:00:13. > :00:14.with today's top stories, including...

:00:15. > :00:18.Why top diver Tom's trying to get more of you to take up the sport.

:00:19. > :00:22.Plus big news about even bigger beards.

:00:23. > :00:25.This is Newsround. First, Russian President Vladimir

:00:26. > :00:30.Putin has warned that Ukraine is on the brink of civil war. It is after

:00:31. > :00:34.Ukrainian forces fought back against armed groups claiming to support

:00:35. > :00:37.Russia in the east of the country. Similar pro-Russian groups have

:00:38. > :00:41.taken control of buildings in ten towns and cities in recent days but

:00:42. > :00:46.this is the first time Ukraine has fought back. Tensions are rising

:00:47. > :00:51.ahead of international talks about what to do next. But Britain's

:00:52. > :01:00.Foreign Secretary says it is up to Russia to stop causing problems.

:01:01. > :01:06.In recent days, Russia has deliberately pushed Ukraine to the

:01:07. > :01:10.brink and created a still greater risk of violent confrontation. We

:01:11. > :01:22.call on Russia to stop these actions. And to condemn the lawless

:01:23. > :01:25.acts in eastern Ukraine. And you can find out loads more

:01:26. > :01:27.about the background to what's happening in Ukraine on the

:01:28. > :01:31.Newsround website right now. Next, church leaders have called on

:01:32. > :01:34.politicians to do more to prevent people in Britain from going hungry.

:01:35. > :01:37.It is in response to the latest figures from the Trussell Trust - a

:01:38. > :01:41.charity that supplies emergency food parcels to people who can't afford

:01:42. > :01:44.their own shopping. The trust say the number of parcels they've handed

:01:45. > :01:48.out has doubled in the last year. The government say it's not clear

:01:49. > :01:58.how many went to new people and how many were for repeat visitors.

:01:59. > :02:01.Now, plunging into a pool from the height of two double decker buses

:02:02. > :02:05.might not be something at the top of your to do list. But, Olympic star

:02:06. > :02:09.Tom Daley has made a career out of it - and now he's starting a new

:02:10. > :02:14.scheme to try and more kids around the UK to give it a go. We sent Nel

:02:15. > :02:16.to the his first training session as a coach.

:02:17. > :02:22.This is what you have worked for four whole decade. Diving is a scary

:02:23. > :02:29.sport. I always get nervous. You have to learn to live with it and

:02:30. > :02:39.rise to the occasion. The crowd are on their feet. Tom Daley has done

:02:40. > :02:43.all he can. If you enjoy water parks, diving is the closest thing.

:02:44. > :02:51.You get to play in the water all day and do tumbles, turns, somersaults

:02:52. > :03:01.and twists. It is fun and a great way to meet new friends. Listen to

:03:02. > :03:06.that noise! It is all for you, Tom Daley. Every single scream and

:03:07. > :03:15.shout. In the past, diving was a sport that people didn't know about.

:03:16. > :03:26.Because of the Olympics there is this great facility and it is on TV

:03:27. > :03:37.with splash. I wanted to try it when I saw Tom Daley. It can be scary,

:03:38. > :03:43.but I want it to conquer my fear. It is great to do this when Tom Daley

:03:44. > :03:48.is around. At the moment, this scheme is only available to those in

:03:49. > :03:54.London, but it is hoped that it will soon be ruled out across the UK.

:03:55. > :03:57.The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince George have

:03:58. > :04:02.arrived in Australia for a busy ten day visit to the country. They will

:04:03. > :04:05.be visiting the capital city Canberra, Brisbane and the Blue

:04:06. > :04:09.Mountains. But before all of that the royal couple spent time meeting

:04:10. > :04:12.well wishers at the Sydney Opera House. The BBC's Jon Donnison says

:04:13. > :04:14.the royal couple were busy as soon as they arrived.

:04:15. > :04:17.They touched down one hour and 50 minutes ago. They were greeted by a

:04:18. > :04:23.number of dignitaries, including the Prime Minister. They were whisked

:04:24. > :04:27.off pretty quickly to the Sydney Opera House where Prince William

:04:28. > :04:37.gave a reception and he talked about what Prince George's first word

:04:38. > :04:46.might be. He said it was maybe going to be call our lobby. -- koala bear.

:04:47. > :04:49.Finally, just when you thought there'd been a scientific study

:04:50. > :04:52.about almost everything - one comes along about beards. Researchers in

:04:53. > :04:55.Australia have been studying people's attitudes towards face fuzz

:04:56. > :04:58.and have concluded that most people prefer clean shaven face. Make sure

:04:59. > :04:59.you tell you dad. That's all from me. Newsround is

:05:00. > :05:00.back
