:00:35. > :00:37.as British astronaut Tim Peake prepares to do his first
:00:38. > :00:40.He'll be helping to restore power to one part of the station.
:00:41. > :00:48.At around 12:55 tomorrow afternoon, you might be finishing your lunch,
:00:49. > :00:51.but somewhere up in space Tim Peake will be about to take
:00:52. > :00:57.He will be setting foot outside the International Space Station
:00:58. > :01:04.It is a huge moment for any astronaut.
:01:05. > :01:06.Spacewalks are the most exciting and challenging thing
:01:07. > :01:11.It is probably the hardest thing that we do, as human beings,
:01:12. > :01:14.it is certainly the most hostile environment you can imagine.
:01:15. > :01:18.For the next 6.5 hours, Tim will be out in space,
:01:19. > :01:23.tasked with repairing a broken power unit on the outside of the station.
:01:24. > :01:26.He will be with fellow astronaut Tim Kopra and their every move
:01:27. > :01:28.is guided by a team back here on Earth.
:01:29. > :01:31.Everything down to the order in which tools and equipment
:01:32. > :01:35.are attached to their spacesuits has been carefully planned in advance.
:01:36. > :01:38.A whole 6.5 hours, we have planned in meticulous detail.
:01:39. > :01:42.Myself and Tim Kopra have run through the procedures and we have
:01:43. > :01:48.used computer simulations to see exactly where we are going to be
:01:49. > :01:49.going and what we are going to be doing.
:01:50. > :01:52.I think it is going to be the most exhilarating feeling imaginable.
:01:53. > :01:55.After repairing the power unit, Tim's next job will be to connect
:01:56. > :01:57.a brand-new cable measuring 28 metres.
:01:58. > :02:00.And all the time, Earth will be whizzing by below them.
:02:01. > :02:02.In fact, the ISS orbits Earth every 90 minutes,
:02:03. > :02:05.so the astronauts will be doing all this in a cycle of 45 minutes
:02:06. > :02:07.of daylight and 45 minutes of complete darkness.
:02:08. > :02:13.Out of the corner of your eye you are seeing your whole planet
:02:14. > :02:19.rotating beneath you, so how do you stop yourself being distracted?
:02:20. > :02:21.Because you have the whole universe to look at,
:02:22. > :02:24.but you have actually got to undo some screws and not drop them.
:02:25. > :02:31.It is another exciting part of Tim's mission in space.

:04:29. > :04:31.to be nervous before you perform. When you have adrenaline, it is good

:04:38. > :04:41.excited and scared. That takes a long time to be able to do that. But
:04:42. > :04:43.I have been doing this for a long time so I am getting better at using
:04:44. > :04:46.that adrenaline as an exciting thing.
