:00:34. > :00:54.Jenny has been looking into the homework debate.
:00:55. > :00:57.Homework, it's given out in most of the primary schools in the UK,
:00:58. > :01:00.but for more than 100 years experts have been trying to decide
:01:01. > :01:03.whether or not it's a good thing for you to do.
:01:04. > :01:06.Some people think homework puts too much pressure on kids.
:01:07. > :01:10.They say research suggests homework in primary school isn't
:01:11. > :01:12.helpful for students, and because of this some heads
:01:13. > :01:16.and teachers want homework to be banned completely.
:01:17. > :01:19.But others say homework is an important part of you learning
:01:20. > :01:21.how to work on your own, and gives you the chance
:01:22. > :01:23.to practice what you've learnt in the classroom,
:01:24. > :01:28.like reading, writing, spelling and times tables.
:01:29. > :01:30.At this school, the students are given written and number
:01:31. > :01:35.Homework is a good thing because it might help children
:01:36. > :01:38.who are struggling or just need a bit more information to help them,
:01:39. > :01:42.and I think all children should be doing it.
:01:43. > :01:45.I don't like homework because I feel after school I should relax.
:01:46. > :01:47.I think it's beneficial because you're recapping
:01:48. > :01:54.Sometimes I get really stressed when I don't have it all done.
:01:55. > :01:58.It's really like, it puts you under pressure.
:01:59. > :02:00.The Government says headteachers can make their own decision
:02:01. > :02:03.about whether or not to set homework, so why does this
:02:04. > :02:06.school, like many others, think it's important?
:02:07. > :02:11.Basically we give them homework because we want them to reaffirm
:02:12. > :02:14.what they've learned that week and enjoy what they're learning,
:02:15. > :02:18.and we also want them to be ready for when they go to secondary
:02:19. > :02:22.school, that they will be getting homework on a regular basis
:02:23. > :02:26.I would like homework to be a bit more varied,
:02:27. > :02:30.and I'd like there to be history projects and science things,
:02:31. > :02:36.If homework was taken away, I'd feel glad but also sad
:02:37. > :02:39.because the homework helps me know what I'm doing and makes me more
:02:40. > :02:43.confident, but I'd be happy as well because I've got more time to spend
:02:44. > :02:53.Should you get more, less or none at all?
:02:54. > :02:55.This week we'll be speaking to children who do all sorts
:02:56. > :02:59.of homework, and we'll put the arguments to a panel

:03:39. > :03:45.Some penguins live in cold places like Antarctica,
:03:46. > :03:53.and are well known for their unusual walk, which helps them
:03:54. > :03:56.By taking small steps or shuffling, and leaning forward to change
:03:57. > :03:58.their centre of gravity, penguins reduce their
:03:59. > :04:04.So, Jenny, try channelling your inner penguin.
