:00:36. > :00:37.stressed? Hundreds of thousands of pupils

:00:38. > :00:40.in England are taking Standard Assessment Tests,

:00:41. > :00:43.or SATs, this week. In a survey for Newsround,

:00:44. > :00:47.87% of ten and 11-year-olds questioned said they feel pressure

:00:48. > :00:51.to do well in school tests. Hayley's been asking

:00:52. > :00:53.children in Manchester who are sitting their SATS,

:00:54. > :01:10.how they're feeling. How are you feeling about Europe

:01:11. > :01:15.starts coming up soon? I do feel quite pressured

:01:16. > :01:18.because I don't want to mess I can't really get to sleep as much

:01:19. > :01:24.and not that easily. Preparing for any test can be

:01:25. > :01:30.a stressful time and it's going to be a really busy week

:01:31. > :01:32.for hundreds of thousands of ten and 11-years-olds,

:01:33. > :01:35.who start their week of SATs today. The tests in England keep track

:01:36. > :01:37.of how primary school They can also affect

:01:38. > :01:42.which class students go into when they move up

:01:43. > :01:47.to high school. The lessons taught in schools

:01:48. > :01:50.and the way children are tested Hundreds of children answered

:01:51. > :01:59.questions in a survey for Newsround More than half said say they feel

:02:00. > :02:08.some pressure to do well, while over a quarter said

:02:09. > :02:11.they feel a lot of pressure. Many said they feel nervous before

:02:12. > :02:15.tests while others said And they told us the pressure can

:02:16. > :02:23.make them sad and moody, But nearly half of children

:02:24. > :02:28.questioned said they didn't mind taking the tests and some even said

:02:29. > :02:34.they enjoyed them. Last Tuesday meant a day out

:02:35. > :02:37.of school for some children - their parents kept them off

:02:38. > :02:39.in protest at the way Thousands of people signed

:02:40. > :02:44.a petition telling the Government the tests put children under

:02:45. > :02:47.too much pressure. The Government says that tests

:02:48. > :02:52.are important and should not be Tests help teachers identify

:02:53. > :02:58.and provide the support pupils need as well as giving parents a picture

:02:59. > :03:08.of how their child is doing." What advice would you give other

:03:09. > :03:13.children stressed and worried? Keep calm and just try to keep your

:03:14. > :03:22.mind off it until it comes. We all know exam time can be

:03:23. > :03:25.worrying for some of you, but there's loads you can do to stop

:03:26. > :03:28.yourself getting too stressed out. Here are some of CBBC's famous faces

:03:44. > :03:48.school and before exams, that's what used to make me nervous. I used to

:03:49. > :03:55.stay behind school and talk to my teachers and we used to work one on

:03:56. > :04:02.one. Always take a moment and brief. It sounds like such a silly thing

:04:03. > :04:07.but honestly, taking deep breaths is everything. Try your best, try and

:04:08. > :04:11.get everything on the page, that is all you can do. Have faith in

:04:12. > :04:12.yourself, keep calm and do your best.
