:00:21. > :00:24.Hello! Nel and Joe here, coming to you live from Newsround HQ. It has

:00:25. > :00:29.been a busy day. That's right, we have got lots of stuff to tell you

:00:29. > :00:32.about this Friday, including: Why this little chap has a smile on

:00:32. > :00:37.his face. And I have been visiting one of the

:00:37. > :00:40.UK's newest and smallest cities. First, we have heard stories of

:00:40. > :00:43.abandoned pets before, but Britain's money trouble means that

:00:43. > :00:46.there are now over 500 horses who desperately need a home. That is

:00:46. > :00:56.because their owners are running out of cash, and animal charities

:00:56. > :00:57.

:00:57. > :01:03.are left to look after the horses. This is Domino. He may look healthy,

:01:03. > :01:06.but a year ago, things were different. Domino was neglected by

:01:06. > :01:11.his owners, because they could not afford to look after him. He was

:01:11. > :01:17.left poorly and so weak that he could not stand up. But now, thanks

:01:17. > :01:24.to the RSPCA, Domino is healthy again. But unfortunately, he is not

:01:24. > :01:28.a one-off case. The RSPCA have had 565 horses come into their care

:01:28. > :01:34.this year, almost double last year's number and putting the

:01:34. > :01:38.charity under pressure. They are coming in extremely thin. Imagine a

:01:38. > :01:42.skeleton with a bit of skin and some fur. That is about it.

:01:42. > :01:46.Sometimes they collapse because they have no food inside them.

:01:46. > :01:51.are they being neglected? People can't afford to look after them.

:01:51. > :01:54.And instead of asking for help, they just hope nobody will notice.

:01:54. > :01:59.The price of hay to feed horses and rising vet bills has meant the cost

:01:59. > :02:04.of looking after a horse has risen dramatically. But the RSPCA are

:02:04. > :02:09.doing all they can to help horses like Domino. He loves his dinner!

:02:09. > :02:15.But what goes into a getting a horse fit again? We have to give

:02:15. > :02:19.them 24 hour care. They have to have feeding in small amounts. A

:02:19. > :02:24.vet has to come and do tests. They might need medication. Then you

:02:24. > :02:29.have to walk them slowly, to build them up. Domino has now been

:02:29. > :02:33.rehomed and is looking happy. But not all horses are as lucky. That

:02:33. > :02:35.is why the RSPCA want to send out the message that you must not take

:02:35. > :02:39.on a horse unless you can look after it.

:02:39. > :02:41.The Church of England is preparing to say goodbye to Dr Rowan Williams,

:02:41. > :02:44.who is leaving his job as the Archbishop of Canterbury. Although

:02:44. > :02:48.the Queen is officially the head of the Church of England, the

:02:48. > :02:51.Archbishop of Canterbury is the main person in charge. The new

:02:51. > :02:55.Archbishop will be selected by the Prime Minister and approved by the

:02:55. > :02:58.Queen. People in Belgium have been

:02:58. > :03:02.spending the day remembering the 28 people, including 22 children, who

:03:02. > :03:05.died in a coach crash in Switzerland on Wednesday night. One

:03:05. > :03:11.of the children was from Britain. In Belgium, there has been a

:03:11. > :03:16.minute's silence as a sign of respect. Eight of the children who

:03:16. > :03:19.survived have been flown home. Next, we have news of something

:03:19. > :03:23.very special indeed. Yes, because the Match Of The Day Kickabout boys

:03:23. > :03:33.and girls have secured a world exclusive interview for Saturday.

:03:33. > :04:01.

:04:01. > :04:04.Can you hear that music? It was marmalade sandwiches all round last

:04:04. > :04:06.night, as Paddington Bear found out he was the nation's favourite

:04:06. > :04:10.cartoon character. He beat off stiff competition from Shaun the

:04:10. > :04:20.sheep, Peppa Pig and Wallace and Gromit. If you don't know him, here

:04:20. > :04:29.

:04:29. > :04:37.# I'm laughing at clouds so dark up above.

:04:37. > :04:40.# The sun is in my heart... #. They say you can't build a city in

:04:40. > :04:44.a day, but we beg to differ, as the people of three former towns are

:04:44. > :04:47.enjoying their first taste of city life at the moment. The towns have

:04:47. > :04:55.officially been made cities for the Queen's Jubilee. I have been to one

:04:55. > :05:00.of the newbies for a nose around. Here is my travel guide.

:05:00. > :05:05.Welcome to Newsround's city breaks. Today, we are in the new city of St

:05:05. > :05:09.Asaph in North Wales. Forget London, Paris or New York, this new kid on

:05:09. > :05:13.the block is the city everyone is talking about. What has it got to

:05:13. > :05:17.offer? Let's find out. You could visit the city cathedral, the

:05:17. > :05:22.smallest in the country. Try your hand at skimming along its lovely

:05:22. > :05:27.little river here. Or, because it is the second smallest city in the

:05:27. > :05:30.country, why not try to get to know as many of its 3500 residents as

:05:30. > :05:36.possible? What else is there to do around here apart from get your

:05:36. > :05:41.hair done? Relax, chill out. Does your town feel different now that

:05:41. > :05:46.it is a city? No, but there has been a lot of excitement.

:05:46. > :05:49.Chelmsford, Perth and St Asaph has been awarded the right to call

:05:49. > :05:54.themselves a city. It is not the easiest place to pronounce, but

:05:54. > :05:57.that has not stopped the Queen from making it a city along with two

:05:57. > :06:02.others as part of her diamond jubilee celebrations. The Queen

:06:02. > :06:05.chose it out of 25 other wannabe places, including much larger towns

:06:05. > :06:09.like Reading and Milton Keynes. But there has been a lot of debate

:06:09. > :06:12.about what makes a city. The rule used to be that it must have a

:06:12. > :06:16.cathedral, and because of that, the people around here have called

:06:16. > :06:20.their town a city for years. Cent as it certainly does not have the

:06:20. > :06:23.hustle and bustle and museums and skyscrapers you would expect of a

:06:23. > :06:28.modern city. But that does not matter, because it has been given

:06:28. > :06:37.the royal seal of approval. So why not come along and enjoy the brand-

:06:37. > :06:40.new city of St massive? -- sent a massive? -- St Asaph.

:06:40. > :06:43.Next, they used to be a mystery, but now experts reckon the world's

:06:43. > :06:45.biggest squid species have developed huge eyes so that it can

:06:45. > :06:48.spot approaching predators. If you think a London double-decker bus is

:06:48. > :06:51.pretty big, that is nothing compared to a giant squid. But even

:06:51. > :06:53.bigger than that is the humungous colossal squid, whose massive eyes

:06:53. > :06:58.help keep it away from hungry sperm whales.

:06:58. > :07:01.Before we go, don't forget that it is Mothering Sunday this weekend.

:07:01. > :07:10.If you can't wait, head to the Newsround website to find out

:07:11. > :07:15.everything about it and try our super Mother's Day quiz.
