:00:00. > :00:00.however, there are new leaders in the form of Chelsea. So, for the

:00:00. > :00:00.special one, it's number one. Good Monday morning to you. This is

:00:07. > :00:10.Newsround with me, Ricky. On the brekkie menu today. We join the dogs

:00:11. > :00:14.on the front line sniffing out wildlife crime. And brooms at the

:00:15. > :00:21.ready. Britain's curling team are in action in Sochi.

:00:22. > :00:26.But first, 16 severe flood warnings, which mean a risk to life, are now

:00:27. > :00:30.in place across England. A wide stretch of the River Thames has

:00:31. > :00:33.reached its highest water level for more than 20 years, threatening

:00:34. > :00:41.thousands of homes. Berkshire and Surrey are the worst affected. The

:00:42. > :00:45.Army and the Navy have been called in to help build defences to try to

:00:46. > :00:48.divert the water away from populated areas. And parts of the River Severn

:00:49. > :00:51.in Shropshire and Worcestershire are at the highest levels for seven

:00:52. > :00:55.years. Forecasters say today will be the driest day of the week, but

:00:56. > :00:59.rivers could continue to rise as rainfall works its way downstream.

:01:00. > :01:02.Over in Australia they are battling dozens of bushfires sweeping across

:01:03. > :01:07.the south of the country. More than 1,000 firefighters are tackling the

:01:08. > :01:10.blazes in the state of Victoria. The fires are being fanned by hot

:01:11. > :01:13.weather and strong winds. Many residents have been ordered to leave

:01:14. > :01:17.their homes and at least 20 houses have been destroyed in the worst

:01:18. > :01:23.conditions since a very serious fire in 2009. Next, Prince William and

:01:24. > :01:26.his Dad Prince Charles have made a video calling for an end to the

:01:27. > :01:30.illegal wildlife trade. A big meeting takes place this week where

:01:31. > :01:33.world leaders will try to work out how to stop the crime. Campaigners

:01:34. > :01:36.say hunting animals like elephants and rhino has reached an all-time

:01:37. > :01:42.high and many endangered species are at risk of extinction. In the UK,

:01:43. > :01:44.the Border Force is in charge of stopping criminals from illegally

:01:45. > :01:48.transporting endangered plants and animals in and out of the country

:01:49. > :01:58.and we sent Nel to spend a day with them. London Heathrow is one of the

:01:59. > :02:02.busiest airports in the world. Every day, almost 200,000 passengers

:02:03. > :02:10.passed through its gates jetting off to countries across the globe. Many

:02:11. > :02:13.will be asked on the holidays, a small number are using airports to

:02:14. > :02:20.illegally transport endangered plants and animals in and out of the

:02:21. > :02:25.country. This is a detective dog trained to smell for any plants and

:02:26. > :02:30.animals illegally hidden in any number of these bags or suitcases.

:02:31. > :02:35.What kind of stuff is a finding which is important to the country?

:02:36. > :02:41.He's looking for a rhino horn, ivory, tortoise is,, that's what is

:02:42. > :02:45.trying to look for and when it's there, hopefully, you will find it.

:02:46. > :02:52.How do you know the something in the bag? His body language will change.

:02:53. > :02:56.He will freeze and look directly for me because I'm the one who would

:02:57. > :03:01.give him the reward. When he's found something illegal, what happens

:03:02. > :03:03.next? We informed the team and they investigate the background and where

:03:04. > :03:12.it's come from and whether it's illegal or not. Last year the border

:03:13. > :03:18.Force made more than 690 seasons, including 326 ivory items. And 93

:03:19. > :03:22.live animals. We have got the skin of a cat which comes from South

:03:23. > :03:30.America. We have got the skin of a place in, a very large snake, and

:03:31. > :03:35.ivory, a tooth from hippopotamus, and wood from trees which is now

:03:36. > :03:43.endangered. How bad is it? The trafficking is massive. A thousand

:03:44. > :03:47.rhinos poached last year. There is only 20,000 left in the world. An

:03:48. > :03:52.elephant is slaughtered in Africa every 15 how bad it is. It's a

:03:53. > :03:56.major, major moment in the world for that we have to do something now.

:03:57. > :04:01.The illegal trade in wildlife is a growing problem here and abroad and

:04:02. > :04:05.later this week, Prince William will be speaking at an event in London to

:04:06. > :04:08.some of the world's leaders in the hope they can come together to draw

:04:09. > :04:13.up plans to better protect some of the world's most endangered species

:04:14. > :04:16.from the threat of extinction. And, as you heard from Radzi, Man

:04:17. > :04:19.United's terrible season goes from bad to worse after they failed to

:04:20. > :04:22.win at home again. Darren Bent scored a late equaliser for

:04:23. > :04:27.bottom-placed Fulham, leaving David Moyes's side nine points adrift of

:04:28. > :04:31.the Champions League places. Sticking with sport as we head into

:04:32. > :04:38.day three of the Winter Olympics and Great Britain's curlers are in

:04:39. > :04:43.action. In the past few minutes, they have beaten the host, Russia,

:04:44. > :04:47.7-4. The women's team will play Sweden at 10am. Go girls. And head

:04:48. > :04:50.to the website to find out what action you should be looking out for

:04:51. > :04:54.in Sochi today. Britain's speed skaters are in action later on.

:04:55. > :04:56.That's all from me. Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.

:04:57. > :04:59.Bye bye.
