:00:00. > :00:12.Good morning guys, I'm Martin and here's what coming up on Newsround:

:00:13. > :00:15.More UK beaches than ever classed as excellent.

:00:16. > :00:23.And how you stop a panda from getting lonely.

:00:24. > :00:28.But first it may not have been the warmest start to the year but if any

:00:29. > :00:31.of you are brave enough to take a trip to the beach this holiday then

:00:32. > :00:34.I have some good news. A record number of UK beaches have received

:00:35. > :00:37.the top water quality award from the Marine Conservation Trust. And to

:00:38. > :00:41.tell us exactly what that means the BBC's Tim Muffett put down his

:00:42. > :00:52.bucket and spade for a minute to send us this report.

:00:53. > :00:54.It is a beautiful morning near Gosport in Hampshire, where the

:00:55. > :00:58.water quality from this speech has been classed as excellent. Every

:00:59. > :01:04.year scientists test the quality of the water off our beaches and more

:01:05. > :01:12.than ever have reached the top rating. Richard, you are from the

:01:13. > :01:17.Marine conservation Society? It seems we had a really good summer

:01:18. > :01:23.and there was hardly any rainfall so the beaches were not affected by

:01:24. > :01:27.floods which cause the sewers to overflow and go into the sea. The

:01:28. > :01:32.winter was very wet, will that not have made the pollution worse? It

:01:33. > :01:38.would have done at the time. Around the coast, the beaches are not

:01:39. > :01:44.tested. I would imagine it would have been pretty bad at around the

:01:45. > :01:49.time of the floods. What are the dangers of dirty water? You can pick

:01:50. > :01:53.up some infections, and things that can be harmful to you. It is

:01:54. > :01:59.important for people to swim in the sea, to play in the sea that you

:02:00. > :02:07.don't have those bugs to pick up. Some beaches failed to meet --

:02:08. > :02:09.reached the minimum standard. Water companies and local authorities are

:02:10. > :02:15.being encouraged to make sure sewage does not flow into the sea. But it

:02:16. > :02:21.is good news when it comes to the quality of the water American leader

:02:22. > :02:24.Barack Obama has phoned Russian president, Vladimir Putin, to urge

:02:25. > :02:26.him to help stop protesters in eastern Ukraine.

:02:27. > :02:28.Pro-Russian groups have taken over more government buildings despite a

:02:29. > :02:33.warning of military action from Ukraine. Putin says Russia haven't

:02:34. > :02:37.been interfering. Counter demonstrations calling for the

:02:38. > :02:40.country to stay as one have also been taking place. A crisis meeting

:02:41. > :02:44.between Ukraine, Russia and the West is due to take place on Thursday.

:02:45. > :02:47.You can find out more about what's happening in Ukraine with our guide

:02:48. > :02:50.over on the Newsround website. The medals for this summer's

:02:51. > :02:54.Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have been unveiled. Each medal is being

:02:55. > :02:55.handmade by expert jewellers. They've been designed by Glasgow

:02:56. > :02:59.artist, Jonathan Boyd, who said he wanted to reflect the city as well

:03:00. > :03:05.as a feeling of movement. More than 1,000 medals will be awarded during

:03:06. > :03:09.The Games. From Football now and tonight

:03:10. > :03:13.Arsenal have a pretty important game against West Ham. A win for Arsenal

:03:14. > :03:15.will move them to fourth place above Everton. And Manager, Arsene Wenger,

:03:16. > :03:20.knows, what's required from his team.

:03:21. > :03:24.We want to bounce back in the Premiership. We know one of the main

:03:25. > :03:31.target is the Premiership. Therefore we want to finish strongly and we

:03:32. > :03:37.have a battle with Everton. It is now down to consistency in our final

:03:38. > :03:40.games. And Britain's swimmers continue to break records at the

:03:41. > :03:44.national Championships in Glasgow. Jaz Carlin claimed the fastest time

:03:45. > :03:46.this year in the 800 metres freestyle, breaking her own Welsh

:03:47. > :03:49.record. Staying in the water and the most

:03:50. > :03:52.successful Olympian in history has announced he's making a surprise

:03:53. > :03:55.comeback. Michael Phelps who last in action at the London Olympics will

:03:56. > :04:00.compete at an event in Arizona at the end of the month. Phelps won 22

:04:01. > :04:02.medals in his career - 18 of them gold.

:04:03. > :04:05.If people are driving their cars at night they usually have street

:04:06. > :04:08.lights to help them see where they're going. Well that might be

:04:09. > :04:11.about to change. These glow-in-the-dark road markings have

:04:12. > :04:13.been unveiled on a 500 metre stretch of highway in the Netherlands. The

:04:14. > :04:18.paint has special powder that charges up in the daytime and slowly

:04:19. > :04:22.releases a green glow at night. A giant panda, who became lonely

:04:23. > :04:26.after her best panda friend was sent to another zoo, has had her own

:04:27. > :04:29.amusement park built in China. Staff built her a swing, climbing frame,

:04:30. > :04:32.parallel bars and even installed a TV showing other pandas to keep her

:04:33. > :04:36.company. And by looking at the smile on her face it seems to be working.

:04:37. > :04:49.That's all from me, Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.

:04:50. > :04:56.From 12:30pm, we will be an string questions on the website.
