0:00:10 > 0:00:11Hi, guys, it's Friday.
0:00:11 > 0:00:12I'm Whitney.
0:00:12 > 0:00:13This is Newsround.
0:00:13 > 0:00:14Coming up...
0:00:14 > 0:00:16From the wonderful to the weird.
0:00:16 > 0:00:19We get ready for Eurovision.
0:00:19 > 0:00:23And the sea ice that looks like dragons' skin.
0:00:32 > 0:00:36First up it's the Eurovision Song Contest this weekend and singers
0:00:36 > 0:00:39from across Europe and Australia will be battling it out
0:00:39 > 0:00:40to be crowned the winner.
0:00:40 > 0:00:41Take a look!
0:00:41 > 0:00:44Let's talk Europe.
0:00:44 > 0:00:46No, not the continent.
0:00:46 > 0:00:48No, nothing to do with Brexit.
0:00:48 > 0:00:51It's the song contest!
0:00:51 > 0:00:54Full of dodgy dances, creative costumes and,
0:00:54 > 0:00:57of course, singing talent.
0:00:57 > 0:00:59It can only be Eurovision.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02So, what can we look forward to this year?
0:01:02 > 0:01:05Well, for the last two years Australia has been allowed to take
0:01:05 > 0:01:07part even though they're not in Europe.
0:01:07 > 0:01:10But the country is a huge fan of the competition, so why not?!
0:01:10 > 0:01:13They're trying their luck with this entry.
0:01:13 > 0:01:20# But it don't come easy...
0:01:20 > 0:01:23If you fancy watching a more unusual act, check out Romania.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25Their contestants yodel.
0:01:25 > 0:01:27# Yodel-e-hee.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29# Yodel-e-hee, yodel-e-hee.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33# Yodel-e-hee.
0:01:33 > 0:01:36But the big favourite to win this year is Italy.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39It's a catchy tune.
0:01:39 > 0:01:42Then an ape turns up in the middle of the routine.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45It's surely going to do well.
0:01:45 > 0:01:50Former X Factor contestant Lucie Jones will be flying the flag
0:01:50 > 0:01:56for the UK with this song, called Never Give Up On You.
0:01:56 > 0:02:00The UK's won the contest five times before, the last being 20 years ago.
0:02:00 > 0:02:03Can Lucie bring it back for us?
0:02:03 > 0:02:07Good luck, everyone.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09Sport next and Chelsea will win the Premier League
0:02:09 > 0:02:12if they beat West Brom tonight.
0:02:12 > 0:02:15They lead Tottenham by seven points, and need just one win from three
0:02:15 > 0:02:17games to be sure of the title.
0:02:17 > 0:02:21It will be their second title in three seasons.
0:02:21 > 0:02:25Sticking with footie it's the Women's FA Cup final.
0:02:25 > 0:02:32Birmingham City take on league champions Manchester City at Wembley
0:02:32 > 0:02:33tomorrow night.
0:02:33 > 0:02:34Saturday's final will see two close
0:02:34 > 0:02:36friends go head-to-head - Manchester City's centre-back
0:02:36 > 0:02:39Steph Houghton and Birmingham striker Ellen White.
0:02:39 > 0:02:41City are favourites to win and Steph says playing in the final has
0:02:41 > 0:02:45always been her aim.
0:02:45 > 0:02:47You always dream of playing at Wembley and you always dream
0:02:47 > 0:02:49of captaining your side.
0:02:49 > 0:02:53Ever since I have joined this club it is about trying to win the FA Cup
0:02:53 > 0:02:55and we are one step closer to doing that.
0:02:55 > 0:02:59Definitely up there with the stuff that I have achieved so far.
0:02:59 > 0:03:03Now take a closer look at this - it's ice, but not as you've
0:03:03 > 0:03:06ever seen it before.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09It's a massive sheet of ice that looks just like a dragon's scales.
0:03:09 > 0:03:11Hayley's got this.
0:03:11 > 0:03:14When you think of dragons you probably think of hot,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17fire breathing and sharp teeth.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20But what about freezing cold ice.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23Some scientists on a research trip to Antarctica have
0:03:23 > 0:03:30spotted dragon-like ice.
0:03:30 > 0:03:34A rare kind of sea ice that has not been seen in ten years.
0:03:34 > 0:03:36It sounds cool but how did it all happen?
0:03:36 > 0:03:38Wind in the Antarctic can be extremely powerful,
0:03:38 > 0:03:40sometimes with the same force as a hurricane.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42They are strong enough to pick up the ice
0:03:42 > 0:03:44on the surface as it freezes.
0:03:44 > 0:03:47This lets the cold air reach the water below that also freezes,
0:03:47 > 0:03:51forming other layers of ice underneath.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53An intense amount of sea ice is being formed,
0:03:53 > 0:03:56in part due to the freezing temperatures but also
0:03:56 > 0:03:58to these very strong winds.
0:03:58 > 0:04:02These winds have the effect of pushing away the sea ice growth.
0:04:02 > 0:04:06When we can see layer upon layer of ice lying on top of each
0:04:06 > 0:04:08other it creates a bumpy, scale-like pattern like
0:04:08 > 0:04:11the skin of a dragon.
0:04:11 > 0:04:21The scientists who spotted it this time are calling it bizarre.
0:04:22 > 0:04:23We think it is totally clawsome.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26Now this kind of thing would give anyone a fright!
0:04:26 > 0:04:27Imagine a lovely day paddle-boarding at the beach,
0:04:27 > 0:04:29when suddenly you hear this?
0:04:29 > 0:04:30Attention in the water.
0:04:30 > 0:04:33This is the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
0:04:33 > 0:04:36Be advised, State Parks is asking us to make an announcement to let
0:04:36 > 0:04:39you know that you are paddle boarding next to approximately
0:04:39 > 0:04:4115 great white sharks.
0:04:41 > 0:04:46They are advising that you exit the water in a calm manner.
0:04:46 > 0:04:52The sharks are as close as the surf line.
0:04:52 > 0:04:54Yep, I kid you not, 15 sharks were spotted swimming next
0:04:54 > 0:04:57to a group of paddle boarders in California in America.
0:04:57 > 0:05:00The sheriff's helicopter crew warned everyone to get out of the water,
0:05:00 > 0:05:02and luckily no-one was hurt.
0:05:11 > 0:05:12Urgh!
0:05:12 > 0:05:14Bleugh! Eugh!
0:05:14 > 0:05:16If you found that on the floor, you would put it down the toilet!
