03.You've also got to think of their food source.

:04:04. > :04:06.Some geckos eat fruit-based things, some are insect eaters, so you need

:04:07. > :04:12.Well, Charlie, Brock looks as if he's doing well.

:04:13. > :04:15.You definitely got your Christmas wish last year.

:04:16. > :04:20.Well, Martin, I'm looking for something a bit bigger this year.

:04:21. > :04:21.MUM: Charlie!

:04:22. > :04:34.I could not imagine an elephant in my home.

:04:35. > :04:37.Researchers in Australia say it's the best preserved dinosaur fossil

:04:38. > :04:41.It's an entirely new dinosaur species, with armour like plating on

:04:42. > :04:45.It has a parrot-like beak, bones in its thick skin, and
