:00:00. > :00:07.You're watching Newsround this Monday afternoon with me, Ricky.
:00:08. > :00:10.Plenty to get through over the next five minutes.
:00:11. > :00:14.How free messaging apps are taking over the text message.
:00:15. > :00:17.And can you tell your blue tit's tweets from your robin's'?
:00:18. > :00:26.This is Newsround. First, we're talking about healthy
:00:27. > :00:31.eating and how we know what's good for us and what isn't. We all know
:00:32. > :00:35.that too many chocolates, fizzy drinks or crisps are a bad idea. But
:00:36. > :00:39.what about things like fruit juice? It comes from fruit and sounds
:00:40. > :00:42.healthy, but now a top health advisor is saying we should avoid it
:00:43. > :00:45.because many fruit juices contain unhealthy amounts of sugar. It's all
:00:46. > :00:48.very confusing. Leah has been looking into it.
:00:49. > :00:52.Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, health experts agree we
:00:53. > :00:58.should all be eating plenty of fruit and veg like this, to help keep us
:00:59. > :01:02.healthy. For the last ten years, the government's been telling us to eat
:01:03. > :01:05.five pieces of fruit and veg a day, but there is a debate about what
:01:06. > :01:09.should count towards that total. Almost all fruit and veg, like
:01:10. > :01:12.apples and carrots, are included. But now there are big question marks
:01:13. > :01:16.over whether drinking fruit juice should count. Dr Susan Jebb is a
:01:17. > :01:20.health advisor to the government, and she wants drinks like orange and
:01:21. > :01:24.apple juice to be taken out of the five-a-day guidance. That's because
:01:25. > :01:28.she says they contain as much sugar as other sugary drinks like Cola.
:01:29. > :01:33.Juice also contains less fibre than the actual fruit, and fibre is very
:01:34. > :01:42.important to help digestion. So instead of this, Dr Jebb recommends
:01:43. > :01:44.we have a piece of the real thing. Thanks, Leah. Well, I'm joined by
:01:45. > :01:48.Charlotte Evans. You're a nutritionist, so it's your job to
:01:49. > :01:54.know what's good for us and what isn't. Is drinking juice bad for us?
:01:55. > :01:58.Well, it's certainly not as good for us as fruit and vegetables, because
:01:59. > :02:04.then you get all the fibre and all the nutrients. There's just
:02:05. > :02:10.something about sugar in drinks that is bad for us. We can't tell the
:02:11. > :02:16.difference between a soft rink or fruit juice when it comes to the
:02:17. > :02:22.sugar in drinks. It all sounds quite confusing. Do we actually know what
:02:23. > :02:27.is good for us? There's been a lot about sugar recently. Really, the
:02:28. > :02:32.sugar in food isn't as bad. We eat more job because they are flavoured
:02:33. > :02:37.with Serie A -- flavoured with sugar, and breakfast cereals. So if
:02:38. > :02:43.you are only looking at one thing, look at your drinks. And more
:02:44. > :02:48.water? What about labelling. Should it be clearer what is in these
:02:49. > :02:52.juices? Yes, but it takes a lot of time, looking at these labels. I
:02:53. > :02:56.think the food industry should make it easier for us to make the right
:02:57. > :03:00.choice. Thank you for coming in. Some tech news now, and the number
:03:01. > :03:03.of SMS text messages sent in Britain fell for the first time last year.
:03:04. > :03:06.More people are using instant messaging apps like Snapchat.
:03:07. > :03:09.Research carried out by Deloitte - a group that monitors the latest
:03:10. > :03:12.trends - suggests we sent 160 billion instant messages in 2013,
:03:13. > :03:16.compared to 145 billion old-school texts. They reckon messaging apps,
:03:17. > :03:20.which are usually free, will carry more than twice the number of
:03:21. > :03:28.messages sent by text this year. Head to the website to let us know
:03:29. > :03:31.how you message. Let's get some entertainment news.
:03:32. > :03:35.Some of the biggest stars on the planet, including Taylor Swift,
:03:36. > :03:38.flocked to the red carpet in LA last night for the Golden Globes. The
:03:39. > :03:41.ceremony didn't get off to the best of starts, though. Just hours
:03:42. > :03:45.before, a water leak flooded the red carpet, and staff had to mop up the
:03:46. > :03:48.puddle. Once that was sorted, Disney's Frozen won the best
:03:49. > :03:52.animation, beating Despicable Me 2. 3D space thriller Gravity won best
:03:53. > :03:58.director! Next, can you guess which bird is
:03:59. > :04:03.making this sound? BIRD TWEETS.
:04:04. > :04:05.Well, that was the robin. What about this?
:04:06. > :04:13.BIRD TWEETS. That was the blue tit. And this?
:04:14. > :04:17.BIRD COOS. That was the wood pigeon. Don't
:04:18. > :04:20.worry if you didn't guess them - you're not alone. BBC Gardeners
:04:21. > :04:23.World asked 1,649 people to identify five different types of garden birds
:04:24. > :04:27.by their song. Only 11% of them could identify the call of a blue
:04:28. > :04:33.tit, 25% managed to recognise a robin's song, and 30% correctly
:04:34. > :04:37.guessed the song of a house sparrow. Blackbird song was recognised by
:04:38. > :04:43.less than a third. The only bird whose song was identified by more
:04:44. > :04:47.than half was the wood pigeon. And our website is the place to be
:04:48. > :04:54.if you want to find out even more about birdsong. While you're there,
:04:55. > :05:00.take the quiz to see how good you are!
:05:01. > :05:02.That's all from me. Newsround's back right here at 6:50pm.
