0:00:13 > 0:00:17Morning guys, Ayshah here with your Monday Newsround.
0:00:17 > 0:00:21First up, loads of you will be staying at home today as hundreds
0:00:21 > 0:00:23of schools are closed because of the wintery weather.
0:00:23 > 0:00:25Watch this.
0:00:25 > 0:00:28There was plenty of fun to be had yesterday as snowy weather
0:00:28 > 0:00:31swept across the UK.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34Up to 30cm of snow coated parts of the country
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Up to 30cm of snow coated parts of the country.
0:00:37 > 0:00:43I like it because where we live we never get any snow!I like snow
0:00:43 > 0:00:49because you can make snow angels and snowmen! I find it really fun to do.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51And the freezing conditions have continued this morning,
0:00:51 > 0:00:52meaning hundreds of schools across England and Wales
0:00:52 > 0:00:55will be closed because of the wintry weather.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58Temperatures have been between -1 and one degrees in built-up
0:00:58 > 0:01:02areas, but as low as -10C in some countryside areas.
0:01:02 > 0:01:10Yesterday the snow saw trains and flights cancelled,
0:01:10 > 0:01:12and provided a snowy backdrop for some big rugby
0:01:12 > 0:01:13and footy matches.
0:01:13 > 0:01:16The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings of ice for Wales,
0:01:16 > 0:01:18the Midlands and the South East.
0:01:18 > 0:01:20It also warned of more wintry showers and icy conditions
0:01:20 > 0:01:23across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
0:01:23 > 0:01:27There could be up to 5cm of more snow in some parts of the South.
0:01:27 > 0:01:33So keep those gloves on, there may be time to build another snowman!
0:01:33 > 0:01:36And we want to hear from you today - are you stuck at home
0:01:36 > 0:01:39because of the snow or are you in school but having fun?

0:01:42 > 0:01:51of what you are up to!
0:01:51 > 0:01:54This Christmas, thousands of kids in the UK are caring for relatives
0:01:54 > 0:01:56who are ill or can't look after themselves.
0:01:56 > 0:01:59We went to meet Abi to find out how she and her mum
0:01:59 > 0:02:06will be spending the holidays.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09If I could have a wish, like one wish, it would be
0:02:09 > 0:02:10to make my mum's illness go.
0:02:10 > 0:02:13For Abi and her mum, Christmas is their favourite time of year.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15But unlike most 11-year-olds, Abi cannot just chill
0:02:15 > 0:02:16out over the holidays.
0:02:16 > 0:02:26Her mum has a disease called MS.
0:02:29 > 0:02:32That sometimes stops her from doing the stuff that she wants,
0:02:32 > 0:02:33like running, walking, and doing simple activities
0:02:33 > 0:02:34like bending as well.
0:02:34 > 0:02:37That means that Abi has to help her mum do certain things,
0:02:37 > 0:02:38even on Christmas Day.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41When I wake up, I help her put some socks on and shoes.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43I come down but I don't open presents.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44I make breakfast instead.
0:02:44 > 0:02:46It's not how you normally spend Christmas.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49You feel like you want to do more, especially when there
0:02:49 > 0:02:51is more special times, you want to help and
0:02:51 > 0:03:01you want to be there.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10So being a carer for your mum, does that mean that sometimes
0:03:10 > 0:03:13you miss out on doing things that people your age would
0:03:13 > 0:03:14normally be doing?
0:03:14 > 0:03:16Well, most young kids could go to the park
0:03:16 > 0:03:19or play with their friends, but if my mum is ill,
0:03:19 > 0:03:24or I need to stay on, I kind of don't have
0:03:24 > 0:03:30that opportunity often.
0:03:30 > 0:03:32Abi will go off and do all of those brilliant things
0:03:32 > 0:03:35but in her head she is always thinking, where's Mum?
0:03:35 > 0:03:36Who is with mum?
0:03:36 > 0:03:39It can be really tough caring for a relative but luckily Abi gets
0:03:39 > 0:03:42lots of support from her school and at a special group
0:03:42 > 0:03:43run by a charity.
0:03:43 > 0:03:48The help that I get says just because you are a young carer
0:03:48 > 0:03:55doesn't mean you are different to everyone else.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57Every bit of being a young carer is amazing, because you can
0:03:57 > 0:04:00go out with Barnardos, or Barnardos could help
0:04:00 > 0:04:05you and it's a sign that you are not alone with this.
0:04:05 > 0:04:08You have people that will help you.
0:04:08 > 0:04:11What does it mean to you to be a carer for your mum?
0:04:11 > 0:04:14It's like cheese and crackers or strawberries and cream,
0:04:14 > 0:04:21we stick together for everything.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23Thank you for sharing your story.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26OK - we've got the latest Strictly news now, so if you don't
0:04:26 > 0:04:29want to know, close your eyes and hum the theme tune
0:04:29 > 0:04:30for about 30 seconds...
0:04:30 > 0:04:32It's going to be an epic final.
0:04:32 > 0:04:33Jerry and Casio!
0:04:40 > 0:04:43Joe McFadden from Holby TV was first through along with Debbie McGhee
0:04:43 > 0:04:44and Alexandra Burke.
0:04:44 > 0:04:47That meant Gemma and Molly in the dance off, and unfortunately
0:04:47 > 0:04:50Molly lost out and will not be in next week's grand final.
0:04:50 > 0:04:53That's it from me for now, Newsround's back in about half
0:04:53 > 0:04:55an hour when you can find out about Britian's
0:04:55 > 0:05:00new tallest mountain.
0:05:00 > 0:05:01No way! See you
