:01:34. > :01:37.this week, where world leaders will try to work out how to stop the
:01:38. > :01:40.crime. Campaigners say hunting animals like elephants and rhino has
:01:41. > :01:43.reached an all-time high, and many endangered species are at risk of
:01:44. > :01:46.extinction. In the UK, the Border Force is in charge of stopping
:01:47. > :01:49.criminals from illegally transporting endangered plants and
:01:50. > :01:51.animals in and out of the country. We sent Nel to spend a day with
:01:52. > :01:57.them. London Heathrow is one of the
:01:58. > :02:00.busiest airports in the world. Every day, almost 200,000 passengers pass
:02:01. > :02:08.through its gates, jetting off to countries across the globe. Many
:02:09. > :02:10.will be on their holidays. A small number are using airports to
:02:11. > :02:19.illegally transport endangered plants and animals in and out of the
:02:20. > :02:23.country. This is Tyke, a detective dog,
:02:24. > :02:29.trained to smell for any plants and animals illegally hidden in any
:02:30. > :02:36.number of these bags or suitcases. What kind of stuff is he finding
:02:37. > :02:39.which is imported to the country? He's looking for a rhino horn,
:02:40. > :02:46.ivory, tortoises. Birds, lizards. That's what is trying to look for.
:02:47. > :02:49.And when it's there, hopefully, he will find it.
:02:50. > :02:51.How do you know the something in the bag?
:02:52. > :02:53.His body language will change. He will freeze, and look directly for
:02:54. > :02:56.me. Because I'm the one who would give
:02:57. > :02:58.him the reward. When he's found something illegal,
:02:59. > :03:01.what happens next? We inform the team, and they
:03:02. > :03:05.investigate the background, and where it's come from. And whether
:03:06. > :03:08.it's illegal or not. Last year, the Border Force made
:03:09. > :03:17.more than 690 seizures. Including 326 ivory items. And 93 live
:03:18. > :03:21.animals. We have got the skin of a cat which
:03:22. > :03:28.comes from the jungles in South America. We have got the skin of a
:03:29. > :03:32.rock python. A very large snake. And ivory. A tooth from hippopotamus.
:03:33. > :03:34.And wood from trees which is now endangered.
:03:35. > :03:38.How bad is it? The trafficking is massive. A
:03:39. > :03:43.thousand rhinos poached last year. There is only 20,000 left in the
:03:44. > :03:47.world. An elephant is slaughtered in Africa every 15 minutes. That is how
:03:48. > :03:51.bad it is. It's a major, major moment in the world. We have to do
:03:52. > :04:02.something now. The illegal trade in wildlife is a
:04:03. > :04:05.growing problem here and abroad. And, later this week, Prince William
:04:06. > :04:09.will be speaking at an event in London to some of the world's
:04:10. > :04:12.leaders, in the hope they can come together to draw up plans to better
:04:13. > :04:14.protect some of the world's most endangered species from the threat
:04:15. > :04:18.of extinction. It's day three of the Winter
