:00:25. > :00:39.Now, last night, Barack Obama made an emotional final speech

:00:40. > :00:43.Talking in Chicago, he thanked his wife Michelle,

:00:44. > :00:46.as well as his family and staff, but asked the American people to put

:00:47. > :00:48.aside their differences and work together in the future.

:00:49. > :00:51.For the last time Barack Obama walks out on stage to speak

:00:52. > :00:58.The crowd in Chicago gave him a loud and passionate welcome.

:00:59. > :01:01.Obama addressed the audience, telling them he believed the country

:01:02. > :01:10.was in a better place than when he was first elected.

:01:11. > :01:16.Because of you, my almost every measure, America is the better,

:01:17. > :01:18.stronger place than it was when we started.

:01:19. > :01:21.It's been a tough period for the US with the recent election campaign

:01:22. > :01:24.bringing up lots of problems between people in the country,

:01:25. > :01:30.and Mr Obama said American's need to hold onto their values.

:01:31. > :01:35.We must guard against a weakening of the values that make us who we are.

:01:36. > :01:40.And Obama thanked his wife Michelle, as well as his family and staff,

:01:41. > :01:42.saying how proud he is to have held the position.

:01:43. > :01:52.It has been the honour of my life to serve you. Before making one final

:01:53. > :01:55.request from the crowd. I am asking you to believe not in my ability to

:01:56. > :01:57.bring about change, but in the yours.

:01:58. > :01:59.America is heading into a new and different future under

:02:00. > :02:01.new President Donald Trump, a change many people

:02:02. > :02:05.in the country feel was needed, but for the fans in the crowd

:02:06. > :02:07.Barack Obama will be missed and his speech hit

:02:08. > :02:16.It gave us a message of hope and encouragement and it was just what

:02:17. > :02:23.Should you have more, less or none at all?

:02:24. > :02:25.It's something adults have been arguing about for years,

:02:26. > :02:27.so we put two of them, with very different views

:02:28. > :02:30.on the subject, to a panel of ten primary school students.

:02:31. > :02:33.They will be listening to two different

:02:34. > :02:35.arguments about homework and making a decision

:02:36. > :02:36.about which side of the

:02:37. > :02:43.The issue of homework has been debated for more

:02:44. > :02:46.than 100 years, so let's hear what they've got to say.

:02:47. > :02:48.Nancy is from one of the biggest teachers' unions

:02:49. > :02:51.Traditional homework isn't necessarily helpful to you.

:02:52. > :02:53.Sometimes, your parents can't get involved in it, because they're

:02:54. > :02:57.Sometimes, they get too involved in it and so the teachers

:02:58. > :02:59.don't know whether you did the homework or somebody

:03:00. > :03:02.And sometimes, when they try and help you,

:03:03. > :03:03.they can't and that help

:03:04. > :03:10.On the other side of the argument is Chris,

:03:11. > :03:12.from the campaign for real education.

:03:13. > :03:15.If you like to learn things, it's a very good thing to do

:03:16. > :03:17.homework, because what homework does is to support your learning.

:03:18. > :03:21.So whether you get home work from the school or not, many,

:03:22. > :03:24.many parents will sit with their children and do work

:03:25. > :03:26.with them, because they know it makes sense.

:03:27. > :03:29.Let's do some homework and let's do some play.

:03:30. > :03:33.And then, they put our speakers to the test.

:03:34. > :03:34.Do you think homework affected your learning?

:03:35. > :03:38.I wish I had done better when I was at school.

:03:39. > :03:41.I wish I had done more homework, really.

:03:42. > :03:43.Homework at secondary school was a very good

:03:44. > :03:50.At primary school, I don't think it made very much difference.

:03:51. > :03:53.To Nancy and Chris, did you agree with anything the other one said?

:03:54. > :03:57.Nancy wants you to have an enjoyable childhood and I would agree with

:03:58. > :04:00.We disagree about how much time you should be working and how

:04:01. > :04:09.We both talked about the importance of balance.

:04:10. > :04:13.What I disagree with his, I think children your age have to do

:04:14. > :04:15.I think the balance is completely wrong.

:04:16. > :04:19.I really enjoy doing homework, especially on certain

:04:20. > :04:21.subjects and I agreed with the things that Chris said.

:04:22. > :04:23.Today sort of confirmed what my opinion about

:04:24. > :04:26.homework was, because Nancy said that home work has to be balanced

:04:27. > :04:29.properly, but I don't think for me it is quite balanced.

:04:30. > :04:33.Today, I changed my mind and I think homework is important, because

:04:34. > :04:35.it will help you in tests and in your later life.

:04:36. > :04:37.Some really interesting points raised today, but

:04:38. > :04:39.now it is time for this panel to make their decision.

:04:40. > :04:42.Of course, this is just a sample of opinions, but

:04:43. > :04:45.today in this classroom, with eight for homework and two against it,

:04:46. > :05:09.Now if you've got oodles of noodles and you don't know what to do

:05:10. > :05:12.That's what this lady in Singapore has done,

:05:13. > :05:15.but she's not making a jumper, it's actually for an art exhibition.

:05:16. > :05:17.It starts with buying the noodles, boiling them,

:05:18. > :05:21.It takes her three hours each day to knit a 20 cm long piece.

:05:22. > :05:28.Next up - what could you do in 11 hours?

:05:29. > :05:31.How about pull off one of the greatest tricks of all time?
