:00:00. > :00:13.Good afternoon. I'm Ayshah, with your Monday Newsround. Coming up: I

:00:14. > :00:16.am in Worcester to find out how people are coping after the recent

:00:17. > :00:23.floods. We check out the day's thrills and

:00:24. > :00:27.spills from Sochi. First then, floods are gripping more

:00:28. > :00:30.and more parts of England, and the problem's getting worse. Record

:00:31. > :00:33.water levels are putting lives in danger and homes at risk. There are

:00:34. > :00:37.16 severe flood warnings, which means there's danger to life. The

:00:38. > :00:41.areas most at risk are along the River Thames, which is struggling to

:00:42. > :00:46.cope with all the heavy rain that's fallen in recent weeks. But it's not

:00:47. > :00:48.just the south-east - the country's longest river, the Severn, is

:00:49. > :00:51.causing big problems in the Midlands. Nel's been in Worcester,

:00:52. > :00:59.where the city centre could be closed for a week.

:01:00. > :01:05.The clean-up is well and truly under way, after the River Severn burst

:01:06. > :01:09.its banks early today. Water levels are incredibly high, and the water

:01:10. > :01:14.is moving really quite fast. That bridge behind me is one of the main

:01:15. > :01:19.bridges connecting the city from one side to the other. It was closed for

:01:20. > :01:25.most of the day. It has caused havoc. School ones are taking two or

:01:26. > :01:30.three hours. Roads like this one have been closed. But it isn't just

:01:31. > :01:35.the rows that have been affected. The local area, businesses, homes

:01:36. > :01:39.have been flooded, with many unable to open today and people having to

:01:40. > :01:44.leave their homes. Things are set to get worse before they get better.

:01:45. > :01:49.The agency-macro warns that the water levels will peak higher

:01:50. > :01:52.tomorrow than they do today. -- the Environment Agency.

:01:53. > :01:55.So is this bad weather ever going to end? Head to the website for a

:01:56. > :01:58.forecast for the next few days. Next, we're talking about the global

:01:59. > :02:01.problem of wildlife crime. The UK Border Force says trafficking and

:02:02. > :02:05.poaching is at an all-time high, putting many endangered species at

:02:06. > :02:09.risk of extinction. A big meeting of world leaders will take place in

:02:10. > :02:11.London this week to try to fight the problem. But nearby, at Heathrow

:02:12. > :02:14.Airport, there's a special member of the team stopping criminals from

:02:15. > :02:21.smuggling endangered plants and animals. Nel's got more.

:02:22. > :02:27.London Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world. Every

:02:28. > :02:33.day, almost 200,000 passengers pass through its gates. Yet a small but

:02:34. > :02:37.increasing number are using airports to illegally transport and

:02:38. > :02:40.endangered plants and animals in and out of the country. This is a

:02:41. > :02:46.detective dog trained to smile for any plants or animals that would be

:02:47. > :02:49.illegally hidden in any of these barracks. How do you know that

:02:50. > :02:56.something in that bag shouldn't be there? He would freeze, his tail

:02:57. > :03:04.might spin around, and he would look directly for me. Last year, dogs

:03:05. > :03:12.like this made more than 690 seizures, including three to six

:03:13. > :03:17.ivory items and also live animals. How bag is the trafficking?

:03:18. > :03:25.Trafficking and poaching of animals is a huge problem. An elephant is

:03:26. > :03:30.slaughtered in Africa every 15 minutes. This is a major moment in

:03:31. > :03:34.the world. We have to do something. Later this week, Prince William will

:03:35. > :03:39.be speaking at an event in London to some of the world's leaders, in the

:03:40. > :03:43.hope they can come together to draw up plans to protect some of the

:03:44. > :03:52.world's most endangered species from the threat of extinction for.

:03:53. > :03:54.Now to Sochi, where it's been another eventful day at the Winter

:03:55. > :03:58.Olympics. Here's Martin. There were highs and lows for Team

:03:59. > :04:01.GB in the curling. The men beat their Russian hosts in their first

:04:02. > :04:05.match, but the women lost to Sweden. But there's still plenty more

:04:06. > :04:08.matches to be played. High drama as Brit speed skater, Jack Whelbourne,

:04:09. > :04:11.crashed out of his 1500 metre short track final. But let's end on a

:04:12. > :04:13.high. 15-year-old home-grown superstar Yulia Lipnitskaya wowed

:04:14. > :04:21.crowds yesterday with this. No wonder she skated off with gold.

:04:22. > :04:24.And if you're feeling inspired by Jenny Jones's historic slopestyle

:04:25. > :04:33.medal win for Team GB, here's the snowboard star herself to tell you

:04:34. > :04:38.how to get started in her sport. I'm Jenny Jones, and if you enjoyed

:04:39. > :04:42.watching the slopestyle, Mike top tips to get into it would be to get

:04:43. > :04:48.yourself to a snow dome or a dry slope and check out the freestyle

:04:49. > :04:53.lessons you can have there. Head to the website to see a guide to the

:04:54. > :04:59.rest of Team GB's Winter medal Olympic prospects.

:05:00. > :05:03.That's all from me. Newsround's back just before 7pm. See you then.
