0:00:09 > 0:00:11Keep watching for this.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14Meet Hijarbie, the new online star.

0:00:14 > 0:00:18And the natural event that's attracted the crowds.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31On 11 March 2011, Japan was struck by one of the most powerful

0:00:31 > 0:00:33earthquakes on record.

0:00:33 > 0:00:37It caused a giant wave out at sea, called a tsunami, which grew

0:00:37 > 0:00:39to ten metres high.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Half an hour after the quake, the tsunami hit the north east coast

0:00:43 > 0:00:46of Japan, destroying everything in its path.

0:00:46 > 0:00:50Today, five years on from that terrible day, ceremonies have been

0:00:50 > 0:00:53taking place to mark the occasion and remember those

0:00:53 > 0:00:55who lost their lives.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59Hinako was one of the children whose lives changed forever that day,

0:00:59 > 0:01:03and Leah went to meet her.

0:01:05 > 0:01:11Today in Ishinomaki, life is returning to normal.

0:01:11 > 0:01:17But one girl who will never forget what happened that day is Hinako.

0:01:17 > 0:01:23TRANSLATION: I was sitting somewhere around here when we felt the quake.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25At first I didn't think it would be that big,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28but soon I realised it would be huge.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30We all went under desks to protect ourselves,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33but the desks were shifting and the windows

0:01:33 > 0:01:35were broken.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38We all knew the earthquake wouldn't be as small as the ones

0:01:38 > 0:01:40we were used to.

0:01:40 > 0:01:46So, this is the room that Hinako and her friends witnessed

0:01:46 > 0:01:49the tsunami waves rising and rising, and it was quite fast,

0:01:49 > 0:01:56it was quite high.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59TRANSLATION: It was shocking to see the seats of swings floating

0:01:59 > 0:02:00in the water.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02Rising up high enough to cover the whole slide.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04I wondered, if I was outside at this very moment,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06what would happen to me.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Hinako took us to where her old house used to be.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11No one in the house was killed, but this empty spot

0:02:11 > 0:02:15is all that remains.

0:02:15 > 0:02:17This was where your home used to be.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21Can you tell us what happened to it?

0:02:21 > 0:02:24TRANSLATION: Ever since I was born, I lived in this house with my mum,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26dad and big sister.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29She was alone at home when the tsunami hit

0:02:29 > 0:02:29the house.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32She ran to our neighbour and saw a car being washed away

0:02:32 > 0:02:34by the tsunami.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37She insisted she never wanted to live around here again.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40That's why we decided to leave the area.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42My school friends helped me after the difficult times

0:02:42 > 0:02:43following the tsunami.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46I have many friends now.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50I feel very lucky.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53And don't forget to head online to watch Leah's special report

0:02:53 > 0:02:57from Japan and find out exactly what happened five years ago today.

0:02:57 > 0:03:02Planting trees around rivers could help to protect some areas

0:03:02 > 0:03:05from flooding, according to new research.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08A report says that tree planting could help to lower water levels

0:03:08 > 0:03:12during floods by as much as 20%.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15It's just one of the ideas that's being put forward to help protect

0:03:15 > 0:03:19towns that are at risk.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22It was a mixed night for English clubs in the Europa League.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Tottenham lost 3-0 to German side Borussia Dortmund.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino meant that

0:03:29 > 0:03:32Liverpool beat Manchester United 2-0 in the first leg

0:03:32 > 0:03:34of their last 16 tie.

0:03:34 > 0:03:39Manager Jurgen Klopp was pleased with his team's performance.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Before the game, we knew it was only the first leg,

0:03:41 > 0:03:45but we need to win it, and we did, so that is great.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49Now, one week until the next game.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53We know it is not easy, but we are in a good position now.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55And we want to go to the next round.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57And for this, we have to play again like

0:03:57 > 0:03:59this at Manchester.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03A Barbie wearing a head scarf, called a hijab, has become

0:04:03 > 0:04:05a massive star online.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08A Nigerian Muslim blogger, called Haneefah Adam,

0:04:08 > 0:04:11started posting photos of Hijarbie three months ago.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14And she sent Newsround this report about why creating the doll's

0:04:14 > 0:04:18clothes is important to her.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Hello, my name is Haneefah Adam.

0:04:20 > 0:04:24I am a 24-year-old Nigerian and a medical scientist.

0:04:24 > 0:04:30I am currently the brain behind Hijarbie.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33I thought that I've not really seen a doll

0:04:33 > 0:04:38dressed up in hijab before, and I thought, why not create a doll

0:04:38 > 0:04:43that can actually dress the way I dress?

0:04:43 > 0:04:45And here we are.

0:04:45 > 0:04:51It takes me about two to three hours to sew and dress

0:04:51 > 0:04:56up, while I style a hijab.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59It is actually a really nice process, I enjoy doing it.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02It is quite important to me because I am a creative person,

0:05:02 > 0:05:04I love creating stuff.

0:05:04 > 0:05:08It is also important because a lot of Muslim girls can relate

0:05:08 > 0:05:11to the page because Hijarbie dresses like

0:05:11 > 0:05:12they dress.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16I hope to actually inspire a lot of girls out there.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20I hope to put the hijab in a more positive light.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23I also hope to create a sense of community,

0:05:23 > 0:05:28where people can actually be inspired by outfits and see how

0:05:28 > 0:05:35Islam can actually be beautiful.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38Tourists in South America were treated to an amazing natural

0:05:38 > 0:05:43sight when giant chunks of the Perito Moreno glacier broke

0:05:43 > 0:05:45off in front of them in southern Argentina.

0:05:45 > 0:05:49The glacier measures about 70 metres in height.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53Every so often ice breaks off and crashes into Lake Argentina.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56That's all from me this morning, Newsround's back this

0:05:56 > 0:05:57afternoon at 4.20.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00Do go online to try our brand new quiz of the week.
