:00:00. > :00:12.Morning. Leah here with Friday morning's top stories. Coming up: Go

:00:13. > :00:17.Team Yarnold. GB skeleton racer goes for Gold.

:00:18. > :00:25.And why this baby alligator took a trip to France.

:00:26. > :00:28.This is Newsround. First up, most of us had a calmer

:00:29. > :00:32.night but another band of stormy weather is already on its way, with

:00:33. > :00:36.rain and high winds hitting the South West of England this morning.

:00:37. > :00:39.17 severe flood warnings are in place across the UK and engineers

:00:40. > :00:43.are still working to restore power to some of the thousands of homes

:00:44. > :00:51.that were cut off on Wednesday. Ayshah been in Chertsey in Surrey

:00:52. > :00:57.this morning. I in Chertsey near the River Thames. The River Thames is

:00:58. > :01:02.still gushing with loads of water. Places are still flooding as the

:01:03. > :01:06.water is not going anywhere. I am here by a flood defence which was

:01:07. > :01:10.built yesterday by the Environment Agency. This is Alison from that

:01:11. > :01:15.organisation. Can you tell me what this is here for? Where may have

:01:16. > :01:21.flooding to the extent we have now, we use a lot of temporary defences

:01:22. > :01:26.which can be sandbags, barriers or a watered'down. This is laid along the

:01:27. > :01:30.road because it needs a flat surface to provide temporary protection to

:01:31. > :01:35.the properties this side of it. The properties on the other side we are

:01:36. > :01:37.supplying sandbags and temporary defences and supporting those people

:01:38. > :01:41.to protect all the properties we can. Whatever we put here will not

:01:42. > :01:45.make anything worse but we are trying to do what we can for each

:01:46. > :01:50.property. Thank you. More rain is expected today and people will have

:01:51. > :01:53.a nervous wait. Thanks, Aysha. The bad weather is affecting you guys

:01:54. > :01:57.all over the UK and you've been getting in touch with your stories.

:01:58. > :02:06.Ellie, Jake, Chloe and Max sent us this report.

:02:07. > :02:11.Hello, I am Chloe. I am Jake. I am Chloe. I am Max. This is our story

:02:12. > :02:22.of the floods. This is my usual route to school. It no longer

:02:23. > :02:30.exists. We used to have this car park by my house. Now it is a

:02:31. > :02:34.swimming pool. We used to spend all of our free time at the park but as

:02:35. > :02:41.you can see there is no chance of that soon. Many people have been

:02:42. > :02:48.evacuated from their homes due to the high volume of water caused by

:02:49. > :02:52.the flooding, including us. Jack in Bath has contacted us because his

:02:53. > :02:56.back garden is flooded. And Matthew in Rhyl got soaked and his next door

:02:57. > :03:00.neighbour's ariel fell down! Thanks for the video report guys and

:03:01. > :03:04.all your comments. If you've been affected by the floods, we want to

:03:05. > :03:08.hear from you. Grab your mobile and if it's safe to do so, send us a

:03:09. > :03:12.short clip or take some snaps of what's happening in your area. You

:03:13. > :03:21.can also leave us your flood and bad weather stories over on the

:03:22. > :03:25.Newsround website. Thousands of people have had to

:03:26. > :03:29.leave their homes in Indonesia. The volcano chucked ash and sand more

:03:30. > :03:31.than 100 miles away. Some towns have been turned completely grey after

:03:32. > :03:34.getting covered in several centimetres of ash. Three major

:03:35. > :03:37.airports have also been closed because of low visibility and fears

:03:38. > :03:41.the ash could damage plane engines. Exciting news for Harry Potter fans.

:03:42. > :03:44.JK Rowling says she's finished the draft script for her spin off movie!

:03:45. > :03:47.The author revealed in a magazine interview that she wrote Fantastic

:03:48. > :03:51.Beasts And Where to Find Them in just 12 days. The story's based on

:03:52. > :03:55.the text book Harry Potter uses in Hogwarts. There's no news yet on

:03:56. > :03:57.when the movie will start being made.

:03:58. > :04:00.Over at Sochi and Lizzy Yarnold could become Britian's first Gold

:04:01. > :04:04.medallist at the Winter Olympics today. She only took up the sport in

:04:05. > :04:07.2010 but dominated the first two runs of the skeleton competition and

:04:08. > :04:11.leads at the half way point by almost half a second. Her

:04:12. > :04:14.competition starts at 4pm. Before that at 12.30pm, qualifying starts

:04:15. > :04:23.for the Men's Skeleton, while at 10am, the British women's curling

:04:24. > :04:26.team face Japan. Tennis news and Britain's Andy

:04:27. > :04:29.Murray is through to the quarter finals of the ABN World Tennis

:04:30. > :04:32.Tournament in Rotterdam after beating the Dominic Team 6-4, 3-6,

:04:33. > :04:35.6-3. The Wimbledon champion is looking to repeat his 2009 success

:04:36. > :04:41.in the tournament when he beat Rafael Nadal in the final. And two

:04:42. > :04:44.baby albino alligators have been flown thousands of miles from

:04:45. > :04:46.Florida to their new home at a Paris Aquarium.

:04:47. > :04:50.Albino alligators are so rare there are only around 30 of them left in

:04:51. > :04:53.the world. They don't usually survive in the wild because their

:04:54. > :04:59.light skin would mark them out to predators in their dark habitat.

:05:00. > :05:01.That is all from me. Jenny is here at 4pm. Have a great day.
