:00:12. > :00:17.Channel this Friday morning. Here's what's coming up. Martin will be
:00:18. > :00:20.here to talk about last night's Brit nominations. We'll also hear from
:00:21. > :00:32.this lady. And we check out some very lucky runners. This is
:00:33. > :00:36.Newsround. Three quarters of the world's large carnivores, the likes
:00:37. > :00:46.of lions, wolves and bears, are in massive decline, according to a new
:00:47. > :00:49.study. Scientists studied 31 big meat-eaters and found numbers are
:00:50. > :00:53.most at risk in the Amazon, South East Asia and in southern and East
:00:54. > :00:57.Africa. They say the decline is due to the animals losing their habitat,
:00:58. > :01:00.being hunted by humans and not being able to find enough food. Now, the
:01:01. > :01:04.scientists are calling for a world-wide programme to help protect
:01:05. > :01:08.the animals affected. Next to Brazil, where sailors from all round
:01:09. > :01:11.the world, hoping to be selected for the Rio Olympics in 2016, are having
:01:12. > :01:16.to train in dirty and often unhealthy conditions. Many athletes,
:01:17. > :01:18.including a large British squad, are currently taking part in a
:01:19. > :01:22.pre-Olympic competition in Rio's Guanabara Bay. They have told the
:01:23. > :01:27.BBC they are risking serious illness every time they compete in the
:01:28. > :01:33.highly polluted waters. Campaigners are demanding it is cleaned up
:01:34. > :01:37.before the Games begin. It was a very starry night in London
:01:38. > :01:41.as the world of pop waited to find out who was nominated for a Brit
:01:42. > :01:44.Award. The list was announced by Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw in front
:01:45. > :01:52.of a very A-List crowd, including Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, and our
:01:53. > :01:58.Martin. And he's here now. What was it like, what did you find out? It
:01:59. > :02:05.was a fantastic night at the nominations party. The happiest have
:02:06. > :02:12.to be Bastille and Disclosure, four nominations each. They are followed
:02:13. > :02:18.by Ellie Goulding and Rudimental, few have three nominations. I had a
:02:19. > :02:22.chat with them. Ellie Goulding told me that the album that came out, it
:02:23. > :02:31.took a long time to get to number one. And we can have a listen. The
:02:32. > :02:38.album, number one, nominated for a Brit award, and you are performing.
:02:39. > :02:45.Amazing? Yes. I would love to win Best female, I do not know if I
:02:46. > :02:52.will. What other artists were down there? Jessie J, I spoke to her, and
:02:53. > :03:01.she happens to be best mates with LE. -- Ellie Goulding. One of my
:03:02. > :03:06.best friends is Ellie Goulding who has probably had the best year and I
:03:07. > :03:10.think she is amazing. I am so proud of her. She is a little bit behind
:03:11. > :03:19.me on the red carpet, I think she will win something. Rudimental at
:03:20. > :03:25.One Direction, what about them? It would not be the Brit Awards without
:03:26. > :03:30.One Direction. They are up for two. We will find out who wins on the
:03:31. > :03:35.19th of February. I hope I will be going. There will be a lot more on
:03:36. > :03:42.the website. And you can see Martin's chat with Rudimental. You
:03:43. > :03:55.can see the nominations and he also catches up with Birdy. The
:03:56. > :03:59.Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has won the African player of
:04:00. > :04:02.the year for the third year in a row. The 30-year-old Ivory Coast
:04:03. > :04:05.international scored for his club side in the League Cup semifinal
:04:06. > :04:09.first-leg victory against West Ham on Wednesday. He says he's proud of
:04:10. > :04:14.his achievements. I think I am lucky today. I am very proud of myself. I
:04:15. > :04:24.am doing very well and I am very happy with that. What do you do when
:04:25. > :04:27.you're feeling like you need a bit of luck? Cross your fingers? Or do
:04:28. > :04:31.you have a lucky number or toy? Watch out for flashes here. In
:04:32. > :04:34.Japan, the biggest luck goes to the man who runs the fastest. Around
:04:35. > :04:38.5,000 men made the dash through a shrine hoping to win good luck for
:04:39. > :04:47.the year ahead. The winner was 19-year-old runner Seiki Kyoda. He
:04:48. > :04:51.looks pleased with himself. That's all from me for now. If you sent in
:04:52. > :04:55.a question for the astronaut Chris Hadfield, head to the Newsround
:04:56. > :05:00.website to see if he answered it for you. What an amazing man. You can
