:00:18. > :00:24.Afternoon. It's the 12th day of the 12th move in 2012. Special day. We

:00:24. > :00:29.take you live to the UK premiere of the Hobbit. Save the Rhine know, a

:00:29. > :00:39.new deal which could stop illegal killings. And we take a look at

:00:39. > :00:49.

:00:49. > :00:52.your Christmassy pictures. This is First, to the constantly changing

:00:52. > :00:57.face of the country. As we have been reporting on Newsround this

:00:57. > :01:00.week, the results of the national census are out and they show a big

:01:00. > :01:05.increase in the number of people born overseas who living in England

:01:05. > :01:09.and Wales. Three million more than 2001. One place that's changing

:01:09. > :01:13.fast is the capital, London, one of the most diversityies in the world.

:01:13. > :01:19.People have moved from all over the world, including many children.

:01:20. > :01:23.the first time, it's the only big region where less the half the

:01:23. > :01:27.residents describe themselves as white and British. Welcome to

:01:27. > :01:31.London. It's the most diverse place to live in the country. A place,

:01:31. > :01:35.where for the first time, less than half the people living here

:01:35. > :01:44.describe themselves as white and British. The census has revealed

:01:44. > :01:47.that one in three Londoners were born outside of the UK, like place

:01:47. > :01:51.like Poland, Pakistan and India. If you look around me in this part of

:01:51. > :01:59.town, it's even more diverse, with almost half the people who live

:01:59. > :02:04.here born outside of the UK. The buildings say it all. An India,

:02:04. > :02:09.Italian and Japanese and Turkish restaurant on this street. People

:02:09. > :02:12.come from all over the world and this means there's a big debate on

:02:12. > :02:16.all the change. How it affects our public services like hospitals and

:02:16. > :02:25.schools. All the kids in this classroom were born here in East

:02:25. > :02:30.London, yet their parents were born elsewhere. Like Bangladesh. Jamaica.

:02:30. > :02:35.Vietnam. Canada. How does the teacher cope with such a diverse

:02:35. > :02:39.class? We try very, very hard to celebrate different religions and

:02:39. > :02:42.cultures. We try to make it very much part of our whole school

:02:42. > :02:46.calendar and ask the children as much as possible to tell us about

:02:46. > :02:51.their cultures and share with us what their experiencing at home and

:02:51. > :02:55.we try to talk about it in school. What is it like for you? I think

:02:55. > :02:59.it's great and we get to learn about different cultures and how

:02:59. > :03:04.everyone lives their likes. every time you make friends we

:03:04. > :03:10.eleven about what their religion is and what they come across and how

:03:10. > :03:12.we come across. The census happens every ten years and this one has

:03:12. > :03:17.revealed just how fast the country is changing. It will be interesting

:03:17. > :03:23.to see how Britain changes over the next few decades.

:03:23. > :03:29.Next, to a new deal that has been signed between South Africa and

:03:29. > :03:34.Vietnam to stop rhino poaching. It's thought there are 25,000

:03:34. > :03:37.rhinos. Illegal killing is a big problem, with poachers selling

:03:38. > :03:45.rhino horn to countries like Vietnam. Figures show the number of

:03:45. > :03:49.rhinos killed in South Africa nearly doubled in 2012 to 6 00.

:03:49. > :03:54.Conservation groups have welcomed the deal, with the two nations

:03:55. > :03:58.working together. We are joined by the head of animal division at

:03:58. > :04:02.Knowsley Safari Park. How big a problem is this? It's a big problem

:04:02. > :04:08.for the Rhine knows, because if this continues at the rate it's

:04:08. > :04:13.going now, there could be no rhinos in 15 years in the wild. How big a

:04:13. > :04:20.deal is there? This is a big, big step. It's a good step in a good

:04:20. > :04:25.correction. There is still a lot of work to be done. The hard thing is

:04:25. > :04:28.you can't control the prochers. Do you think this will still work?

