:00:31. > :00:36.Leah and Ricky here with Friday's Newsround. Stick with us two for a
:00:36. > :00:38.smoother ride in to the weekend. We've got the low-down on the Brits
:00:38. > :00:42.2012. And find out about the robot giving
:00:42. > :00:45.Justin Bieber a run for his money. First up to the news that more than
:00:45. > :00:53.500,000 chickens in the UK are still being kept in cramped
:00:53. > :00:56.conditions, despite a recent change in the law. You might remember I
:00:56. > :00:59.reported on new rules that came in in January that made it illegal for
:00:59. > :01:03.farmers keep hens in tiny cages. It's called battery farming and was
:01:03. > :01:08.seen as a cheap way to produce eggs for supermarkets. Today it's been
:01:08. > :01:11.revealed that up to 30 farms across Britain have ignored that law. Some
:01:11. > :01:14.farmers say it's because replacing the cages can cost them thousands
:01:14. > :01:20.of pounds, money they simply can't afford. But animal rights groups
:01:20. > :01:29.are angry and say there should be no excuse. We are very surprised,
:01:29. > :01:34.really shocked, that's 30 farmers are still using these illegal cages.
:01:34. > :01:39.It was agreed 12 years ago across Europe to ban these cages and that
:01:39. > :01:43.ban came into force on the 1st January this year, so farmers have
:01:44. > :01:48.had a huge are not have time to get ready for this and quite frankly,
:01:48. > :01:51.it is a scandal that some of them have failed to do so.
:01:51. > :01:54.The government says they are disappointed that not all farms are
:01:54. > :01:57.listening to the rules and they have given farmers that have not
:01:57. > :01:59.changed their cages until the start of February now to get rid of them.
:01:59. > :02:03.We'll keep you right up to date on Newsround.
:02:03. > :02:06.It's the biggest night of the year for music fans and it always throws
:02:06. > :02:10.up a few surprises. Last year Tinie Tempah stole the show, Adele made
:02:10. > :02:14.everyone cry and it was held at the mammoth O2 Arena for the very first
:02:14. > :02:24.time. I was in London last night for you to find out who was up for
:02:24. > :02:27.
:02:27. > :02:31.It is getting quite exciting now because the nominations are
:02:31. > :02:36.starting to filter through and Ed Sheeran has four nominations,
:02:36. > :02:41.Jessie J has got three, and both of them on the red carpet. Every
:02:41. > :02:48.single award I have won so far, be taught me beforehand, so I said for
:02:48. > :02:54.the Brits, I want the surprise. I don't want to know beforehand.
:02:54. > :02:58.Sheeran is just 20. He is up for best male, best song, best album
:02:58. > :03:08.and best break through. He is mates with Rupert Grint, the Harry Potter
:03:08. > :03:08.
:03:08. > :03:13.# I am going to pick up the pieces It is scary how much like me he is.
:03:13. > :03:19.We wear the same clothes, we say the same things, we watched the
:03:20. > :03:23.same things. Are you make squares might yeah. We were going to do
:03:23. > :03:33.something at the team awards because he won Best Actor and I won
:03:33. > :03:34.
:03:34. > :03:40.best single fare we were going to switch! That could have been funny!
:03:40. > :03:47.We have got JLS! You have been nominated for best single.
:03:47. > :03:53.# She makes Me wanna #. Very excited! We will never get
:03:53. > :04:01.bored of being nominated for a Brit. It is extra special for us because
:04:01. > :04:06.we Co wrote this song. Hopefully, I here is to another Brit.
:04:06. > :04:10.Top marks for your trainers! Jessie J, joining me now on the
:04:10. > :04:16.carpet for the nominations 2012. You have been nominated for three
:04:16. > :04:21.awards. Get in. What do you think you are going to win? Nominating
:04:21. > :04:27.isn't about winning, it is about participating and knowing that your
:04:27. > :04:32.hard work has paid off. The standard of music in the UK is so
:04:32. > :04:36.high right now that whoever wins, I am going to be proud of them
:04:36. > :04:42.because they will probably be a mate. All of the nominations have
:04:42. > :04:48.been announced. The biggest showbiz event in the calendar takes place
:04:48. > :04:55.in February. We will be there and we hope you can join us.
:04:55. > :04:59.Give me some gossip. JLS told me they might do a duet with the
:04:59. > :05:04.Saturdays at the wedding. A Dell will be performing at the Brits
:05:04. > :05:10.again so we can expect even more tears -- a Dell. Jessie J said she
:05:10. > :05:16.would shave her head in a couple of months for charity. Justin Bieber
:05:16. > :05:20.was not at the Brits last night. He was busy over at a big technology
:05:20. > :05:23.show in Las Vegas. He was unveiling a new state-of-the-art portable
:05:23. > :05:32.speaker that's also a dancing robot. And he seemed pretty impressed at
:05:32. > :05:36.its funky moves. When you think of getting to school
:05:36. > :05:40.each morning, there's a few options open to you. You could take the bus,
:05:40. > :05:44.walk or even get on your bike. But this month one group of kids in
:05:44. > :05:47.Scotland will be testing out a rather different mode of transport.
:05:47. > :05:57.From Monday, it's all aboard the school boat for pupils at Plockton
:05:57. > :05:58.
:05:58. > :06:08.High. Then normal bus route has a slight obstacle: 100 tons of rock
:06:08. > :06:08.
:06:08. > :06:11.and earth that fell from a cliff onto the road. The bus would now
:06:11. > :06:15.have to do a 140 mile detour every morning and again at night. This
:06:15. > :06:18.week they've been taking the train. But there's only one of those a day,
:06:18. > :06:21.which means not arriving at school until 11 in the morning and missing
:06:21. > :06:27.loads of lessons. I have only got three subjects this year and I have
:06:27. > :06:31.actually missed two of them already, so it is a bit of pain.
:06:31. > :06:37.The road could be closed for weeks or even months so these guys might
:06:37. > :06:43.have to get used to life on the ocean way.
:06:43. > :06:47.They are not experiencing as much trouble as this guy! This truck
:06:47. > :06:51.driver lost control of his lorry on an icy road and got stuck in the
:06:51. > :07:00.middle of the frozen lake. He managed to escape through the
:07:00. > :07:07.sunroof but the truck was trapped under over two metres of ice. I bet
:07:07. > :07:10.he got an icy reception when he got back to work! Just before we go,
:07:10. > :07:12.it's Friday the 13th, one of the most superstitious days in the
:07:12. > :07:16.calendar, and we've been taking your comments on the Newsround
:07:16. > :07:19.website about the superstitions you have. Whether it's not walking
:07:19. > :07:22.under ladders, black cats crossing your path, not opening umbrellas
