:00:00. > :00:11.Hi, I'm Ayshah with your evening Newsround update. First, more and

:00:12. > :00:14.more of England is being hit by a flooding crisis and the problem's

:00:15. > :00:18.getting worse. Record water levels are putting lives in danger and

:00:19. > :00:22.homes at risk. There are 16 severe flood warnings in place, which means

:00:23. > :00:26.there's danger to life. The areas most at risk are along the River

:00:27. > :00:30.Thames, where homes are being evacuated and thousands more are at

:00:31. > :00:33.risk from the rising water. But it's not just the south-east - the

:00:34. > :00:37.country's longest river, the Severn, is causing big problems in the

:00:38. > :00:39.Midlands. Nel's been in Worcester today where the river levels just

:00:40. > :00:49.keep on rising the clean-up is well underway after

:00:50. > :00:55.the River Severn burst its banks today. The water levels are just

:00:56. > :00:58.incredibly high. The water is moving really quite fast. That bridge

:00:59. > :01:01.behind me as one of the main bridges connecting the city from one side to

:01:02. > :01:05.the other and it was closed for the majority of today. It has caused

:01:06. > :01:10.havoc. School runs that would normally take 20 minutes are taking

:01:11. > :01:14.two or three hours. Today, lots of roads, including this one, have been

:01:15. > :01:18.closed due to flooding. That it's not just the roads, it is the local

:01:19. > :01:23.area. Businesses, homes have been flooded, with lots of them unable to

:01:24. > :01:29.open today. People have actively leave their homes. Things are set to

:01:30. > :01:31.get worse before they do get better. The Environment Agency warns that

:01:32. > :01:38.the water levels will Peter Hiatt tomorrow than today.

:01:39. > :01:45.So, is the bad weather ever going to end? Well, why have we had so much

:01:46. > :01:47.weird weather through autumn and winter?

:01:48. > :01:51.It's because the chart has looked like this. On Wednesday, a big area

:01:52. > :01:54.of low pressure, lots of white lines, meaning very strong wind.

:01:55. > :01:59.Just when you thought you had seen enough, another area of low pressure

:02:00. > :02:03.bringing yet more wind and rain across all parts of the British

:02:04. > :02:10.Isles. I and my colleagues will be forecasting more rain, more gales

:02:11. > :02:13.and, for some, snow and ice. And there's plenty of snow and ice

:02:14. > :02:16.in Sochi, where it's been another eventful day of Olympic action.

:02:17. > :02:21.Here's Martin. There were highs and lows for team

:02:22. > :02:26.GB in the curling. They beat the Russians in the first match, but the

:02:27. > :02:33.women lost to Sweden. But there are still plenty of matches to be

:02:34. > :02:37.played. Jack Whelbourne crashed out of his final. But let's end of a

:02:38. > :02:44.high. 15-year-old home-grown superstar that one Mac wowed crowds

:02:45. > :02:47.yesterday with this. No wonder she skated off with gold. -- Yulia

:02:48. > :02:50.Lipnitskaya. And if you're still feeling inspired by Jenny Jones's

:02:51. > :02:54.historic slopestyle medal win for Team GB, head to the website to get

:02:55. > :02:57.her tips on how to get into snowboarding, and for a guide to the

:02:58. > :03:00.rest of Team GB's medal prospects. That's all from me. Newsround's back
