0:00:38 > 0:00:39?3 billion, weighs 65,000 tonnes

0:00:39 > 0:00:41and is as high as Nelson's column.

0:00:44 > 0:00:51are carried out next year.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Next up, the countdown is on for the great American solar

0:00:54 > 0:00:59eclipse, which happens on August 21st across 14 US states.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01It's the first time a total solar eclipse has happened

0:01:01 > 0:01:03in America in decades.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07Here's Whitney to explain.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09There's three key players in the solar system -

0:01:09 > 0:01:11the sun, the moon, and, of course, the earth

0:01:11 > 0:01:15which we live on.

0:01:15 > 0:01:20Now, on a normal afternoon, the sun shines on the earth.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23This means it's bright during the day.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25And as the earth turns around at night, it makes

0:01:25 > 0:01:28everything go dark.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31But on the afternoon of Monday 21st August,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34something different will happen.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36The moon will come between the earth and the sun.

0:01:36 > 0:01:40The moon will block out the sun rays, which will cast a shadow over

0:01:40 > 0:01:43the United States of America.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46This will create a total solar eclipse.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48It will happen over 14 states in the US,

0:01:48 > 0:01:52from the west to the east coast, in the middle of the day.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56It's a big deal because there hasn't been one there in 38 years.

0:01:56 > 0:02:03And one like this, which goes from coast to coast,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05hasn't happened in nearly 100 years.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Wowzer!

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Millions of people are expected to watch it in the US

0:02:09 > 0:02:13and they will be making sure they wear their special protective

0:02:13 > 0:02:16glasses before looking up.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20But don't feel left out - we will be able to see a small part

0:02:20 > 0:02:24of the moon covering the sun from the UK.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27And, of course, we'll be showing you exactly what's happening

0:02:27 > 0:02:32in America here on Newsround.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35And don't forget there is LOADS more info about the solar eclipse over

0:02:35 > 0:02:38at Newsround online.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Let's get a quick sport update for you this morning.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43Liverpool are on the verge of the Champions League group

0:02:43 > 0:02:47stages, thanks to an amazing free kick by their 18-year-old right

0:02:47 > 0:02:48back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Liverpool had plenty of chances, but it was late in the game before

0:02:51 > 0:02:54James Milner's deflected cross made it two.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Hoffenheim still have a chance after they also scored a goal.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01The second leg is at Anfield next Tuesday.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Celtic play Astana in the first leg of their qualifying match

0:03:04 > 0:03:07tie in Glasgow tonight.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10In Scotland Celtic are unbeaten in 50 games and knocked Astana out

0:03:10 > 0:03:14of the Champions League last season.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17And Johanna Konta's into the third round of the Cincinatti Open.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19The British number one beat Kiki Bertens of

0:03:19 > 0:03:25the Netherlands in straight sets.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28Now, to a country with lots of secrets, where children find it

0:03:28 > 0:03:30impossible to go online, and getting information about what's

0:03:30 > 0:03:33going on in the world is really difficult.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36North Korea is in the news because of the arguments its government

0:03:36 > 0:03:39is having with America.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41So what is life like for children there?

0:03:41 > 0:03:47Ayshah's been investigating.

0:03:50 > 0:03:58This is what children in North Korea are watching at the moment.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01It's a cartoon about a big fierce tiger getting beaten

0:04:01 > 0:04:04by a small spiky hedgehog.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07It was made by the North Korean government for children to watch.

0:04:07 > 0:04:11It seems that the message they want to send to kids

0:04:11 > 0:04:13is that the orange tiger is America and the brave hedgehog

0:04:13 > 0:04:16is North Korea.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19They want children to believe that their country is brave

0:04:19 > 0:04:23and clever and that America is a nasty bully.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un, controls all of this -

0:04:27 > 0:04:32what children can see, what they hear and

0:04:32 > 0:04:33what they can say.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37Because North Korea is such a secret place, it's hard to know

0:04:37 > 0:04:39what children living there think of cartoons like this.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43But we can find out some things about their lives.

0:04:43 > 0:04:49At school, pupils are taught a lot about their leader.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51From an early age, they are told he is wonderful

0:04:51 > 0:04:55and should always be praised.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00And at the age of ten, all kids have to join

0:05:00 > 0:05:02the Children's Union, where they sing songs about how

0:05:02 > 0:05:04great the leader is.

0:05:04 > 0:05:08And we know that life is hard for many children in North Korea -

0:05:08 > 0:05:11last year, a report by the United Nations said that

0:05:11 > 0:05:19many children weren't getting the food they need.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21And although we know some things, we still don't know

0:05:21 > 0:05:23what North Korean children really think about the leader

0:05:23 > 0:05:26of this mysterious country.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34And if you want to understand more about North Korea,

0:05:34 > 0:05:36there's a Newsround guide online.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38Now, do you ever get your sports mixed up?

0:05:38 > 0:05:41This cricketer thinks he's a footballer - watch this.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45This is Derbyshire's Hardus Viljoen, a South African fast bowler who's

0:05:45 > 0:05:49also a good passer with his feet - which he used to run out

0:05:49 > 0:05:51Durham's Michael Richardson.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54It's totally allowed - just pretty unusual!

0:05:54 > 0:05:57That's all from me, Newsround's back at 4.20 - have a great day!

0:05:57 > 0:05:57Don't forget to check out the website for all the rest

0:06:05 > 0:06:07CBBC Book Club is on every Sunday. But it doesn't stop there.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10There's so much to get involved with on the Book Club web page as well.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12There's a brand-new book of the month -
