:00:08. > :00:10.Coming up: Find out how Mo's getting on in the marathon.

:00:11. > :00:18.And we countdown the strangest stories of the week. This is

:00:19. > :00:22.Newsround. First up, Mo Farah has missed out on

:00:23. > :00:25.his bid to win the London Marathon after finishing eigth on his debut.

:00:26. > :00:34.The double Olympic champion finished the 26.2 mile course in 2:08.21,

:00:35. > :00:37.missing out on the British record. World record holder Wilson Kipsang

:00:38. > :00:42.won the race - his second title in London. He was glad to have

:00:43. > :00:52.completed his first marathon in the city he grew up in. I gave it a go,

:00:53. > :00:58.and that is all I could do. I'm disappointed I didn't go out there

:00:59. > :01:07.and give a bit more, and the people supported me all the way. The field

:01:08. > :01:12.was tough. I have gone straight for the personal best, but that is what

:01:13. > :01:15.athletics is about. 36,000 fun runners are taking part

:01:16. > :01:18.in the marathon and by the time the last person crosses the line a

:01:19. > :01:21.staggering 750-thousand water bottles would have been handed out.

:01:22. > :01:33.It's the biggest road race in the world and here's why. -- 750,000. On

:01:34. > :01:36.your marks, get set, Mo. The 34th annual London Marathon is well and

:01:37. > :01:39.truly under way. But the double Olympic champion wasn't the only one

:01:40. > :01:43.the crowds have come to see, because in total 36,000 people are taking

:01:44. > :01:47.part. Some are in fancy dress, while others will just be glad to finish.

:01:48. > :01:51.And for most of them - it's all in the name of charity. Last year a

:01:52. > :01:53.staggering ?53 million was raised. There's also some familiar faces as

:01:54. > :01:56.well - including ex-England footballer Michael Owen, TV

:01:57. > :02:03.presenter Helen Skelton and rugby player Lewis Moody. And this is what

:02:04. > :02:06.they have to face - 26.2 miles, passing some of London's biggest

:02:07. > :02:12.landmarks, including the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace.

:02:13. > :02:16.Some runners will be pounding the streets until late afternoon. But

:02:17. > :02:23.when they finish they can proudly say they completed the biggest road

:02:24. > :02:26.race in the world. All day you've been sending in your

:02:27. > :02:30.marathon messages. Casey says my oldest brother Mitch is taking part,

:02:31. > :02:34.so I'd like to say. Hope you do well and I believe in you. Scarlett's

:02:35. > :02:38.message is good luck to everyone who is taking part, and if you don't

:02:39. > :02:42.come first, just remember your doing it for a good cause. And Khadija is

:02:43. > :02:47.going along to the race to support her brother. Head over to the

:02:48. > :02:54.Newsround website to see more of your messages of support.

:02:55. > :02:57.Next to Chile in South America, where thousands of people have been

:02:58. > :03:01.forced to leave their homes because of a large forest fire. More than

:03:02. > :03:05.150 homes in Valparaiso, a city that is next to the Pacific Ocean, have

:03:06. > :03:16.caught on fire after strong winds coming in off the sea blew the fire

:03:17. > :03:19.in the cities direction. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

:03:20. > :03:23.have taken to the water in New Zealand today for a high-speed boat

:03:24. > :03:26.ride and have also been involved in a junior rugby match, and it was

:03:27. > :03:30.Prince William's team that were the winners. The sporty day is part of

:03:31. > :03:33.their three week royal tour of New Zealand and Australia.

:03:34. > :03:37.The early kick-off in the Premier League sees leaders Liverpool taking

:03:38. > :03:49.on Manchester City. Look away now if you don't want to know the score. It

:03:50. > :03:56.is currently 1-0 to Liverpool. Liverpool's manager was focused on

:03:57. > :04:00.the game. It should be a fantastic game of football. For us, our focus

:04:01. > :04:04.is on three points because at the end of the day that is what comes

:04:05. > :04:07.out of the game. You gain confidence and belief, but the three points is

:04:08. > :04:11.what we are after. There are five games to go. Even after this one

:04:12. > :04:15.there are 12 points to play for, so we are looking forward to this. It

:04:16. > :04:18.should be a fantastic game. Golf and the 20-year-old American

:04:19. > :04:21.Jordan Speith is bidding to become the youngest ever winner of the

:04:22. > :04:24.Masters in Augusta. It's his first Major Championship and he shares

:04:25. > :04:36.first place with Bubba Watson ahead of today's final round. Finally,

:04:37. > :04:40.every Friday on the Newsround website we count down the top three

:04:41. > :04:44.weirdest news stories of the week - Martin's been on the hunt for us to

:04:45. > :04:47.find worlds strangest story - take it away Martin.

:04:48. > :04:50.Strange. It is not something I would like to share my tube journey with,

:04:51. > :04:54.so I can see why these passengers wanted to get out of the way. This

:04:55. > :04:57.rat caused chaos on a New York subway train when it boarded a

:04:58. > :04:57.carriage filled with passengers during rush-hour.

:04:58. > :05:00.wanted to get out of the way. This Rats aren't that rare in the city,

:05:01. > :05:04.still I wouldn't want round my feet. Rats aren't that rare in the city,

:05:05. > :05:07.still Stranger. Now, you might be mistaken and think this priest in

:05:08. > :05:10.Ireland is auditioning for The Voice, but this burst into song was

:05:11. > :05:22.actually a wedding day surprise for the bride and groom. Father Ray

:05:23. > :05:24.Kelly from Oldcastle, Co Meath, started singing his pitch-perfect

:05:25. > :05:31.version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. The lyrics were change

:05:32. > :05:38.especially for the newlyweds, I wonder if he will do a Newsround

:05:39. > :05:42.version. Strangest. Last, but not least, it might not look like much,

:05:43. > :05:47.but this cup has just been sold for ?22 million. The tiny porcelain

:05:48. > :05:53.rarity is over 500 years old and sold at an auction in Hong Kong.

:05:54. > :05:56.Let's hope no one drops it. That's all from me, Newsround's back

:05:57. > :05:57.right here just before 2pm.
