0:00:04 > 0:00:07Good morning, Team Newsround - I'm Jenny, live with all the top

0:00:07 > 0:00:08stories this Wednesday.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Keep watching...

0:00:10 > 0:00:13for this cyclist's epic journey around the world,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16why tourism is causing a problem on Skye,

0:00:16 > 0:00:22and watch this mascot's unlucky moment.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33First, It's been a great summer for Women's sport in the UK.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35England won the cricket world cup, and Johanna Konta became

0:00:35 > 0:00:38the first british woman, in nearly 40 years, to get

0:00:38 > 0:00:39to the semi finals in Wimbledon.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42But against the backdrop of this success, the Women's rugby union

0:00:42 > 0:00:45team has decided not to renew contracts next season.

0:00:45 > 0:00:49Ayshah has been finding out more.

0:00:49 > 0:00:58I'm Rebecca, I'm 14 and a massive rugby fan.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01I play for my local team as a winger and I love rugby.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Rebecca, is rugby something you want to do in the future?

0:01:04 > 0:01:05It is definitely a dream.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08It's something I'd love to do.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10But there is a problem.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12At the moment the women's England team are all

0:01:12 > 0:01:15professional - that means they get paid to play the game.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18But in the future the people who run rugby in

0:01:18 > 0:01:22England say they will only pay women who play

0:01:22 > 0:01:23the 7-a-side version of

0:01:23 > 0:01:28the game, instead of the traditional 15-a-side.

0:01:28 > 0:01:33This is different from the men, who get paid to play both.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Someone who thinks this is a problem is World Cup winner Maggie.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41She captained the England team to victory in 2014.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43As a former player I am disappointed, because

0:01:43 > 0:01:47understandably you want to ensure there is full investment in both

0:01:47 > 0:01:57formats of the game.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59All governing bodies can still invest in their

0:01:59 > 0:02:02women's sports and teams because we have seen with further

0:02:02 > 0:02:03investment greater success can come.

0:02:03 > 0:02:11We put these points to the current England vice captain.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14I think there are 7s contracts next year, they've talked

0:02:14 > 0:02:16about how they want to bring 15s contracts back into play.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18I think when Rebecca reaches an age where

0:02:18 > 0:02:21she could be playing women's rugby professionally, hopefully they will

0:02:21 > 0:02:24be back in play and it's really important girls can aspire to be

0:02:24 > 0:02:27professional rugby players.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29So after hearing from these two players, what

0:02:29 > 0:02:32does Rebecca think?

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Personally, I believe it's not fair they've made

0:02:35 > 0:02:40these contract changes, the men's they've kept

0:02:40 > 0:02:45the same and they've changed it for the women.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47I don't believe it's right.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49What is it mean for your future in playing rugby?

0:02:49 > 0:02:54I think eventually it will go back but at the moment

0:02:54 > 0:02:58it is a bit worrying to see whether I could make it onto 7s.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Football now, and Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by European

0:03:03 > 0:03:08champions, Real Madrid, in last night's Super Cup.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Although Lukaku managed to score for United, Casemiro

0:03:10 > 0:03:12and Isco's goals for Madrid...

0:03:12 > 0:03:17meant the Spanish side lifted the Super Cup for a fourth time.

0:03:17 > 0:03:18Meet Mark Beaumont.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21He's on a mammoth mission to cycle around the world,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23in a record breaking 80 days.

0:03:23 > 0:03:28And he's just reached the halfway point of his journey in Australia.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Watch this.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37Mark Beaumont wants to be on the record books.

0:03:37 > 0:03:42Back in 2008, he cycled around the world in 194 days and set a new

0:03:42 > 0:03:44world record.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47His next adventure took him from Alaska in North

0:03:47 > 0:03:50America to Argentina in South America.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54And in 2015 he cycled the length of Africa from Cairo to Cape

0:03:54 > 0:03:58Town in just 42 days.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02But nearly ten years on from his first round the

0:04:02 > 0:04:04world record, it has been broken by other riders

0:04:04 > 0:04:07and now stands at 123 days.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10This time he isn't just trying to beat the existing record by a

0:04:10 > 0:04:11couple of days.

0:04:11 > 0:04:12That would be too easy!

0:04:12 > 0:04:15He is aiming to do it in just 80.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18It has not been easy.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Putting miles in the bank feels great.

0:04:20 > 0:04:25My front wheel went in, it was a huge hole.

0:04:25 > 0:04:31I felt a broken tooth in my mouth, I've chipped a good amount of it.

0:04:31 > 0:04:32End of day 26.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34That is the Chinese border.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36And it is closed!

0:04:36 > 0:04:39This is the end of leg one.

0:04:39 > 0:04:45I'm in Australia.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46That's it, it hasn't sunk in.

0:04:46 > 0:04:47It feels a bit weird.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50I am here with my hot water bottle, food and I

0:04:50 > 0:04:53will be asleep in about 20 minutes.

0:04:53 > 0:05:00It is an 18,000 mile journey in total which means he will have to

0:05:00 > 0:05:03bike more than 200 miles each day to set the record.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06Watch this space.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09It's where movies like the BFG and Transformers were filmed.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12The Isle of Skye in Scotland, is famous for its beautiful

0:05:12 > 0:05:13mountains and sparkling lochs.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16But now its got a problem, because it's getting

0:05:16 > 0:05:19full up of tourists, who locals say are trampling

0:05:19 > 0:05:21the landscape and dropping litter.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24They want extra funding from the Scottish government

0:05:24 > 0:05:27to help look after it.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29If you've been watching the World Athletics Championships

0:05:29 > 0:05:32you may have noticed the event's official mascot.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Hero the Hedgehog - he's been trying to get

0:05:34 > 0:05:39into the sporting action too.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Here he is trying to balance himself, but can he make it?

0:05:42 > 0:05:43Ouch!

0:05:43 > 0:05:46But can he save himself?

0:05:46 > 0:05:48Nightmare!

0:05:48 > 0:05:50That's all from me, but fear not, Newsround's back

0:05:50 > 0:05:51at 4:20pm with Ricky.

0:05:51 > 0:05:53Head online to work out what your summer

0:05:53 > 0:05:56holiday hobby should be - I'm a writer, apparently.

0:05:56 > 0:06:00Bye!

0:06:05 > 0:06:06Hello, everybody!

0:06:06 > 0:06:09My favourite TV programme on CBBC is Whoops I Missed The Bus
