:00:11. > :00:16.Good afternoon, guys. You are watching Newsround with me, Jenny.
:00:17. > :00:18.15-year-old Kieran is one of 11 million people
:00:19. > :00:23.He got in touch with Newsround to tell us how difficult it was
:00:24. > :00:26.for him to travel around his home town of Wick, in rural Scotland.
:00:27. > :00:29.For lots of people, getting around can be really challenging, and they
:00:30. > :00:32.often need things like ramps to get help to get from place to place.
:00:33. > :00:39.We sent Martin to meet Kieran, and hear his story.
:00:40. > :00:47.I have come to Wick way up in the North of Scotland to meet Ciaran who
:00:48. > :00:52.has cerebral palsy just like me but what is life like getting around a
:00:53. > :00:57.small place like this? Cerebral palsy is a condition that can affect
:00:58. > :01:02.your movement and coordination and, like me, Kieran spends a lot of time
:01:03. > :01:08.in his wheelchair. It basically affects my two legs which can make
:01:09. > :01:15.mobility and issue around school, around town and around buses. Can
:01:16. > :01:20.you give us an insight into what challenges you face? Steps
:01:21. > :01:27.everywhere. Bumps in the pavement. Just generally trying to get around
:01:28. > :01:34.places. How does it make you feel? Sometimes it is OK to get help but
:01:35. > :01:44.in other situations you kind of just want to say, please, leave me to get
:01:45. > :01:50.on with it, but sometimes that is not an option. I am a teenager and I
:01:51. > :01:58.am seeing all of my friends go off and become very independent and not
:01:59. > :02:03.need as much help as I do. Why is access ability such a problem?
:02:04. > :02:08.Because there are so many old buildings, stone built buildings,
:02:09. > :02:11.narrow doorways, it can be a bit of a challenge. What are the main
:02:12. > :02:17.reasons why the changes are not being made? Everything comes down to
:02:18. > :02:22.finance. If we had unlimited funds and the shopkeepers and unlimited
:02:23. > :02:27.funds it would be done tomorrow. What would Ciaran like to see in the
:02:28. > :02:31.future? A lot more ramps and the potholes are a lot more fixed and
:02:32. > :02:39.the new pavements put in. I am not going to let this, this hunk of junk
:02:40. > :02:44.get in my way because I know what I want to do. What job do you want to
:02:45. > :02:51.do when you grow? I wanted your job, I am coming for you, mate!
:02:52. > :02:53.If there's an issue you feel strongly about,
:02:54. > :02:55.contact us on the Newsround website and tell us about it.
:02:56. > :03:00.Newsround's back, bright and early tomorrow morning at 8.15am.
