0:00:20 > 0:00:22to your primary as you can.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39The countdown is on for the Great American Solar Eclipse,
0:00:39 > 0:00:43which happens on August 21st.
0:00:43 > 0:00:47It's the first time a total solar eclipse has happened in decades.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50Here's Whitney to explain.
0:00:50 > 0:00:53There are three key players in the solar system.
0:00:53 > 0:01:00The sun, the moon and of course the Earth which we live on.
0:01:00 > 0:01:04On a normal afternoon the sun shines on the Earth.
0:01:04 > 0:01:07This means it is bright during the day and as the Earth
0:01:07 > 0:01:12turns around at night, it makes everything goes dark.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14But on the afternoon of Monday 21st of August,
0:01:14 > 0:01:17something different will happen.
0:01:17 > 0:01:20The moon will come between the Earth and the Sun.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23The minimal block out the sun rays.
0:01:23 > 0:01:27The moon will block out the sun rays which will cast a shadow over
0:01:27 > 0:01:29the United States of America.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31This will create a total solar eclipse.
0:01:31 > 0:01:34It will happen over 14 states in the US.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37From the west to the east coast in the middle of the day.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40It's a big deal because there hasn't been a total solar
0:01:40 > 0:01:43eclipse in 38 years.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46And one like this which goes from coast to coast hasn't happened
0:01:46 > 0:01:49in nearly 100 years.
0:01:49 > 0:01:50Wowza!
0:01:50 > 0:01:54Millions of people are expected to watch it in the US.
0:01:54 > 0:01:57And they will be making sure they wear their special protective
0:01:57 > 0:02:01glasses for looking up.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04But don't feel left out, we will be able to see a small part
0:02:04 > 0:02:07of the Sun covering the moon from the UK.
0:02:07 > 0:02:10And of course we will be showing you exactly what is happening
0:02:10 > 0:02:17in America here on newsround.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19Now, for some of you, the summer holidays are over -
0:02:19 > 0:02:22and you're now at High School.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24You may have been for the first time today!
0:02:24 > 0:02:27But if you're feeling a bit nervous, no problem -
0:02:27 > 0:02:30these guys have a bit of advice for you.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32When it's, like, a Friday, don't act excited because the teachers
0:02:32 > 0:02:35will most likely keep you later so that you can miss your bus
0:02:35 > 0:02:37so you have to stay home...
0:02:37 > 0:02:42Stay at school later.
0:02:42 > 0:02:44If you're feeling nervous, you should go and talk to someone,
0:02:44 > 0:02:48because that's what I did in the first couple of weeks and it
0:02:48 > 0:02:50made me feel a lot more confident about school.
0:02:50 > 0:02:51Don't feel stressed.
0:02:51 > 0:02:53It's a big...
0:02:53 > 0:02:56It's going to be bigger than primary school and it takes
0:02:56 > 0:02:59a while to get used to, but after a while you
0:02:59 > 0:03:00will get used to it.
0:03:00 > 0:03:05Be loud and confident with your answer instead
0:03:05 > 0:03:09of just being like "Oh, is it this?"
0:03:09 > 0:03:12Behave, do your homework, do what the teacher asks.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15Try and make as many new friends who don't go
0:03:15 > 0:03:17to your primary as you can.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19On the first day, don't be by yourself.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Go and find new people, make new friends.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24First impressions for teachers are really important,
0:03:24 > 0:03:26because teachers will base how your behaviour is off
0:03:26 > 0:03:28that first impression.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31And you don't have a first impression twice, so you should
0:03:31 > 0:03:34behave really well.