:04:29. > :04:33.That should be the next step, to target the poachers and punish them,

:04:33. > :04:37.because it's not been happening, but at least the countries have

:04:37. > :04:44.agreed that something should be done. We have also heard about the

:04:44. > :04:48.biggest-ever seizure of IRAy - 20 tonnes of it in Malaysia. Has there

:04:48. > :04:54.been a growth in this illegal activity? Yes. The main reason is

:04:54. > :05:01.it's not only used in traditional medicine, but there's a new fashion

:05:01. > :05:06.growing in Asia. Rich people like to have some profizz or memorabilia

:05:06. > :05:10.in -- trophies or memorabilia in their house like a rhino horn. It's

:05:10. > :05:13.a status symbol. Thank you very much. Next to North Korea, where

:05:13. > :05:17.world leaders have strongly criticised the Government there for

:05:17. > :05:21.launch a rocket into space. North Korea, which is one of the most

:05:21. > :05:25.secretive countries in the world, said the rocket launch was a

:05:25. > :05:28.peaceful mission, carrying a satellite. Many countries,

:05:28. > :05:32.including the United States and neighbouring South Korea, think

:05:32. > :05:36.it's part of North Korean plans to test long-range weapons. Not only

:05:36. > :05:41.is that against international law, but it has a lot of people worried.

:05:41. > :05:46.To find out more about what people are saying and why they're so

:05:46. > :05:52.concerned, check out our guide on the website.

:05:52. > :05:59.It's one of the most talked-about fill pldz of the year and tonight -

:05:59. > :06:03.- films of the year and the Hobbit fever is coming to London. People

:06:03. > :06:07.are really excited because it's been directed by Peter Jackson, who

:06:07. > :06:12.was behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We can go live to the

:06:12. > :06:17.green carpet and speak to Natalie. There's a lot of hype around this

:06:17. > :06:22.film. It's out on Friday. Will fans be satisfied? I think Hobbit fans

:06:22. > :06:27.will be satisfied if you are a really big fan of detail and if you

:06:27. > :06:31.love the fantastic world and magical characters that toll keen

:06:31. > :06:36.created, but bear in mind the book was 300 pages long add the director

:06:36. > :06:42.is making three films. The first is three hours long, so there's a lot

:06:42. > :06:48.of detail. It's taken quite a long time to get to this film. Ten years.

:06:49. > :06:51.What's the feeling from the Hobbit camp? Are they happy?

:06:51. > :06:56.Understandably they're incredibly excited. In the past ten years

:06:56. > :07:00.technology has moved on and if you could remember the original film

:07:00. > :07:07.there was so much advancement in those. For example, the character

:07:07. > :07:12.of Gollum, he was used by a compuepers -- computers. He's even

:07:12. > :07:16.better now ten years on. Also Peter Jackson has experimented with a

:07:16. > :07:23.brand new technology. You might be able to see it. Some people are not

:07:23. > :07:28.impressed. Natalie, we are really sorry for the quality of the line

:07:28. > :07:32.there. We can't hear you. It sounds like she's in New Zealand. We are

:07:32. > :07:39.really sorry about that. We'll have to try to come back to her at

:07:39. > :07:42.another time. Thanks very much to everyone who sent in pictures of

:07:42. > :07:45.their gorgeous Christmas light. They are some of our favourites.

:07:45. > :07:52.Keep them coming in. Go over to the website. All the details are there

:07:52. > :08:02.for what you need to do. Get in touch. E-mail the photographs to

:08:02. > :08:05.

:08:05. > :08:09.the website. Make sure you do an X in the pix. Tell us your name. Next,

:08:09. > :08:14.to a volcano erupting in Russia. It's been described as looking like

:08:14. > :08:23.the end of the world, which is a bit worrying. It's in the east of

:08:23. > :08:27.the country and it's pouring out 1200,000 tonnes of lava. It last

:08:27. > :08:30.erupted 36 years ago. Emergency services are keeping a watch on the

:08:30. > :08:34.area and locals are getting ready to leave if they need to.

:08:34. > :08:40.website is the place to go if you ever want to get up-to-date with

:08:40. > :08:46.stories like that. No, that's it. We are out of time on this the 12th

:08:47. > :08:50.of the 12th 2012. I've been banging on this this. Happy birthday if you

:08:50. > :08:56.are celebrating today like Madeleine from Southampton, who is
