:00:53. > :00:56.that the high tide here has passed without event.

:00:57. > :01:00.Tidal surges are caused by a mixture of high wind and

:01:01. > :01:04.high tides, but we are not out of the woods yet because we are told

:01:05. > :01:08.there is another high tide this evening and that could more severe.

:01:09. > :01:12.So there are still flood warnings in place along the east coast, which

:01:13. > :01:19.Council workers are on standby, the police.

:01:20. > :01:21.In Lincolnshire, the army was called in to help evacuate people.

:01:22. > :01:23.More than 3000 residents were told to

:01:24. > :01:26.leave their homes or to move upstairs, and special rest centres

:01:27. > :01:35.And the wintry weather is affecting lots of other parts of the country

:01:36. > :01:37.too with heavy snowfall closing some schools and causing

:01:38. > :01:41.But for some it's been pretty exciting.

:02:31. > :02:34.class from Bedford prep school were excited to watch the first snowfall

:02:35. > :02:38.of the year from their classroom. And building a snowman was top of

:02:39. > :02:44.the list of playtime activities for spring side primary in North

:02:45. > :02:49.Ayrshire. This nine-year-old had a snowy view from her window. And in

:02:50. > :02:53.Glasgow, the playground was covered in snow and the kids say they just

:02:54. > :02:58.want to keep singing, do you want to build a snowman? Rate voice!

:02:59. > :03:00.Now staying with the snow, seeing an elephant in it isn't

:03:01. > :03:05.But at Oregon Zoo in the US, all the animals there are having

:03:06. > :03:10.In fact, so much snow has fallen in the last few days that the zoo

:03:11. > :03:14.But that hasn't stopped this polar bear and these seals

:03:15. > :03:17.Now how's this for a bit of extreme DIY?

:03:18. > :03:20.Right now French astronaut Thomas Pesquet and American

:03:21. > :03:23.astronaut Shane Kimbrough are on a space walk.

:03:24. > :03:24.They're working on upgrading the power systems on the

:03:25. > :03:29.They'll spend about six and a half hours fixing new batteries,

:03:30. > :03:35.the size of fridges, to the side of the ISS.

:03:36. > :03:42.Some people in Gwaun Valley in Wales go by a different calendar.

:03:43. > :03:46.For them, New Year's Day, or Hen Galan, is today.

:03:47. > :03:58.A group of school kids there told us how they'll be celebrating.
