0:00:04 > 0:00:07Hi, I'm Ricky with Newsround and lots to talk about this morning.
0:00:07 > 0:00:10Another great night for Great Britain on the final day
0:00:10 > 0:00:16of the World Athletics Championships.
0:00:16 > 0:00:19They were flapping about going, "Mah, mah!"
0:00:19 > 0:00:22And bat watch!
0:00:22 > 0:00:32We meet the kids who are spotting bats in their new home.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Good Monday morning.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Let's start with the World Athletics Championships which came to end
0:00:40 > 0:00:41in London last night.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43Two more medals for Great Britain.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45Britain's 4x400 metres women won a brilliant silver
0:00:45 > 0:00:46and the GB men got bronze.
0:00:46 > 0:00:51It means they finished sixth on the medal table.
0:00:51 > 0:00:54Star of the show and athletics legend Usain Bolt said goodbye
0:00:54 > 0:00:58to the crowds and almost cried after his last ever race.
0:00:58 > 0:01:00The Jamaican runner is retiring after winning
0:01:00 > 0:01:03eight Olympic gold medals.
0:01:03 > 0:01:08This is what he had to say.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11I personally feel this is a good message to the kids that work hard,
0:01:11 > 0:01:14be strong and let's push on, you know what I mean?
0:01:14 > 0:01:16And, for me, if I can leave something like that
0:01:16 > 0:01:18to the younger generation, that with hard work,
0:01:18 > 0:01:22no matter what's going on, you can be the best that you can be,
0:01:22 > 0:01:26then that's a good legacy to leave.
0:01:26 > 0:01:30Footy now and the world's most expensive player, Neymar,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33played his first game for French side Paris Saint Germain.
0:01:33 > 0:01:39The ?200 million player scored this exciting goal his first
0:01:39 > 0:01:43for the team and they beat rival French club Guingamp 3-0.
0:01:43 > 0:01:49So far he's proving the investment was worth it.
0:01:49 > 0:01:51Now to Charlottesville, a city in Virginia in the US,
0:01:51 > 0:01:58where there's been trouble after protests there.
0:01:58 > 0:01:58Have
0:01:58 > 0:01:58Have a
0:01:58 > 0:01:58Have a look
0:01:58 > 0:01:59Have a look at
0:01:59 > 0:02:01Have a look at this.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03The trouble started when white supremacists,
0:02:03 > 0:02:05who believe that white people are better than other races,
0:02:05 > 0:02:06planned a protest.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08That's because a statue of someone they think
0:02:08 > 0:02:10shared their views was being removed from a university.
0:02:10 > 0:02:12Violence broke out when antiracism groups started
0:02:12 > 0:02:13to protest against them.
0:02:13 > 0:02:17A man drove a car into the antiracism protesters.
0:02:17 > 0:02:21One woman was killed and many others were injured.
0:02:21 > 0:02:23Emergency services arrived quickly to help
0:02:23 > 0:02:28and a man has now been arrested.
0:02:28 > 0:02:33US President Donald Trump has condemned the violence.
0:02:33 > 0:02:38The hate and the division must stop and must stop right now.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41We have to come together as Americans with love for our nation
0:02:41 > 0:02:46and true affection and, really, I say this so strongly,
0:02:46 > 0:02:51true affection for each other.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54It's been a weekend of protest marked by violence and it's
0:02:54 > 0:02:57shown once again that the US is divided over the issue of race.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59It's also served as a test for the US's
0:02:59 > 0:03:02fairly new president Donald Trump.
0:03:02 > 0:03:06In the past he's been supported by white nationalists,
0:03:06 > 0:03:09people said that he didn't do enough to criticise the white nationalists
0:03:09 > 0:03:12who organised this weekend's events.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14Over the next few days, people will be looking to see
0:03:14 > 0:03:17if there's any more demonstrations and what, if anything,
0:03:17 > 0:03:21President Trump has to say about those.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24And if you want to know more about what's happening in the US
0:03:24 > 0:03:27with those protests, check the website.
0:03:27 > 0:03:37There are lots of other stories too, including why the weather
0:03:37 > 0:03:40for some of you during the summer holidays has been so rubbish.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42Whether you love bats or not,
0:03:42 > 0:03:45most of us probably wouldn't want to live with a load of them.
0:03:45 > 0:03:48But some churches are letting these little guys make themselves at home
0:03:48 > 0:03:49in buildings like this.
0:03:49 > 0:03:50Sound a bit batty?
0:03:50 > 0:03:51Here's Ayshah.
0:03:51 > 0:03:55It might be a bit cold and draughty but for bats it is one of their
0:03:55 > 0:03:56favourite places to make a home.
0:03:56 > 0:03:58And these kids have come to this church
0:03:58 > 0:04:01in Norfolk to find out all about the bats that live here.
0:04:01 > 0:04:03I've been around and seen two of these, like,
0:04:03 > 0:04:06tiny bats that were flapping about going like, "Mah, mah!"
0:04:06 > 0:04:08I saw two of the small bats, I saw a flapper bat.
0:04:08 > 0:04:11I like bats because they can hang upside down.
0:04:11 > 0:04:17I like bats because they fly around.
0:04:17 > 0:04:20But they're not always the easiest animals to live with.
0:04:20 > 0:04:27And the people that own churches are worried that the bats
0:04:27 > 0:04:30are damaging these very old buildings, with the bats' wee
0:04:30 > 0:04:33leaving little white spots like this on gravestones.
0:04:33 > 0:04:35So they might not be the most welcome guests
0:04:35 > 0:04:37but it's actually really important to protect these bats.
0:04:37 > 0:04:40Bat populations over a number of years have been declining,
0:04:40 > 0:04:44hopefully we've stopped that.
0:04:44 > 0:04:46But churches are one of the most important buildings in
0:04:46 > 0:04:51the countryside that bats can use.
0:04:51 > 0:04:54Luckily for the bats, this church is happy to let them
0:04:54 > 0:04:56stay in the church roof for now, but they're building
0:04:56 > 0:05:01special bat boxes outside the church for them to live in in the future,
0:05:01 > 0:05:05so they don't make any more mess inside.
0:05:05 > 0:05:09And a special project called Bats In Churches is asking other
0:05:09 > 0:05:14places of worship to do the same.
0:05:14 > 0:05:18BIG BEN STRIKES THE HOUR
0:05:18 > 0:05:28That's a familiar sound, but come next Monday Big Ben
0:05:31 > 0:05:32won't chime for several months.
0:05:32 > 0:05:33It's for repair work.
0:05:33 > 0:05:35The bells will still ring on special days,
0:05:35 > 0:05:38but will be silent for only the third time in 150 years.
0:05:38 > 0:05:41A satellite from Nasa has started the final steps to ending its
0:05:41 > 0:05:4213-year mission at Saturn.
0:05:42 > 0:05:43It's started a series of "ultra-close" journeys
0:05:43 > 0:05:45through the planet's atmosphere.
0:05:45 > 0:05:46Scientists are hoping it will reveal more
0:05:46 > 0:05:48about what the planet is made of.
0:05:48 > 0:05:51The satellite will take lots of pictures so we can take a closer
0:05:51 > 0:05:58look at what's happening there.
0:05:58 > 0:06:00So that's what's going on in and around your world.
0:06:00 > 0:06:04We'll be back with plenty more this afternoon!
0:06:06 > 0:06:09I love...The Next Step!
0:06:09 > 0:06:11It is amazing.
