:03:43. > :03:45.that the whole country has moved north by a metre and a half

:03:46. > :03:50.Confused? I've been looking into it.

:03:51. > :03:52.Australia is a country on the move, no seriously -

:03:53. > :03:58.It's only shifting at about 7cm every year which is about the same

:03:59. > :04:03.But the reason it's moving is all to do with the way

:04:04. > :04:07.It might look like one giant rock, but it's actually made up

:04:08. > :04:14.The ground we stand on is called the crust and it's made

:04:15. > :04:17.of huge slabs of rock called tectonic plates.

:04:18. > :04:20.They float on top of a different layer of hot molten rock,

:04:21. > :04:27.But over long periods of time these floating plates move around and maps

:04:28. > :04:37.That's because they work using satellites to work out

:04:38. > :04:40.where something is using a set of coordinates called

:04:41. > :04:51.Latitude goes this way, longitude goes this way

:04:52. > :04:55.So if you want to tell someone where you are on earth,

:04:56. > :04:58.you can tell them your latitude and longitude number.

:04:59. > :04:59.But because Australia's tectonic plate is moving,

:05:00. > :05:02.its latitude and longitude numbers are now a bit off.

:05:03. > :05:04.Take the famous Sydney Opera House for example -

:05:05. > :05:06.GPS devices say the opera house is here.

:05:07. > :05:09.But actually it's here - about a metre and a half away -

:05:10. > :05:14.Fixing the issue will be a big job - but scientists say it's important

:05:15. > :05:25.Finally, we're used to seeing elephants that look like this

:05:26. > :05:29.However this fella was found in Malaysia

:05:30. > :05:31.in South-East Asia with tusks that point the wrong way.

:05:32. > :05:33.Animal researchers found the elephant when they were trying

:05:34. > :05:38.The 'rare' elephant is now in the Borneo Elephant Sanctuary

:05:39. > :05:44.while they decide where is safe to release him.
