:00:29. > :00:34.More than nine in ten schools in the UK set homework,

:00:35. > :00:36.but some people don't think students in primary school

:00:37. > :00:40.I went to visit one school that's swapped spellings and sums

:00:41. > :00:46.I fit my entire body through a piece of A4 paper.

:00:47. > :00:52.These might sound like fun things you do on a weekend, but

:00:53. > :00:55.they were actually homework tasks, set by the headteacher at this

:00:56. > :00:58.primary school in Yorkshire, where they can pick different

:00:59. > :01:04.We used to do the normal English and maths and project-based, but we

:01:05. > :01:10.So we looked at changing ours to make it far more creative.

:01:11. > :01:12.In the UK, the government says it's up to headteachers to decide

:01:13. > :01:15.whether or not to set homework, so what did the children

:01:16. > :01:18.at the school think of the challenges that they

:01:19. > :01:23.I can choose what I want to do, and it's a great way to learn.

:01:24. > :01:26.I think that all children should do it this way.

:01:27. > :01:30.Now it's just so much more flexible and stress-free.

:01:31. > :01:34.I think it doesn't really get you prepared for high

:01:35. > :01:36.school, where you get a lot more homework.

:01:37. > :01:41.Also, you might have a lot of brothers or sisters like me.

:01:42. > :01:43.That means they have to do the same things as well.

:01:44. > :01:49.I'd say my mum isn't as stressed as she used to be.

:01:50. > :01:52.Because she used to get really annoyed if I didn't

:01:53. > :01:59.I don't think I'm missing out because I'm still doing the work

:02:00. > :02:04.I went to see their new style of homework for myself.

:02:05. > :02:06.Meet Pippa, she chose to make biscuits with her mum.

:02:07. > :02:09.So what is it like doing things like baking for your homework?

:02:10. > :02:16.In year one, we had to do stuff like quite hard homework

:02:17. > :02:21.But this time it's still to do with learning,

:02:22. > :02:25.And we are covering maths with the ingredients,

:02:26. > :02:27.and we're covering reading with the recipe, aren't we?

:02:28. > :02:32.But it's a much more fun way of doing it.

:02:33. > :02:36.Now I get to do a lot of cool stuff with my family and I've

:02:37. > :02:53.Loads of ideas there but do you think these

:03:35. > :03:38.Even down towards the Mediterranean, -3 degrees here.

:03:39. > :03:40.In the UK, it's been relatively mild.

:03:44. > :03:47.The Arctic is here, you can see the blue extending all the way down

:03:48. > :03:50.towards Italy and Greece, that brought the cold weather.

:03:51. > :03:53.If you look at the UK now, look at it turning blue.

:03:54. > :03:56.Our weather is going to come from the north-west but Arctic air

:03:57. > :04:01.Don't dust off your sledges just yet, it's going to be a cold day

:04:02. > :04:06.and there is the risk of snow but still some details uncertain.

:04:07. > :04:09.It was a big night at the Fifa awards last night.

:04:10. > :04:11.They're the group that run international football.

:04:12. > :04:15.There was good news for Leicester as their manager Claudio Ranieri won

:04:16. > :04:19.That's after he led the Foxes to that memorable

:04:20. > :04:25.And the big award, Player of the Year, went to,

:04:26. > :04:29.He's had an amazing season after leading Portugal

:04:30. > :04:32.to the European Championship and won the Champions League

:04:33. > :04:54.It was probably my best year so far. I have to include the trophy for the

:04:55. > :05:01.national team, the Portugal Metro national team, it was the first time

:05:02. > :05:04.in history for Portugal so I was so happy. And I cannot forget the title

:05:05. > :05:05.that we received for the Champions League.

:05:06. > :05:07.Check out these chimpanzees dipping and sipping.

:05:08. > :05:09.For the first time experts have managed to film chimpanzees making

:05:10. > :05:13.Scientists in the Ivory Coast in Africa shot the footage

:05:14. > :05:20.which shows the chimps making special water-dipping sticks

:05:21. > :05:23.by chewing the ends to turn it into a soft, soggy brush.

:05:24. > :05:26.And talking of clever animals, see if you can spot what this sneaky

:05:27. > :05:29.Shop owners in Toronto, in Canada, have been asking

:05:30. > :05:31.for advice about what to do with squirrels living

:05:32. > :05:39.The owners say squirrels have stolen more than 40

:05:40. > :05:44.chocolate bars, even sneaking in when they close the door.
