:00:00. > :00:07.Hi, guys. Martin here with news of which Voice judge is leaving the
:00:08. > :00:11.show on the way. Plus, I find out why flies and
:00:12. > :00:12.fighter jets have more in common than you might think.
:00:13. > :00:19.This is Newsround. But first, to the question of
:00:20. > :00:23.whether Team GB's golden era of cycling success will carry on into
:00:24. > :00:26.the next Olympics. That's because the man behind Britain's rise to
:00:27. > :00:31.world domination has stepped down today. Ayshah's been looking into
:00:32. > :00:35.why it's a big deal. Chris Hoy, Laura Trott, Victoria
:00:36. > :00:38.Pendleton, Jason Kenny. All gold medal winners at London 2012 and
:00:39. > :00:43.some of Britain's biggest cycling stars. But the man who helped them
:00:44. > :00:47.become a success has today announced that he's stepping down. It's from
:00:48. > :00:50.here at Manchester Velodrome that Sir Dave Brailsford masterminded the
:00:51. > :00:57.route to Olympic glory and made Team GB one of the best sporting teams in
:00:58. > :01:00.the world. Since he started his job as Performance Director in 2004,
:01:01. > :01:04.he's been knighted and has won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year
:01:05. > :01:10.Coach Award twice. But it's his Olympic achievements that are most
:01:11. > :01:15.impressive. Team GB won a total of 43 cycling medals in just over 100
:01:16. > :01:18.years, before he took over. But in the three Olympics he's overseen,
:01:19. > :01:28.they've won 30 medals, including 18 golds. So how did he do it? What Sir
:01:29. > :01:31.Dave Brailsford did is, he used to look at all the little things that
:01:32. > :01:36.went into a rider's preparation for competition, likely pillows they
:01:37. > :01:40.sleep one night to have around the wheels are on their bicycle, to even
:01:41. > :01:45.things like how long they would wash their hands. All those little things
:01:46. > :01:49.together ensure that the riders in competition were at peak
:01:50. > :01:54.performance. How much Will British cycling missing? I think they will
:01:55. > :01:59.miss him a lot will stop he has enjoyed a lot of success in the last
:02:00. > :02:01.few years, but he has left a system in place to ensure this can carry
:02:02. > :02:05.on. Sir Dave will continue working with Team Sky's road racers, who
:02:06. > :02:09.he's helped to win the Tour de France for the last two years. It
:02:10. > :02:13.won't be until the next Olympics in 2016 that we'll find out how Team GB
:02:14. > :02:15.get on without the man with the golden touch.
:02:16. > :02:17.To America next, and a big debate about keeping killer whales in
:02:18. > :02:20.captivity. These schoolgirls delivered 1.2 million signatures
:02:21. > :02:23.supporting a campaign to get SeaWorld in San Diego to stop using
:02:24. > :02:27.orcas like this in entertainment shows. Backers of the campaign say
:02:28. > :02:30.it's cruel, but the people who work with the orcas at SeaWorld say it
:02:31. > :02:36.helps with research they couldn't do in the wild. A decision on the ban's
:02:37. > :02:40.been delayed until next year while law makers look at both sides of the
:02:41. > :02:44.argument. Onto music, and it's bad news for
:02:45. > :02:47.all you Voice fans out there. Watch out for the flashes. Kylie Minogue's
:02:48. > :02:51.announced today that she's quitting the show after just one series. She
:02:52. > :02:56.says she can't commit to another one because she's going on tour. There's
:02:57. > :02:59.no news yet on who'll replace her. And in football, the Champions
:03:00. > :03:03.League semifinal draw was made today, and here's how it looks.
:03:04. > :03:06.Chelsea will take on Spanish side Atletico Madrid, who beat them 4-1
:03:07. > :03:09.the last time they met. Defending champions Bayern Munich go up
:03:10. > :03:11.against Real Madrid in the other game. The final's in Portugal at the
:03:12. > :03:15.end of May. against Real Madrid in the other
:03:16. > :03:20.game. The final's in Portugal at the A quick question for you next - what
:03:21. > :03:23.do a fruit fly and a fighter jet have in common? Well, actually a lot
:03:24. > :03:27.more than you probably think. We've all been there. You're trying
:03:28. > :03:32.to have some food in the kitchen, when you hear the buzz of a fly.
:03:33. > :03:39.But, however hard you try, you just can't quite swat it! Now, scientists
:03:40. > :03:43.in America think they know why. They've been studying how they fly
:03:44. > :03:47.using special high-speed cameras. This clip, slowed down 300 times,
:03:48. > :03:48.shows the flight of a fly after it was shown a picture of a potential
:03:49. > :03:53.predator. was shown a picture of a potential
:03:54. > :03:57.The team found that flies work just like fighter jets to avoid an
:03:58. > :04:01.oncoming threat. They can make a banked turn to change direction
:04:02. > :04:04.within a split second. And the scientists are amazed at how fast a
:04:05. > :04:14.fly's brain can work, even though it's the size of a grain of salt! We
:04:15. > :04:18.could already see it beginning to change direction within about a
:04:19. > :04:21.single wing beat, which is only one 5000th of a second. Researchers also
:04:22. > :04:25.used a special robot called Robo-fly, which flaps in a giant oil
:04:26. > :04:28.tank to study how wings move through the air. It's being seen as an
:04:29. > :04:31.exciting insight into the life of flies.
:04:32. > :04:33.But they still can't tell me how to get anywhere nearer to catching one
:04:34. > :04:40.of them. And some cheeky chimp news to
:04:41. > :04:44.finish. Kansas City Zoo in America had to be closed after several
:04:45. > :04:47.chimps escaped their enclosures and went on the loose. Security cameras
:04:48. > :04:50.picked up this one scaling the zoo walls. Visitors were told to stay
:04:51. > :04:53.inside while zoo staff tracked them down.
:04:54. > :04:57.You can test your knowledge with our quiz of the week on the website now.
