:00:08. > :00:17.the way including how classic books are being brought to life for kids.

:00:18. > :00:19.But let's start in Syria where for the first time

:00:20. > :00:23.since war began there, fighting has stopped in the city of Homs.

:00:24. > :00:25.It was right in the middle of the battles between

:00:26. > :00:29.the army forces of Syria's President Assad and rebels who oppose him.

:00:30. > :00:31.While fighting continues elsewhere the rebels left Homs last week

:00:32. > :00:35.and the city is now safe enough for some people to go back.

:00:36. > :00:47.The BBC's Lyse Doucet went to meet some of them.

:00:48. > :00:58.Little is left after the worst battles in a punishing siege. Sounds

:00:59. > :01:10.of life slowly return, even at this music shop. This musician left his

:01:11. > :01:17.shop and home when the fighting big game. He came back two days ago, but

:01:18. > :01:23.not for long. No future for us here. Many Syrians are coming back

:01:24. > :01:29.to take away what remains of their lives. The streets are being cleared

:01:30. > :01:34.of rubble, but this is still no place to live. There is no

:01:35. > :01:41.electricity and no water. There is no fighting now. The Syrian army

:01:42. > :01:44.pounded this area for months and cut it off from food. Rebel fighters

:01:45. > :01:51.fought back until exhausted and starving. They agreed a truce. Most

:01:52. > :01:57.Syrians just want their ordeal to end. This man lost his family home.

:01:58. > :02:04.Today he is helping his uncle to salvage what ever he can.

:02:05. > :02:09.You are only 20, do you see your future here?

:02:10. > :02:15.TRANSLATION: we are coming back to rebuild our country, rebuild our

:02:16. > :02:18.future. Without us, our country is nothing.

:02:19. > :02:19.But for other Syrians, there is no reason to stay. Syria's war is far

:02:20. > :02:23.from over. Donations to the charity backed by

:02:24. > :02:25.inspirational teenage fundraiser, Stephen Sutton, are continuing to

:02:26. > :02:28.flood in this morning after the sad Stephen raised more than ?3.5

:02:29. > :02:33.million for the Teenage Cancer Trust after being diagnosed with

:02:34. > :02:36.the disease four years ago. The 19-year-old became famous

:02:37. > :02:38.around the world for his positive attitude and a string

:02:39. > :02:41.of amazing fundraising attempts. Thousands of people are still paying

:02:42. > :02:43.tribute, including pupils Very, very difficult because Stephen

:02:44. > :02:52.was so special. But we are all really, really proud

:02:53. > :02:56.and that's an overriding emotion. We want to make sure we go out of

:02:57. > :03:01.our way to celebrate the person that Stephen was, what he contributed

:03:02. > :03:05.both to the school and also more widely and his amazing achievements

:03:06. > :03:10.and how much money he raised. And do remember that if anything

:03:11. > :03:14.in the news upsets you there's lots of help and advice on the Newsround

:03:15. > :03:19.website. How do you make books that were

:03:20. > :03:21.written over 150 years ago Well it's a task the British Library

:03:22. > :03:26.has taken on with the launch of a massive new digital project

:03:27. > :03:29.that aims to bring classical books Jenny's travelled back to Victorian

:03:30. > :03:43.times with a group For the first time, the original

:03:44. > :03:52.handwritten works of authors will be online. They will be there to paint

:03:53. > :03:56.a picture of what life was like. We want to inspire anyone with a love

:03:57. > :04:04.of reading and books to get an understanding into the craft of a

:04:05. > :04:08.writer. These kids are getting a sneak peek at some of the stuff

:04:09. > :04:16.going online. It will make me read more. Seeing where Joan -- Jane

:04:17. > :04:22.Austen though, I can see where she gets her ideas. After reading the

:04:23. > :04:28.poems and the things Charles Dickens went through, I have a clear idea in

:04:29. > :04:31.my head what it was like. Now I have seen all this today, I will try to

:04:32. > :04:37.find a Charles Dickens book and read that instead. Who knows, maybe

:04:38. > :04:42.having all of this at the click of a button will inspire some of you to

:04:43. > :05:00.become a modern-day Charles Dickens yourself. That is almost that it is.

:05:01. > :05:02.But head over to our website. Have a great day at school.
