0:00:34 > 0:00:39Professor Stephen Hawking, has died at the age of 76.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43I've been looking back at his incredible life.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Stephen Hawking was passionate about science and the sky -

0:00:45 > 0:00:48even as a child.

0:00:48 > 0:00:52He went on to become one of the most famous scientists of all time,

0:00:52 > 0:00:56after studying physics at Oxford University.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00When he was 21, he was told he had motor neurone disease.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03It meant he had to use a wheelchair and had to talk

0:01:03 > 0:01:06through a special computer.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10But he lived for 50 years longer than doctors expected and went

0:01:10 > 0:01:14on to develop amazing theories that changed the way the world thinks

0:01:14 > 0:01:19about space, stars and the universe.

0:01:19 > 0:01:26I do not have much positive to say about motor neurone disease, but it

0:01:26 > 0:01:30taught me not to pity myself and to get on with what I can still do.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33I am happier now than before I developed the condition.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36His most famous book, A Brief History of Time, sold more

0:01:36 > 0:01:42than 10 million copies around the world.

0:01:42 > 0:01:48A film was made about his life in 2014, and the actor

0:01:48 > 0:01:52who played him, Eddie Redmayne, won an Oscar for his performance.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Professor Hawking even appeared in The Simpsons.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57His family say he was a great scientist who was brilliant,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00very funny and inspired people across the world.

0:02:00 > 0:02:06He was 76.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Russia has failed to explain if they had anything to do

0:02:08 > 0:02:12with the poisoning of a spy in the UK.

0:02:12 > 0:02:16Theresa May had given them a deadline of midnight last night.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18It's not yet known exactly what the UK will do next.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It's thought they'd been poisoned deliberately.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It is also thought a police man was affected by the poison

0:02:53 > 0:02:54after going to help find out what happened.

0:02:54 > 0:02:59He's in hospital too.

0:02:59 > 0:03:00Skripal spied on Russia, where he's from, for Great Britain.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03And that's why many people think he has been hurt.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05The British Prime Minister says the poison used

0:03:05 > 0:03:08to attack him was made in Russia.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12The Government has concluded that it is highly likely that Russia

0:03:12 > 0:03:15was responsible for the act against Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

0:03:15 > 0:03:20But a member of the Russian government says that's rubbish.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24Skripal and his daughter had been to a restaurant and a pub that day.
