:00:26. > :00:30.It's all about the big vote which happened last year for the UK
:00:31. > :00:48.A little over six months ago the British people voted for change.
:00:49. > :00:52.They voted to shape a brighter future for our country. They voted
:00:53. > :00:58.to leave the European Union and embrace the world. They did so with
:00:59. > :01:03.their eyes open. Accepting that the road ahead will be uncertain times,
:01:04. > :01:04.but believing that it leads to a brighter future for their children
:01:05. > :01:07.and grandchildren, too. The Prime Minister said she's made
:01:08. > :01:09.some big decisions about how Britain will work in the future,
:01:10. > :01:12.now it's leaving the European Union. She also said that the UK
:01:13. > :01:14.would be leaving something But politicians from other parties
:01:15. > :01:18.say that that decision The First Minister of Scotland,
:01:19. > :01:24.Nicola Sturgeon, said She said that coming out
:01:25. > :01:28.of the single market would affect jobs and the economy
:01:29. > :01:31.and that it was the wrong So what do "Single Market"
:01:32. > :01:42.and all the other words we've been We're going to need

:01:53. > :01:57.lately you will have heard a lot of the word Brexit. Probably a fewer
:01:58. > :02:06.the European Union. Control, immigration. Single market. Exiting
:02:07. > :02:11.the EU. What do they mean. Breaks it. It is not the new name of a
:02:12. > :02:17.breakfast cereal, it is two words put together, Britain and exit.
:02:18. > :02:22.Together making Brexit. What is Britain exiting? Last year adults in
:02:23. > :02:27.the UK voted to leave the European Union, which is a bit like club,
:02:28. > :02:31.only this club is made up of 28 countries, working together. The UK
:02:32. > :02:36.has been part of it for more than 40 years. Most people who voted thought
:02:37. > :02:42.it would be better for decisions to be made in the UK rather than the
:02:43. > :02:50.EU. How do we leave? Activating something called Article 50. Think
:02:51. > :02:55.of it is a giant red button, once pressed, the process to lead the
:02:56. > :03:04.European Union officially begins. Not really a red button, but very
:03:05. > :03:16.important. Leaving the EU will not happen overnight. Loads of things
:03:17. > :03:28.need to be discussed. How do we live and work with all the other
:03:29. > :03:32.countries in Europe once we have waved goodbye? Two of the biggest
:03:33. > :03:36.issues talked about our immigration control and the single market. The
:03:37. > :03:39.first one, immigration, that is when people move to a different country
:03:40. > :03:42.to live and work. At the moment people from the EU have the right to
:03:43. > :03:45.live and work in the UK. The Prime Minister says she wants more control
:03:46. > :03:48.over our borders to limit the number of people coming to live here from
:03:49. > :03:51.overseas. That means she has made a big decision about Britain's place
:03:52. > :03:54.in the single market. At the moment the UK is part of the single market,
:03:55. > :03:56.making it easier for countries in the European Union to do business.
:03:57. > :03:59.There are rules that everyone in the single market needs to sign up to,
:04:00. > :04:02.one of those is that people from the European Union have the right to
:04:03. > :04:05.come and work and live in the UK. Theresa May says the vote has made
:04:06. > :04:08.it clear they did not want the EU to make those rules, so it Britain will
:04:09. > :04:10.be leaving the single market. That means we have to make decisions
:04:11. > :04:14.about how we buy and sell things with Europe, and the rest of the
:04:15. > :04:16.world. Daily habit. That is a lot of words.
