:00:24. > :00:28.Hello. Double trouble tonight. That's right we are here to bring

:00:29. > :00:35.you everything you need to snow in about eight minutes. The horses

:00:35. > :00:39.that helped win wars. The dream job - NASA's on the hunt for new

:00:39. > :00:43.astronauts. First though, smoking in cars. How

:00:43. > :00:51.do you feel if your parents do it? At the moment people are allowed to

:00:51. > :00:56.smoke behind the wheel. Lots of doctors want it banned, even if

:00:56. > :01:02.drivers are alone. They say the fumes are dangerous in space spaces

:01:02. > :01:06.like cars. Spoking it causes asthma and lung -- smoking, it causes

:01:06. > :01:11.asthma and lung damage. It is banned in public buildings in the

:01:11. > :01:16.UK. What is the argument behind the ban? Some think it is unfair for

:01:16. > :01:21.others to breathe in harmful toxins. One area the ban didn't take into

:01:21. > :01:25.account is the car. Scientists think that in a small

:01:25. > :01:30.space the level of dangerous chemicals in the air can be 23

:01:30. > :01:33.times higher than that of a building. Now a group of top

:01:33. > :01:36.doctors want people banned from lighting up in their cars. They say

:01:36. > :01:41.children are particularly at risk from breathing in smoke, because

:01:41. > :01:45.their bodies are not as developed as adults. We know it is an issue

:01:45. > :01:51.that bothers loads of you. Earlier we followed a group of campaigners

:01:51. > :01:55.as they asked an MP to change the law. Kids we spoke to today feel

:01:55. > :02:01.the same. Sometimes I have seen kids in the back and people smoking.

:02:01. > :02:06.It makes me worried about the kids. Have you ever seen somebody in a

:02:06. > :02:13.car smoking? How did it make you feel? Sad. There were children in

:02:13. > :02:16.the back. I think that the parent didn't realise what it was doing to

:02:16. > :02:20.the children in the back. Some people are against an all-out

:02:20. > :02:25.ban. They say it is their car, they should be able to do what they want.

:02:25. > :02:28.If they are on their own with no passengers and a child in the back

:02:28. > :02:32.then they would only harm themselves A total ban would be

:02:32. > :02:35.difficult because it would be hard to catch people smoking in their

:02:35. > :02:38.cars. The Government in England and Scotland say they will not change

:02:38. > :02:43.the law at the moment, but in Northern Ireland and Wales they

:02:43. > :02:48.could look into it in the future. Well, smoking is already banned in

:02:48. > :02:53.cars in parts of Canada, the US and Australia. On the Newsround website

:02:53. > :02:59.lots of you think the UK should follow. 12-year-old Adil from

:02:59. > :03:03.Surrey says, "I would refuse to get into a smoker's car until the fumes

:03:03. > :03:07.were cleared." This one says the smoke could distract people and

:03:07. > :03:14.cause an accident. 14-year-old Shantell from York says "I tell my

:03:14. > :03:18.mum and dad to stop, but they say "it's my car so I can." Last week

:03:18. > :03:24.we remembered all the men and women who died fighting for our country.

:03:24. > :03:30.Memorials have been taking place. In the First World War one million

:03:30. > :03:36.animals were sent overseas to be used in battle.

:03:36. > :03:41.War Horse tells the story of Joey, a horse sent to battle. Hundreds of

:03:41. > :03:45.miles away from his owner he goes on a dangerous journey through the

:03:45. > :03:49.muddy trenches of the First World War. This is Hollywood, but during

:03:49. > :03:53.the war, almost 100 years ago, there was the reality for millions

:03:53. > :03:56.of horses. This old footage shows a horse hospital in France. The

:03:56. > :04:00.animals were really important to move weapons around and charge into

:04:00. > :04:06.battle. When they were injured they needed to be cared for and special

:04:06. > :04:12.hospitals were set up. To make sure people knew what the different

:04:12. > :04:17.hospitals were for they had Red Crosss for humans and blue crosses

:04:17. > :04:21.for animals. What was life like for war horses? It was always for

:04:21. > :04:24.horses in the First World War. If you can imagine these were farm

:04:25. > :04:29.horses who had peaceful lives and they were taken to the battlefields,

:04:29. > :04:33.where, like the men they were with, the soldiers, they were in cold,

:04:33. > :04:39.wet, freezing conditions, standing in mud. Lots caught diseases. Of

:04:39. > :04:42.course they could have been injured by bullets and shrapnel as well. It

:04:42. > :04:46.was pretty awful for them. It is thought six million horses were

:04:47. > :04:51.used in the First World War. Almost half died. The UK army used one

:04:51. > :04:55.million horses and mules and less than half returned. Every year, we

:04:55. > :05:00.remember the men and women who died fighting for the country, but war

:05:00. > :05:03.horses aren't forgotten either. It is here, at this war memorial in

:05:03. > :05:08.London that people meet every year to remember not just the millions

:05:08. > :05:12.of horses that have died, but also the other animals killed during our

:05:12. > :05:16.wars. Some sport now. Martin Johnson has quit as the England

:05:16. > :05:19.rugby manager. It follows his side's poor performance in the

:05:20. > :05:26.World Cup. Things were bad on the pitch, ending a quarter-final

:05:26. > :05:31.defeat to France, ending with some players punished for bad behaviour.

:05:31. > :05:35.Today, we heard the American space agency, NASA, is looking to recruit

:05:35. > :05:41.a fresh batch of new astronauts. There is a hitch. NASA doesn't have

:05:41. > :05:45.its own space ship any more. Space wannabes might be keeping their

:05:45. > :05:54.feet on planet Earth for a while to come. Human exploration of space.

:05:54. > :05:59.That's what we do at NASA. NASA is hiring.

:05:59. > :06:03.We're going to send humans further into space than ever before.

:06:03. > :06:07.Most of us have dreamed about being astronauts. What sort of person is

:06:07. > :06:13.NASA looking for? Firstly, you have to have a

:06:13. > :06:20.scientific background. Brilliant! I did GCSE science. They

:06:20. > :06:25.need to be a daring adventurer. Hey, I can be brave! And able to speak

:06:25. > :06:29.Russian. SPEAKS RUSSIAN

:06:29. > :06:36.OK, that is a bit tricky. But, hang on, they need to be American as

:06:36. > :06:40.well! What? Seriously?

:06:40. > :06:45.This is NASA's biggest ever search for new talent. With the end of

:06:45. > :06:51.their space shuttle programme this summer, the next generation of

:06:51. > :06:55.astronauts might not even make it into space. NASA's latest

:06:55. > :06:59.astronauts made it to the space station this morning, but that was

:06:59. > :07:02.on board a Russian ship. Some think this advert is a way to get fresh

:07:02. > :07:06.ideas and remind people that the biggest space organisation is still

:07:06. > :07:11.in business. If like me you can't wait to get

:07:11. > :07:17.your space suit on and reach for the stars, you better get your

:07:17. > :07:24.application in and move to America. Your space flight experience begins

:07:24. > :07:28.right here, right now. OK, finally, how about this for the

:07:28. > :07:33.ultimate after-school snack. It is a sandwich. Would you like it?

:07:33. > :07:38.Maybe not. Don't look so suspicious. It is a slice of toast between some

:07:38. > :07:47.bread slices, salt and pepper. It was invented over 100 years ago.
