0:00:25 > 0:00:26It's five years since Japan was hit by one of the most

0:00:28 > 0:00:30powerful earthquakes ever.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33It caused a giant wave out at sea, called a tsunami, which grew

0:00:33 > 0:00:35to ten metres high.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Half an hour after the quake, the tsunami hit the north-east coast

0:00:38 > 0:00:47of the country, destroying everything in its path.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Today, people have been paying tribute to those

0:00:49 > 0:00:51who lost their lives with a minute's silence at the time

0:00:51 > 0:00:52of the earthquake.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Clearing up and rebuilding has been a big task and children living

0:00:55 > 0:00:58there are given special classes so they know what to do

0:00:58 > 0:01:01if another earthquake hits.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04Leah travelled to Ishinomaki Elementary School to take part

0:01:04 > 0:01:12in a safety class.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Schoolkids across Japan learn how to be prepared in case anything

0:01:15 > 0:01:17like this happens again.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19These kids have regular lessons in staying safe

0:01:19 > 0:01:22if there's an earthquake.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24It was playtime here at this playground, and the children have

0:01:24 > 0:01:29just heard an announcement made on the tannoy, and it's been

0:01:29 > 0:01:33reinforced by the teachers here that an earthquake is about to happen.

0:01:33 > 0:01:41The idea is that everyone stays calm, collected and safe.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43TRANSLATION: We all went through the actual disaster

0:01:43 > 0:01:46and learned how scary it could be so it's important to have drills

0:01:46 > 0:01:48like this one.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52Of course, if I'm to face a real one, I'm sure I'll be nervous.

0:01:52 > 0:02:00But going through a drill like this is very important.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Head online to watch Leah's special report from Japan to find out

0:02:05 > 0:02:09exactly what happened five years ago today.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Storms have caused big problems in some of the southern

0:02:12 > 0:02:13states of America.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15In Texas, farms and houses were flooded because of

0:02:15 > 0:02:17the heavy rainfall.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Volunteers had to work quickly to rescue horses and other animals

0:02:20 > 0:02:22that became trapped by the flood waters.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25More than 30 centimetres of rain fell over a day and a half

0:02:25 > 0:02:29in the state.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32To football now, and Newcastle United have got a new manager.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Former Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has been named

0:02:34 > 0:02:36as the replacement to Steve McClaren, who was

0:02:36 > 0:02:39sacked earlier today.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41In a statement, the club thanked Steve for his work,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44saying that a change was needed to give the club the best chance

0:02:44 > 0:02:46of staying in the Premier League.

0:02:46 > 0:02:51There are just ten games to go until the end of the season.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53A Barbie wearing a headscarf, called a hijab, has become

0:02:53 > 0:02:56a massive star online.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00A Nigerian Muslim blogger, Haneefah Adam, started posting

0:03:00 > 0:03:03photos of Hijarbie three months ago.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05And she sent Newsround this report about why creating the doll's

0:03:05 > 0:03:09clothes is important to her.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13My name is Haneefa Adam, I'm a 24-year-old Nigerian

0:03:13 > 0:03:15and a medical scientist.

0:03:15 > 0:03:20I'm currently the brain behind Hijarbie.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24I thought that I've not really seen a doll that was just dressed up

0:03:24 > 0:03:27in a hijab before.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31And I thought, why not create a doll that can actually dress the way

0:03:31 > 0:03:34I dress.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36And here we are.

0:03:36 > 0:03:41It takes me about two to three hours to sew and dress her up,

0:03:41 > 0:03:45while I style a hijab.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49It's actually a really nice process I enjoy doing.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53It is actually quite important to me because I am a creative person.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55I love creating stuff.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58It's also important because a lot of Muslim girls can relate

0:03:58 > 0:04:02to the page because Hijarbie dresses like they dress.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06I hope to inspire a lot of girls out there.

0:04:06 > 0:04:11I hope to put the hijab wearing girl in a more positive light.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15I also hope to create a more inclusive community where people can

0:04:15 > 0:04:18actually be inspired by outfits and see how Islam can

0:04:18 > 0:04:25actually be beautiful.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Tourists in South America were treated to an amazing natural

0:04:27 > 0:04:31sight when giant chunks of the ice arch of the Perito Moreno glacier

0:04:31 > 0:04:35broke off in front of them in southern Argentina.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38The glacier measures about 70 metres in height.

0:04:38 > 0:04:44Every so often ice breaks off and crashes into Lake Argentina.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47That's all from me.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Newsround's back tomorrow morning at 8.55am.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Do go online to try our brand new quiz of the week.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Have a great evening.
