:01:38. > :01:45.Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has called on Brazilian fans

:01:49. > :01:53.connections and they both speak the same language, Portuguese.

:02:47. > :02:55.Next, rescuers are fighting to save the life of a man trapped nearly

:02:56. > :02:59.a thousand metres below ground inside Germany's deepest cave.

:03:00. > :03:03.The man was injured by a rock fall at the weekend and he's

:03:04. > :03:07.so far underground that it took the rescue team 12 hours to reach him.

:03:08. > :03:11.A huge mission has been launched to get him to safety, but bringing him

:03:12. > :03:14.to the surface through the cave system is a very difficult

:03:15. > :03:19.The German Alps, near the southern Bavarian town of Berchtesgaden,

:03:20. > :03:23.home to some of the deepest and most challenging caves in Europe.

:03:24. > :03:26.It's here, in the early hours of Monday morning, that a caving

:03:27. > :03:32.One of three men carrying out research in the caves was badly

:03:33. > :03:37.injured by falling rocks, trapping him a thousand metres underground.

:03:38. > :03:44.One of the team went for help, the other stayed with the injured man.

:03:45. > :03:47.A huge rescue mission was launched and on Monday evening,

:03:48. > :03:55.Buried so far below the ground, it took the team 12 hours to reach him.

:03:56. > :03:59.Now they're faced with a very difficult problem - how to move the

:04:00. > :04:16.Rescues are always more difficult from the surface, because it is dark

:04:17. > :04:18.and cold. In this case, the rescuers had the added problem of having to

:04:19. > :04:22.pull the casualty up in a stretcher.

:04:23. > :04:25.Rescuers have dropped a telephone line to the team with

:04:26. > :04:27.the man and cave specialists, medical teams and mountain rescue

:04:28. > :04:32.But it could be days before they reach the surface.
