:00:44. > :00:45.Well, day one of the Paralympic Games

:00:46. > :00:47.here in Rio was jam packed with record breaking performances

:00:48. > :00:52.and the only word that's on everyone's lips...is gold.

:00:53. > :00:55.Paralympics GB won five gold medals, three of those came

:00:56. > :01:00.from that stadium behind me. The velodrome.

:01:01. > :01:02.Dame Sarah Storey became Great Britain's most

:01:03. > :01:04.successful female Paralympian by winning her 12th gold medal

:01:05. > :01:10.The 38-year-old cyclist beat fellow Brit Crystal Lane,

:01:11. > :01:18.who took silver, in the C5 3,000m individual pursuit.

:01:19. > :01:21.To go so much quicker than I did in London is something I'm

:01:22. > :01:25.I was more consistent through the middle kilometre this

:01:26. > :01:27.morning than I was in London. More controlled.

:01:28. > :01:31.I didn't go out so controlled, a bit too quick.

:01:32. > :01:33.Earlier, Megan Giglia also won gold with a stunning

:01:34. > :01:42.Britain's third cycling gold went to Steve Bate,

:01:43. > :01:45.who has a visual impairment, and his pilot Adam Duggleby in the B

:01:46. > :01:53.And the success continued over in the aquatics centre.

:01:57. > :01:59.Ollie Hynd set a new world record to win the s8 400m freestyle final,

:02:34. > :02:42.Well, it WAS a bad day for American tennis star Serena Williams -

:02:43. > :02:45.she's been knocked out in the semi finals of the US Open.

:02:46. > :02:48.She was beaten by Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic.

:02:49. > :02:50.It means that Serena loses her world number one spot,

:02:51. > :02:56.and is now second behind Angelique Kerber.

:02:57. > :02:58.This is the Nasa Osiris-Rex spacecraft blasting off

:02:59. > :03:01.from Florida in the US, on a seven-year round trip to bring

:03:02. > :03:05.back some rock from an asteroid - so scientists can study it.

:03:06. > :03:12.But how on Earth, well, in space, is it going to do it?

:03:13. > :03:15.After launching, the spacecraft will orbit the sun for a whole year,

:03:16. > :03:17.before making its move towards Bennu.

:03:18. > :03:20.It will use mini rockets to get it nearer to the asteroid,

:03:21. > :03:26.And then, its moment will finally come.

:03:27. > :03:29.A robotic arm from the spacecraft will reach out and make contact

:03:30. > :03:36.That should be enough time to blast the asteroid with gas,

:03:37. > :03:40.grab some rock, up to the size of two bags of sugar.

:03:41. > :03:44.They'll only have three chances to do it, though.

:03:45. > :03:47.Then, hopefully, job will be done and Osiris-Rex will be

:03:48. > :03:52.It will be another very long journey back,

:03:53. > :04:03.not due to arrive on Earth until 2023. So, bon voyage!

:04:06. > :04:09.It's after a school in Kent hit the headlines this week for sending

:04:10. > :04:11.more than 50 pupils home because they weren't wearing

:04:12. > :04:14.Students in Manchester have been telling us what they think.

:04:21. > :04:24.People may not be able to afford everything.

:04:25. > :04:27.There are reasons behind it, they're not just coming into school
