:00:27. > :00:28.First, the Easter holidays are over and many kids went

:00:29. > :00:32.back to school today, but over 7,000 of you

:00:33. > :00:34.haven't been able to get back in the classroom.

:00:35. > :00:37.It's because of fears that some school buildings

:00:38. > :00:42.The problems were discovered when the side of this school

:00:43. > :00:45.Edinburgh Council has now closed 17 schools,

:00:46. > :00:49.all built by the same company, until they can each be

:00:50. > :00:54.inspected to make sure they're safe for students.

:00:55. > :01:04.It's quite disruptive, because we need to finish

:01:05. > :01:07.to do assessments, and they were meant to be

:01:08. > :01:08.happening this week, but

:01:09. > :01:12.The only surviving play script to have William Shakespeare's

:01:13. > :01:16.at the British Library in London this week -

:01:17. > :01:23.Even though it was written centuries ago - he talks about an issue that's

:01:24. > :01:25.still making the headlines today: migrants and refugees.

:01:26. > :01:31.People want to come to the UK for lots of different reasons.

:01:32. > :01:33.Some people are looking for better jobs,

:01:34. > :01:38.Today, it's an issue for a lot of people,

:01:39. > :01:42.Shakespeare was inspired to write this script because of the

:01:43. > :01:46.way refugees and migrants were being treated.

:01:47. > :01:48.In Shakespeare's time, there were riots in London.

:01:49. > :01:51.Some people were angry about refugees and

:01:52. > :01:54.migrants coming to live here from abroad.

:01:55. > :01:57.They were worried that it would mean fewer jobs are places to

:01:58. > :02:06.Zoe Wilcox from the British library thinks there are similarities today.

:02:07. > :02:08.So, can you tell me what was happening back then?

:02:09. > :02:10.There were lots of people who were leaving Europe,

:02:11. > :02:13.people were being killed for their religious beliefs in much

:02:14. > :02:18.the same way that people are today leaving

:02:19. > :02:21.Syria because IS are killing people for their religious beliefs.

:02:22. > :02:23.Why did some people not want migrants and

:02:24. > :02:26.People were worried that their jobs might

:02:27. > :02:29.be at risk from the increase opposition from people coming in

:02:30. > :02:34.And what message was he tried to get across?

:02:35. > :02:37.The character is asking the rioters to stop and think

:02:38. > :02:43.and understand what the refugees might be going through.

:02:44. > :02:48.What country by the nature of your error

:02:49. > :02:51.So, Zoe, this is Shakespeare's only surviving

:02:52. > :02:55.It's quite complicated to understand.

:02:56. > :03:01."Would you be pleased to find a nation of such

:03:02. > :03:06."in hideous violence would not afford you an abode on earth?"

:03:07. > :03:12.So, the character is speaking to the rioters, and he is

:03:13. > :03:15.saying "how would you feel if you were forced to leave your home

:03:16. > :03:19."country and you weren't able to find a safe place to live?"

:03:20. > :03:22.You would then become strangers in your own land.

:03:23. > :03:24.The issue of refugees and migrants coming

:03:25. > :03:26.here worries some people when

:03:27. > :03:30.it comes to things like jobs, houses, and religious beliefs.

:03:31. > :03:33.In the 17th century, Shakespeare felt

:03:34. > :03:35.passionately in support of the migrants,

:03:36. > :03:41.People are still debating the same issue today.

:04:37. > :04:49.The first thing I ate after the show was a bag of sweets.
