:00:07. > :00:11.Hey, guys, Martin here with your final Newsround of the day. Coming
:00:12. > :00:15.up: Could scientists finally find the unknown chunk of the universe?
:00:16. > :00:22.And the kangaroo that has more than just a spring in its step. This is
:00:23. > :00:25.Newsround. First to the mystery surrounding
:00:26. > :00:29.what scientists say makes up a quarter of our universe. It's known
:00:30. > :00:34.as dark matter, but the problem is no-one has actually ever seen it or
:00:35. > :00:42.detected it. Now an experiment in South Dakota, America, might finally
:00:43. > :00:45.solve the mystery. Nel's got more. No-one knows what it looks like, but
:00:46. > :00:55.many scientists say without it, the universe wouldn't exist in its
:00:56. > :00:59.current form. Essentially, they think it is a type of particle. The
:01:00. > :01:03.risks are much of this stuff. There are billions of particles floating
:01:04. > :01:12.through as all the time. Without it, we would not be here. No-one knows
:01:13. > :01:15.what dark matter looks like, but scientists think these mysterious
:01:16. > :01:18.particles are everywhere. And now an experiment located in the bottom of
:01:19. > :01:22.a gold mine in South Dakota in America could offer the best chance
:01:23. > :01:26.yet of detecting dark matter. It is a big tank which has got a particle
:01:27. > :01:31.detector in now. As they streamed through the earth, it will catch the
:01:32. > :01:40.very occasional times that the particles bump into regular matter.
:01:41. > :01:43.The race is hotting up to find dark matter and if it does exist,
:01:44. > :01:48.scientists in South Dakota want to be the first ones to detect it.
:01:49. > :01:50.Football now and it's a big game for Manchester United tonight. The Reds
:01:51. > :01:53.will play against tournament favourites Bayern Munich for a place
:01:54. > :01:57.in the Champions League semifinal. United go into the match 1-1 on
:01:58. > :02:00.aggregate. Wayne Rooney was a doubt to play after getting an injured toe
:02:01. > :02:08.in training. However, his manager thinks he's too important to leave
:02:09. > :02:13.out. He is happy to take an injection to play in the game, which
:02:14. > :02:16.shows you his feeling about the game and that the club.
:02:17. > :02:20.Now check out this robotic kangaroo, made by a company in Germany. It
:02:21. > :02:24.jumps and acts just like a real kangaroo. However, the designers say
:02:25. > :02:29.it's not a toy and was built to show how the movement of animals can help
:02:30. > :02:33.build industrial machines. Finally, take a look at this. These
:02:34. > :02:36.pictures were taken at the edge of space from a camera attached to a
:02:37. > :02:41.balloon by a group of school children. The balloon popped when
:02:42. > :02:45.the pressure got too low and sent the camera floating back to earth.
:02:46. > :02:48.The experiment was carried out by the engineering club at Cedars Upper
:02:49. > :02:52.School, who worked with Cambridge University to make the weather
:02:53. > :02:56.balloon. And don't forget to check out the
:02:57. > :02:58.Newsround website to have a go at our Sports Stars Who've Switched
:02:59. > :03:00.sports quiz. It's awesome.
