0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hi, I'm Ricky, live on CBBC.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08Coming up on Newsround:

0:00:08 > 0:00:13There's big dino news from over 200 million years ago.

0:00:13 > 0:00:17We say happy 200th birthday to rollercoasters.

0:00:17 > 0:00:24And how dragons and vampires are helping humans.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32First up, football, and Leicester City still have a chance

0:00:32 > 0:00:35to get to the next stage of the Champions League

0:00:35 > 0:00:38despite a 1-0 defeat in Spain to Atletico Madrid.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41The only goal came after a controversial penalty

0:00:41 > 0:00:45when Marc Albrighton's foul looked to be outside the box.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Well, we spoke to some Leicester fans to find out

0:00:47 > 0:00:50what they made of it.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51I think they did all right.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53It's just, the ref shouldn't have gave

0:00:53 > 0:00:54that penalty.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56It should have been a free kick outside the box.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58When I saw it, and the referee pointed out

0:00:58 > 0:01:01the spot, I was like, what, that's not a penalty,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03that's a free kick!

0:01:03 > 0:01:05It cost Leicester the game, which they could have won.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06It shouldn't have been a penalty.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08I was really mad about that.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10I'm sad cos Leicester lost.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12They did have a couple good chances, but just

0:01:12 > 0:01:13couldn't put them away.

0:01:13 > 0:01:151-0 is pretty all right, because they're doing

0:01:15 > 0:01:21pretty well in the Champions League.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Next, ever wondered who'd win in a fight -

0:01:23 > 0:01:24dinosaur or crocodile?

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Well, you don't have to choose, because researchers have discovered

0:01:27 > 0:01:31the fossil of a creature that was a bit of both.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33There aren't many animals older than a dinosaur, right?

0:01:33 > 0:01:37They lived 230 million years ago!

0:01:37 > 0:01:38Well, think again.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Crocodile-like creatures were around way before that,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44over 300 million years ago.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Now, researchers think they've found out

0:01:46 > 0:01:49how the crocodiles first evolved into dinosaurs - by studying

0:01:49 > 0:01:53a fossil of a creature called a teleocrater.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56In many ways, this animal is a missing link between

0:01:56 > 0:01:57dinosaurs and crocodiles,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00and shows how some of the features that previously just

0:02:00 > 0:02:03appeared in dinosaurs actually first evolved.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07For example, dinosaurs start off as two-legged animals,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10whereas most of their ancestors seem to be four-legged.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13This animal shows how the transition between a four-legged

0:02:13 > 0:02:18crocodile-like animal and the two-legged dinosaur happened.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21Studying the teleocrater bones also showed researchers that some

0:02:21 > 0:02:25dinosaur features evolved much earlier than they'd first thought.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29All hail the croco-saur!

0:02:29 > 0:02:32If you love roller coasters, then this one is for you.

0:02:32 > 0:02:37Because today marks 200 years since the first one was built.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40It opened in Paris in France in 1817 and wasn't much more

0:02:40 > 0:02:43than a rickety wooden cart on a track.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46Things have changed a bit since then with modern coasters - bigger,

0:02:46 > 0:02:52faster and much more exciting.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55But I think I'll stick to the teacups.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57We're inspired by animals for all sorts of things,

0:02:57 > 0:02:58like robots, transport, and even our clothes!

0:02:58 > 0:03:01But did you know some of them are helping us

0:03:01 > 0:03:02to invent cures for diseases?

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Dragons and vampires may be pretty scary,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07but did you know they're actually helping humans?

0:03:07 > 0:03:11So, OK, we're not talking about this kind of dragon.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13We mean Komodo dragons!

0:03:13 > 0:03:17These fearsome reptiles have around 80 different types of bacteria

0:03:17 > 0:03:20living in their spit, but for some reason,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22they don't get sick from it.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25So scientists think they must have really good immune systems,

0:03:25 > 0:03:30to help them fight disease.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33A group of scientists in America investigated the dragon's blood.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35They found that it actually helped to fight infections

0:03:35 > 0:03:38and speed up healing time.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Amazing!

0:03:40 > 0:03:42But it's not just Komodo dragons who've been helping us.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Some jellyfish have special chemicals in them

0:03:44 > 0:03:46which make them glow.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49Doctors have made dye inspired by the jellyfish to help them find

0:03:49 > 0:03:51tumours in the body.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55As for vampires, well, it's not quite what you might be thinking.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57No, not these blood suckers,

0:03:57 > 0:04:00but vampire bats.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04Their spit contains something which thins blood to help them feed.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Scientists have used this to develop medicine to help stop

0:04:07 > 0:04:12dangerous blood clots in humans.

0:04:12 > 0:04:14Talking of helpful animals, meet Parrow.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17He's a robotic seal who was created to help older people

0:04:17 > 0:04:20living in care homes in Japan.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23He looks and feels like the real thing, and is covered in sensors

0:04:23 > 0:04:26that means he can respond when he's touched or spoken to.

0:04:26 > 0:04:31The residents seem to like him.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34Finally, police officers were given the runaround in London yesterday.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36A pig caused chaos when it escaped and trotted

0:04:36 > 0:04:39through lunch-time traffic.

0:04:39 > 0:04:40A jogger had to dodge the animal,

0:04:40 > 0:04:43who seemed to take a liking to his outfit!

0:04:43 > 0:04:48The pig was eventually caught and returned to its owner.

0:04:48 > 0:04:49That's all from me.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Newsround's back in the morning with loads more top stories.
