:00:20. > :00:29.experiment... And the woman found alive after

:00:30. > :00:34.

:00:34. > :00:36.being trapped under a collapsed First we begin with some sad news -

:00:36. > :00:37.the death of the British Olympic sailor, Andrew Simpson, in a

:00:37. > :00:39.training accident in America. Tributes have been paid from across

:00:39. > :00:49.the sporting world to a man who won two Olympic medals for Great

:00:49. > :00:57.Britain. Nel has this report. A gold medal in Beijing, a silver at

:00:57. > :01:00.London 2012. Andrew Simpson was a top-class sailor, preparing for the

:01:00. > :01:02.sports big as competition, the America's Cup. But it was during

:01:02. > :01:06.training for the event yesterday that his vessel flipped over in San

:01:06. > :01:13.Francisco Bay, trapping him underneath. He was brought to shore,

:01:13. > :01:17.but doctors couldn't save him. had a tragic day to day on the Bay.

:01:17. > :01:21.Our thoughts and prayers are with Andrew Simpson's family, his wife

:01:21. > :01:27.and kids. Since the news of Andrew Simpson's death was announced,

:01:27. > :01:37.tributes have been coming in from across the sporting world. Close

:01:37. > :01:42.

:01:42. > :01:50.friend Olympic champion Ben Ainslie was shocked. And Beth twiddle said

:01:50. > :01:54.she was sad to hear the news. We'll wait to hear how this shocking

:01:54. > :02:00.tragedy could have happened. Next, an amazing story of survival

:02:00. > :02:03.in Bangladesh where woman has been pulled from the rubble of a

:02:03. > :02:07.collapsed building 17 days after it collapsed. She is thought to have

:02:07. > :02:11.stayed alive by drinking from a water pipe. More than 1000 people

:02:11. > :02:16.are now known to have died in the disaster when a clothing factory

:02:16. > :02:21.fell down. When your alarm went off this morning, how did you feel?

:02:21. > :02:31.Over the last 24 hours, we've been carrying out are in sleep experiment

:02:31. > :02:33.

:02:33. > :02:37.with a group of kids in Manchester. Loads of you have also been taking

:02:37. > :02:39.part in the Newsround website. Why are we doing this?

:02:39. > :02:44.Ricky has more. He's been up since 5am! Almost 1 million children from

:02:44. > :02:49.all over the world have taken part in a survey, which has uncovered

:02:49. > :02:53.some surprising stat. Research at Boston College in America asked kids

:02:53. > :02:57.in 50 countries about their sleep patterns. On average, almost half of

:02:57. > :03:03.primary school kids didn't get enough sleep, they found. America

:03:03. > :03:08.has the biggest problem, with almost three quarters of nine and

:03:08. > :03:15.ten-year-olds who took part in tests toughing from a lack of sleep. The

:03:15. > :03:22.UK was not -- England was not far behind. Experts are saying that this

:03:22. > :03:26.lot's gadgets are to blame. Gadgets have fast moving screens, which is

:03:27. > :03:31.quite engaging and complex. That can stimulate the brain and make it

:03:31. > :03:34.difficult to switch off. Yesterday I was here at this school in

:03:34. > :03:43.Manchester armed with Newsround 's special questionnaire. Today, I'm

:03:43. > :03:48.back. How did we get on? I had eight or nine hours, but I was a bit OP

:03:48. > :03:55.this morning. Last night, I had way too long on my tablet and I didn't

:03:55. > :03:59.get enough sleep. There are one or two who are not with it, and they

:03:59. > :04:04.find it difficult to learn. It's difficult for me as a teacher.

:04:04. > :04:08.results are in. Thank you very much. We are going to head back to the

:04:08. > :04:14.office now to take a look at these and find out if these guys are

:04:14. > :04:19.getting enough sleep. What did you learn? We spoke to 27 kids at school

:04:19. > :04:23.in Manchester aged between nine or ten years old, so this is just a

:04:23. > :04:32.snapshot. The most surprising thing was that three quarters of them take

:04:32. > :04:34.their gadgets to bed with them, and hide them under their beds, and the

:04:34. > :04:37.TV and those in smartphone devices and tablets are the worst offenders.

:04:37. > :04:44.We found out that a quarter of them say they could do with more sleep,

:04:44. > :04:49.which I thought was a surprising. Most go to bed at 9pm. Some of them
