0:00:03 > 0:00:05Good morning all. It's Thursday, it's Newsround.
0:00:05 > 0:00:06I'm Ricky.
0:00:06 > 0:00:08Coming up:
0:00:08 > 0:00:14We meet the spy cameras hiding in the wild.
0:00:14 > 0:00:24And what one teenager has built with snow in his back garden.
0:00:25 > 0:00:29First, this year is going to see some big changes
0:00:29 > 0:00:33to the way our country deals with its neighbours.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36Martin and Ayshah love the seaside, even at this time of year,
0:00:36 > 0:00:39so we sent them out to find out more.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41This is Brighton.
0:00:41 > 0:00:44It's got a pier, it's got a tower, it's got the sea,
0:00:44 > 0:00:45and it's even got sand.
0:00:45 > 0:00:51Well, kind of.
0:00:51 > 0:00:52This is Blackpool.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55It's got a pier, it's got a tower, and, you guessed
0:00:55 > 0:00:59it, it's got the sea.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02But there were some differences between the two when it comes
0:01:02 > 0:01:04to the vote that adults took last year for Britain to leave
0:01:04 > 0:01:10a club of countries called the European Union.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13Here in Brighton, most people voted to stay.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17But here in Blackpool, most people voted to leave.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19Now, this year, the UK Government is going to tell the European Union
0:01:19 > 0:01:23that we're leaving.
0:01:23 > 0:01:26So what do kids in these two places think of that decision?
0:01:26 > 0:01:32I think leaving the EU is a good thing, because we will have more
0:01:32 > 0:01:37control of our money and can give it to services who need it
0:01:37 > 0:01:42most, like hospitals and schools.
0:01:42 > 0:01:46I chose to stay in the EU because I want to be united
0:01:46 > 0:01:47with other countries.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50For a few weeks or a couple of months, we might take a bit
0:01:50 > 0:01:54of time to get used to the idea that we're not in the EU any more,
0:01:54 > 0:01:57we don't really have any countries to really back us up as we used to.
0:01:57 > 0:02:01But I do feel that we will get used to it and that we will make
0:02:01 > 0:02:03Britain great again.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06If we'd stayed in we could have moved on and forgotten about it
0:02:06 > 0:02:08and still have the good deals and good relationships with them.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11And now, because we've left, we have to find different
0:02:11 > 0:02:18deals, we have to find, in a way, new friends.
0:02:18 > 0:02:23I think that people coming from different countries
0:02:23 > 0:02:28is like losing our money, so getting people's life back
0:02:28 > 0:02:31on track will get more money for us, because we're only a small country
0:02:31 > 0:02:34and the money that we give away is quite a lot.
0:02:34 > 0:02:37I feel that we could be not as safe as we were.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39There is a bigger chance that we could make enemies
0:02:39 > 0:02:41with the other countries in the EU now.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43It's frustrating when big decisions are getting made,
0:02:43 > 0:02:47because we don't get a say in the decisions and I think
0:02:47 > 0:02:52we should, because we're the ones that are going to be
0:02:52 > 0:02:59affected by them.
0:02:59 > 0:03:00To football, and England women's record goal-scorer,
0:03:00 > 0:03:02Kelly Smith, says she's
0:03:02 > 0:03:05going to retire from football.
0:03:05 > 0:03:10The 38-year-old scored 46 goals in 117 appearances for her country.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13She's now going to work as a coach at Arsenal.
0:03:13 > 0:03:17Now, if you're missing Planet Earth II, there's a
0:03:17 > 0:03:19new nature show called Spy In The Wild on tonight.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Think furry robots, spy cameras, and you've got one
0:03:21 > 0:03:22pretty unique nature show.
0:03:22 > 0:03:27Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?
0:03:27 > 0:03:34By a meerkat!
0:03:34 > 0:03:36Meet Huw Williams.
0:03:36 > 0:03:39He's a cameraman on the brand-new show Spy In The Wild,
0:03:39 > 0:03:43which uses animal robots to help spy on animals in the wild.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46We wanted to find out a little bit more about these
0:03:46 > 0:03:51rather hairy robots.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53Tell us who have we got here?
0:03:53 > 0:03:55Here we have spy meerkat and spy peccary.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57There's 34 different robots, how did you make them?
0:03:57 > 0:03:59It's kind of a group effort.
0:03:59 > 0:04:02We have different engineers from around the world and some
0:04:02 > 0:04:04people do the internal robotics, whilst others do the aesthetics
0:04:04 > 0:04:09and design the skins and make them look the part.
0:04:09 > 0:04:10So these are the remote controls.
0:04:10 > 0:04:11Yes.
0:04:11 > 0:04:14That looks familiar.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17This is almost like your average PlayStation remote control.
0:04:17 > 0:04:18This controls the spy peccary here.
0:04:18 > 0:04:21Look at that!
0:04:21 > 0:04:22You are moving its head.
0:04:22 > 0:04:24That's quite realistic, the way it's moving its head.
0:04:24 > 0:04:26Yeah.
0:04:26 > 0:04:29That's the key, really, is to make these robotics look
0:04:29 > 0:04:31and act like the real thing, just to try and convince
0:04:31 > 0:04:40the animals out there and make them feel comfortable.
0:04:40 > 0:04:41Where would the camera be?
0:04:41 > 0:04:43The cameras are in fact in the eyes.
0:04:43 > 0:04:46All of our spy creatures are hiding a hidden camera.
0:04:46 > 0:04:48They're in the eye.
0:04:48 > 0:04:51What was the most surprising thing you learned in this series?
0:04:51 > 0:04:53There's one in particular, a spy meerkat here, the wild
0:04:53 > 0:04:55meerkats actually handed over baby-sitting responsibilities
0:04:55 > 0:04:59to our spy meerkat, and so they left these babies with him,
0:04:59 > 0:05:04whilst they went off hunting for food, which was fantastic.
0:05:04 > 0:05:11If you could create any robotic animal, which animal would it be?
0:05:11 > 0:05:13I think it would be the cheetah.
0:05:13 > 0:05:14Purely because I would just love to see
0:05:14 > 0:05:16a robot moving at that pace.
0:05:16 > 0:05:21But I think that's going to be the next step for us.
0:05:21 > 0:05:24There's been lots of wintry weather across the UK overnight -
0:05:24 > 0:05:28strong winds, low temperatures and even some snow showers.
0:05:28 > 0:05:30But will the UK get enough snow for a proper snowman?
0:05:30 > 0:05:32Well, we want your weather updates.
0:05:32 > 0:05:34If the snow starts falling where you are, you can send
0:05:34 > 0:05:37us your pictures or your own weather report by going online.
0:05:37 > 0:05:40If you do get snow in your area, you might want to try this.
0:05:40 > 0:05:43A teenager from Austria has built his very own miniature ski
0:05:43 > 0:05:44resort in his back garden.
0:05:44 > 0:05:46Kevin Pobatschnig has created chair lifts,
0:05:46 > 0:05:51ski slopes and skiers as part of his mini ski village.
0:05:51 > 0:05:53That's all from me.
0:05:53 > 0:05:57Newsround's back at 4:20.
0:06:04 > 0:06:06Well met. To celebrate the start of the new Worst Witch,
0:06:06 > 0:06:09we want you to get creative and come up with the name of a spell.
0:06:09 > 0:06:11And to tell us what that spell does.
0:06:11 > 0:06:13All you have to do is head to the CBBC HQ page,
0:06:13 > 0:06:16leave us a comment and you could be seeing your spell on the telly.
