:00:00. > :00:08.Hi, I'm Ricky, it's Friday, this is Newsround and here's what's
:00:09. > :00:28.And can a world drumming record be broken for BBC Music day?
:00:29. > :00:31.First, BBC Music Day took place yesterday,
:00:32. > :00:33.with more than 800 live events taking place across the UK.
:00:34. > :00:37.It was all to celebrate 'the power of music' for all ages,
:00:38. > :00:40.I went to Portsmouth, where some of you guys were trying
:00:41. > :00:58.16 schools, 860 drummers, one challenge. To break the world record
:00:59. > :01:01.for the largest djembe drum ensemble. Here in Portsmouth, this
:01:02. > :01:05.is what these guys are about to try to do. I think we can break the
:01:06. > :01:09.record because we have been a leading up to this moment and we are
:01:10. > :01:13.going to dominate it. And even if we don't break the world record, I'm
:01:14. > :01:19.still excited to be here with my friends. The difficulty in this
:01:20. > :01:23.record attempt is that everyone needs to stay synchronised. Each
:01:24. > :01:27.participant must play their individual drum during the entire
:01:28. > :01:31.attempt, and none of the instruments can be shared. You must keep
:01:32. > :01:36.drumming for the full five minutes. And they were off. The record they
:01:37. > :01:43.have to beat is five minutes. 406 to seven drives. Come on, guys. So they
:01:44. > :01:47.have just finished drumming and the plan is now to head outside and that
:01:48. > :01:50.is where they will find out if they have officially broken the world
:01:51. > :01:56.record. It gives me great pleasure to present Portsmouth music hub with
:01:57. > :02:03.the Guinness world record title for the largest djembe drum ensemble.
:02:04. > :02:10.Congratulations. Mission Complete. Meet the new djembe drumming world
:02:11. > :02:16.record holders. I feel absolutely amazed. It is a very prestigious
:02:17. > :02:20.thing. It is a very rare thing as well. I have been inspired to
:02:21. > :02:27.achieve anything if I set my mind to it and really try. The trickiest
:02:28. > :02:30.part was probably learning all the symbols and the timing. It has
:02:31. > :02:33.inspired me now and I really want to do more.
:02:34. > :02:36.If you're scared of heights, you might want to look away now.
:02:37. > :02:39.This is Erendira Wallenda and she has just broken the world
:02:40. > :02:49.record for the highest suspension over Niagra Falls
:02:50. > :02:51.between Canada and the United States.
:02:52. > :02:53.She dangled about one hundred metres above the water
:02:54. > :02:57.She did have a rope tether to keep her safe but she didn't have
:02:58. > :03:00.Obviously, this isn't one to try at home!
:03:01. > :03:03.Next up these pelicans look pretty happy but it was a different story
:03:04. > :03:10.Hundreds of pelicans have been seriously poorly due to a poisonous
:03:11. > :03:14.algae that has been growing far too rapidly in the waters where they
:03:15. > :03:17.live. While small amounts of this algae are fine, the pelicans have
:03:18. > :03:22.big appetites and too much of the green stuff can make them ill. When
:03:23. > :03:27.this toxin builds up, it gets in the little fish but does not heard the
:03:28. > :03:32.fish. In the barnacles, it does not hurt the barnacles, but when things
:03:33. > :03:35.like pelicans and seagulls eat those critters, they can concentrate that
:03:36. > :03:39.material so much inside of them that they get sick. After reading this
:03:40. > :03:42.stuff, the pelicans find it difficult to swim or fly and have to
:03:43. > :03:50.receive help from local wildlife preserves. The nurse the birds back
:03:51. > :03:53.to health. When the birds are better, the vets get to take the
:03:54. > :04:00.pelicans to the beach and release them back into the water. It is the
:04:01. > :04:03.best part of my job. Releasing pelicans, you see them in the pool
:04:04. > :04:07.and they look like they are doing OK but once you bring them out here you
:04:08. > :04:11.see how happy they are to be back in the wild and the best thing is when
:04:12. > :04:15.they jump out of the crate so fast that it kicks sand up in your face.
:04:16. > :04:18.Back on their feet and with better tummies, the pelicans are just happy
:04:19. > :04:22.to fly free back into the water that they call home.
:04:23. > :04:23.Next, check out these playful dolphins off
:04:24. > :04:27.Drone footage caught the pod jumping in the waves
:04:28. > :04:32.The dolphins were kicking back after the area where they live had
:04:33. > :04:38.Finally, this has had everyone at Newsround HQ oohing and ahhing.
:04:39. > :04:42.This is one of four four-day-old baby hedgehogs that
:04:43. > :04:44.are currently being looked after at the Wiltshire
:04:45. > :04:50.Because they are so tiny they require a lot of special care.
:04:51. > :04:56.That's all from me, Newsround's back right here tomorrow.
:04:57. > :05:08.Yo, whassup? Do you watch CBBC shows on your phone or tablet?
