:00:00. > :00:08.Hi, guys - Ricky here with your views on top books coming up. Plus,

:00:09. > :00:14.those mega maggots here on Newsround.

:00:15. > :00:18.Let's start with something that affects some of the decisions you

:00:19. > :00:21.make without you even realising. I'm talking book covers because one of

:00:22. > :00:23.the UK's leading children's authors has criticised publishers for making

:00:24. > :00:35.covers specifically targeting boys or girls. Here's what she means.

:00:36. > :00:39.Where you have the brilliant book for boys and robots and dinosaurs

:00:40. > :00:45.and dragons and pirates on the cover. And we have a book for girls,

:00:46. > :00:49.pink and fluffy and glittery and flowers and make up. I have a

:00:50. > :00:52.problem with those books, it is wrong because you are excluding half

:00:53. > :00:55.of the population. Well, we wanted to know how much

:00:56. > :00:58.different covers influence your choice of books so we sent Nel to

:00:59. > :01:04.find out. My experiment is nearly ready. I

:01:05. > :01:09.have some books which are pink and sparkly and ones that are meant to

:01:10. > :01:20.appeal to boys. Let's see which ones they go for. Come on, guys. First

:01:21. > :01:28.one in. I would not read it if it had flowers on it. Girls are into

:01:29. > :01:33.different things. The books didn't get my attention, even though they

:01:34. > :01:41.were colourful. I chose this book because I like the title. The colour

:01:42. > :01:45.put me off a bit. I like blue. A mixed response from these guys.

:01:46. > :01:50.Publishers are the people who get books onto the shelves so what do

:01:51. > :01:55.they say about books for boys and girls? When people publish books,

:01:56. > :02:00.they tried to make it easier for parents to know what they will get.

:02:01. > :02:06.People should look for good books for girls and boys. Next time you

:02:07. > :02:10.choose a book, you might be less likely to judge it by its cover.

:02:11. > :02:13.Look away now if you're eating your tea because scientists are kicking

:02:14. > :02:16.off a big study which could see maggots like these fuel cars in the

:02:17. > :02:20.future. The three-year study will see them farm billions of flies and

:02:21. > :02:23.turn their maggots into animal feed or even diesel fuel. It's not clear

:02:24. > :02:27.how much fuel that's produced this way could actually be used but the

:02:28. > :02:33.people behind it say they're hopeful.

:02:34. > :02:37.The potential for exploiting flies normally considered a pest for the

:02:38. > :02:41.benefit of society is huge. Finally - this is the Empire State

:02:42. > :02:45.building - one of New York City's tallest buildings, and this is a car

:02:46. > :02:49.parked on the top floor. How did it get there? Well, it was taken apart

:02:50. > :02:52.and whisked up the lift to the observation deck before being put

:02:53. > :02:55.back together overnight. It's all to mark 50 years since this model was

:02:56. > :02:58.first released. There's more on that and much more on the Newsround

:02:59. > :03:01.website. We're back tomorrow.
