:00:11. > :00:17.Hi I'm Leah and this is Newsround. On the way: Some shocking news

:00:17. > :00:20.about one of the world's most famous sportsmen, and are your PE

:00:20. > :00:23.lessons too easy? But first to some truly shocking

:00:23. > :00:26.news about one of the world's most famous runners. Top athletes and

:00:26. > :00:29.many others around the world have been reacting to the terrible news

:00:29. > :00:32.that Paralympic superstar Oscar Pistorias, known as the Blade

:00:32. > :00:37.Runner because of the two blades he uses as artificial legs, has been

:00:37. > :00:41.arrested and is facing a murder charge. His girlfriend was sadly

:00:41. > :00:44.found dead at his home in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, this

:00:44. > :00:48.morning. The news has shaken the country, where he's a national hero,

:00:48. > :00:54.and the world. Pistorias is due to appear in court tomorrow morning to

:00:54. > :00:57.face the charges. Next, the world's biggest

:00:57. > :01:00.experiment is switching off and taking a break for two years. The

:01:00. > :01:03.Large Hadron Collider is housed inside a 16 mile-long tunnel on the

:01:03. > :01:07.border between France and Switzerland. The giant machine is

:01:07. > :01:09.closing, as it needs repairs and upgrades so it can run faster. For

:01:09. > :01:19.three years, it's been smashing tiny particles together to try to

:01:19. > :01:22.

:01:22. > :01:27.work out how the universe began. The Large Hadron Collider, it is a

:01:27. > :01:30.27-kilometre-long tunnel under the French-Swiss border and in it sub-

:01:30. > :01:34.atomic particles are accelerated to huge speeds and then smashed

:01:34. > :01:39.together. The idea is that after the collision scientists will be

:01:39. > :01:44.able to discover what made up the particles, the even smaller bits

:01:44. > :01:46.and from that deduce how the universe began and want is it

:01:46. > :01:49.really made of? Next - it's called physical

:01:49. > :01:51.education, but just how physical are your PE lessons? Well, the

:01:51. > :01:54.Government's school inspectors have criticised school sport sessions in

:01:54. > :01:58.England for not pushing you hard enough. They reckon that more of

:01:58. > :02:01.you need to work up a sweat in the classes in order to stay healthy.

:02:01. > :02:04.On the website, Sarah in London told us her PE teacher pushes her

:02:04. > :02:07.to the limit, but Max in Bristol says last week he just waved his

:02:07. > :02:17.hands about to music. Ricky's been finding out whether your PE lessons

:02:17. > :02:29.

:02:29. > :02:39.Let's do this. This primary school in Greater Manchester gets top

:02:39. > :02:39.

:02:39. > :02:47.marks when it comes to PE. Do you feel like your heartbeat is

:02:47. > :02:53.pounding away? It is like a volcano in my tummy. How would you describe

:02:53. > :02:59.your heart? It is really good. new report says more than a quarter

:02:59. > :03:04.of our PE lessons don't include enough physical activities, so they

:03:04. > :03:08.don't improve the health of our kids. They say that teachers spend

:03:08. > :03:11.too much time talking and many schools don't play sport

:03:11. > :03:17.competitively. We've got great facilities, we've got the funding

:03:17. > :03:20.so we can buy the equipment we need. The literacy and numeracy and

:03:21. > :03:24.academic achievement, we need to remember that PE and physical

:03:24. > :03:28.activity is massively important. However, there is some praise for

:03:28. > :03:34.PE. Most schools provide at least two hours of physical education

:03:34. > :03:37.each week for pupils aged 5 to 14 and only a fifth of you leave

:03:37. > :03:44.primary school without being able to swim. We've had loads of

:03:44. > :03:50.comments from you telling us what you think. This one says, "My PE

:03:50. > :03:55.lessons are really hard and my teacher really pushes people." The

:03:55. > :03:59.Government says it wants to spend 1 billion on new sports over the

:03:59. > :04:02.next five years and it is currently writing a new PE curriculum hoping

:04:02. > :04:06.to put competition at the heart of school sports.

:04:06. > :04:09.A bit of showbiz news for you - Lady Gaga has cancelled the rest of

:04:09. > :04:12.her world tour after finding out she needs to go to hospital for

:04:12. > :04:15.surgery. Watch out for the flashes in this one. Yesterday, said she

:04:15. > :04:18.was delaying shows in America and Canada because of a hip injury, but

:04:18. > :04:25.now the remaining 21 shows of her tour have been cancelled. On

:04:25. > :04:27.Tuesday, Gaga tweeted that she's been in pain for some time.

:04:28. > :04:36.Manchester City fans will soon have some familiar voices guiding them

:04:36. > :04:43.on their way to the Etihad Stadium. This is Roberto Mancini from

:04:43. > :04:49.Manchester City. This is a Droylsden service. The next stop is

:04:49. > :04:52.the campus. Announcements on a new tram service to City's stadium will

:04:52. > :04:54.come from manager Roberto Mancini and players such as Vincent Kompany
