0:00:14 > 0:00:22Morning, guys, it's Newsround, it's Wednesday and I'm Ricky!

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Let's get straight to South Korea and the Winter Olympics, where today

0:00:29 > 0:00:31is all about curling, which is a bit like

0:00:31 > 0:00:32bowls but on ice!

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Team GB's women have just won their first match

0:00:34 > 0:00:37at the Olympics after they thrashed the team of Russian athletes 10-3.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39They won bronze last time out.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Team GB's men - who took silver in 2014 -

0:00:41 > 0:00:43played earlier and beat Switzerland in a very exciting match.

0:00:43 > 0:00:47They'll play defending champions Canada at 11 o'clock.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50And meet the "Flying Tomato", otherwise known as Shaun White.

0:00:50 > 0:00:54The American has become a three-time Olympic champion after producing

0:00:54 > 0:00:58some outstanding twists and turns and huge air, to take gold

0:00:58 > 0:01:04in the halfpipe final.

0:01:08 > 0:01:13In the capital and tomato isn't the only snowboarder making headlines.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17The sport is producing some of the youngest names to rule the Winter

0:01:17 > 0:01:24Olympics. Take a look. Maybe 17-year-old American sports

0:01:24 > 0:01:30stars everyone is talking about. First up is California girl Chloe

0:01:30 > 0:01:34Kim. Her mum and dad were born and raised in South Korea before they

0:01:34 > 0:01:39moved to the States, so where better for Chloe to win her first Olympic

0:01:39 > 0:01:44gold than in her parents' home country? She was amazing in the

0:01:44 > 0:01:48women's halfpipe snowboarding final. On her first run, she was already in

0:01:48 > 0:01:53gold place position, but by her third, she was ahead of her

0:01:53 > 0:01:56competitors by 8.5 points. Pretty fantastic for a 17-year-old who has

0:01:56 > 0:02:00been tweeting more about wanting to eat ice cream than when Olympic

0:02:00 > 0:02:05golds!

0:02:06 > 0:02:11golds! Next up, Red Gerard. He's 17, from America, and happens

0:02:11 > 0:02:15to be amazing at slopestyle. But it nearly went wrong. He overslept on

0:02:15 > 0:02:19the morning of his final, missing his 6am wake-up call! But the extra

0:02:19 > 0:02:2520 minutes obviously did him good. He went on to win. Not only did he

0:02:25 > 0:02:29claim America's first goal that the Winter Olympics, but he has made

0:02:29 > 0:02:33history as the first talent youngest American man to win gold since 1928.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37In these two winning teenagers could be the tip of the iceberg.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42Keep your eyes peeled for more teen superstars ruling in the snow in

0:02:42 > 0:02:45South Korea. Nice one, guys!

0:02:45 > 0:02:48And finally, it's the most loved up day of the year for some...

0:02:48 > 0:02:49Happy Valentine's Day!

0:02:49 > 0:02:52But where did it come from and why did it start?

0:02:52 > 0:02:58It's time for the Big Question.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04You caught me writing my Valentine's Day card! That's terribly convenient

0:03:04 > 0:03:12when we take a look at this week's Big Question.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Who invented Valentine's Day and why?

0:03:16 > 0:03:21What a lovely big question. See what I did there? Sorry!

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Well, Valentine's Day actually gets its name from a famous Saint Bald

0:03:28 > 0:03:33Valentine. But there are a lots of different stories about who he was.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37The popular belief is that he was a priest from Rome in the third

0:03:37 > 0:03:43century A:D.. Emperor Claudius the second had banned marriage because

0:03:43 > 0:03:49he thought married men were bad soldiers. Valentine thought that

0:03:49 > 0:03:54this was wrong, so he broke the rules and arranged marriages in

0:03:54 > 0:03:58secret. When the Emperor found out, he was furious! He threw Valentine

0:03:58 > 0:04:03in jail! He sentenced him to death.

0:04:07 > 0:04:11But Valentine fell in love with a jailer's daughter, when he was taken

0:04:11 > 0:04:18to be killed, he sent her a love letter signed, from your Valentine.

0:04:18 > 0:04:23But why in February, you ask? Well, there used to be a Roman festival in

0:04:23 > 0:04:28the middle of February to mark the start of spring. As part of the

0:04:28 > 0:04:34celebrations, boys drew names of girls from a box. They would be

0:04:34 > 0:04:36boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival, and sometimes, they would

0:04:36 > 0:04:42get married. This developed into a festival in the middle of February

0:04:42 > 0:04:47to remember Saint Valentine too, and Valentine's Day was born! A day to

0:04:47 > 0:04:50express feelings to those you love.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53That's it from me.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56We're back at 0820 with a pig who can paint -

0:04:56 > 0:04:57yep, you heard me right.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Goodbye.
