:03:17. > :03:24.Major Tim Peake will be returning to Earth on board

:03:25. > :03:31.Once he leaves the ISS, his journey will take 3.5 hours,

:03:32. > :03:36.finally landing in area called the Kazakh Steppe in Kazakhstan,

:03:37. > :03:43.When Tim Peake is on board and ready to return to Earth, the Soyuz

:03:44. > :03:46.spacecraft will fire its main rockets at a safe distance

:03:47. > :03:51.from the ISS and the journey home begins.

:03:52. > :03:53.At key stages of the descent, the spacecraft will start

:03:54. > :03:57.to get rid of parts that are no longer required -

:03:58. > :04:04.It is important that the module is as light as possible for landing

:04:05. > :04:08.because the lighter it is, the slower the descent will be.

:04:09. > :04:11.Once they are close to Earth, the Soyuz will release parachutes

:04:12. > :04:15.to slow it down even more and get the spacecraft into the correct

:04:16. > :04:22.Six engines then fire on the underside of the capsule.

:04:23. > :04:25.This acts to cushion the craft just before it thuds down

:04:26. > :04:29.on the Kazakh Steppe - which looks quite dramatic,

:04:30. > :04:35.but it's just a safety precaution really.

:04:36. > :04:38.A recovery and rescue team then arrives to meet the crew members
